It clearly was the kind of "drive by" shooting that happens with high frequency, if not every day, in our big cities, hence you don't read much about such things unless you follow the "local news" section of that city's newspaper(s.) And people certainly don't blog much, much less for weeks and months, about inner city shootings. Hence mayors trying to drum up interest when there's a big juicy spree killer shooting that gets everyone interested in gun violence, because most surely aren't interested in the kinds of shootings that cause the most damage when a spree killing hasn't happened recently.
