Here's How Breitbart And Milo Smuggled Nazi and White Nationalist Ideas Into The Mainstream
A cache of documents obtained by BuzzFeed News reveals the truth about Steve Bannon’s alt-right “killing machine.”
By Joseph Bernstein @ BuzzFeed.com, Oct. 5
In August, after a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville ended in murder, Steve Bannon insisted that "there's no room in American society" for neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, and the KKK.
But an explosive cache of documents obtained by BuzzFeed News proves that there was plenty of room for those voices on his website.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, under Bannon’s leadership, Breitbart courted the alt-right — the insurgent, racist right-wing movement that helped sweep Donald Trump to power. The former White House chief strategist famously remarked that he wanted Breitbart to be “the platform for the alt-right.” [....]
Comments
There is nothing surprising in this story. People knew Bannon was a white supremacist. Breitbart was know to favor white supremacist site. Trump voters were willing to overlook the obvious. Obama had to apologize for Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Hillary got pressed on emails. The media and the public gave Trump a pass.

I wonder if the videos were targeted to provide cover for whites who wanted to vote for Trump. Blacks didn’t think Trump was a racist according to the vids, so whites could vote Trump with a clear conscience. I’m unaware of much penetration of these vids in the black community. The data on who was targeted would be fasci

The accents alone were hilarious when they say they are from Atlanta. Facebook was the major outlet. They linked to a Bannon site. They actually live in Nigeria.

Broadway Joe speaks out. On Fox News.
Namath's still the wild card. In 1961 he told reporters "told interviewers that he wanted to sign with the Pirates and play baseball like his idol, Roberto Clemente, but elected to play football because his mother wanted him to get a college education". That kind of hero must have gone over well as he then chose University of Alabama.
And true to his mother he graduated - at age 64, going back to complete the work he'd skipped when he signed early with the Jets.
(at 6'2", Namath was also a prize basketball player, able to dunk the ball. Before his many knee operations. Probably would kneel if he could, though posits that the owners have a right to limit protests at work - not a completely unsound opinion)

The problem with the NFL is that the government (Trump) is dictating business practice on free speech.

Yes, Namath was debating the clueless or disingenuous Ditka. Nevertheless, NFL owners have a right to demand certain standards from their employees, whether the employees agree or strike or quit. The President does not have the right to be dictating those rules, and really shouldn't be involved unless it's a constitutionally supported prelude to legislation.

I'd be surprised if you could tell your boss you could protest in any way you wanted and it was the law.
I think these folks are full of shit frankly. You can read the law yourself. If employees can strike about anything, work related or not, they can strike about the right to dance buck naked on the playing field, wear political symbols on their uniform, shit in the stands, and dedicate the team to populating the moon.
The Act talks again and again about "legitimate rights". Do you think kneeling during the anthem is a "legitimate right" or a form of protest that goes beyond normal job-related functions? I can imagine the right to stay in the locker room instead of participating in a prayer or other activity that is objectionable to one's religious or ethical beliefs, but not the right to hold a bonfire or rain dance as protest.
And just remember, any expansion of these definitions will eventually be used to hurt minorities in some way. The owners almost always have the cleverest lawyers.

The question is if the actions of the NFL owners in response to Trump’s demand is in effect the government silencing free speech.

Trump says that he is the reason Kaepernick is unemployed
That's a skilled troll for ya and if you want to protest successfully you've got to figure out a smart way to get around feeding him. Smart protesting that doesn't end up counter-productive, especially in this day and age of twitter and facebook is hard work, you also have to be clever with it.

Protests are rarely popular. Martin Luther King’s approval was in the 30’s in 1966
http://news.gallup.com/poll/20920/martin-luther-king-jr-revered-more-after-death-than-before.aspx
The NFL players are the canaries in a coal mine. The guy in the White House is directing business owners on how to control protests. The government is curbing free speech. Meanwhile, Republican legislators in multiple states are crafting bills to curb protests. What we are witnessing is not a trivial matter.

RMRD is right on all counts.
Many worshippers kneel to pray..... the Order of the British Empire is often given to the kneeling honoree....people kneel at graves in respect for the dead.
The NFL players contract for this season says players "should" stand for the anthem. Not "must stand". Should, like would or ought, is not a legally compelling word.
And most NFL players respect the Constitution, troops and the flag more than Trump and Republicans.
Milly Ivins said "I would rather see someone burn a flag while wrapped in the Constitution, than someone burn the Constitution, wrapped in a flag."
The players are individually showing respect for what the flag represents to them.
Trump mocked a Gold Star mother while troops were fighting and dying in Afghanistan. Pence backed him.
Trump mocked and denigrated McCain while disabled and wounded veterans filled our VA hospitals. Pence was silent.
Trump is just getting material for his next Adoration Rally to excite the mob. The fans? They will go back to football no matter how long the kneeling lasts, complain, gripe, yet get used to it, because they absolutely love the game.

Re: I'd be surprised if you could tell your boss you could protest in any way you wanted and it was the law....etc.
You can always quit your job. Or risk getting fired and have to hire a lawyer to argue you are protected from being fired. Or if it's covered by the EEOC, you at least don't have to pay for the lawyer, but it will take you a very long time to get that fair deal.
In the case of the NFL, that's easy: it's very clear to me that those supportive of protest should boycott! It's not like it's a fucking public utility, though some of the benefits local governments give them make me wonder sometimes.
It's frigging entertainment. An area where soooo many people dream of working, and never get a chance their whole life. This is why there is the rolling of the eyes about even giving "workers" in this field the rights that others in less glamorous jobs presume, because they think I'd not only lick the boss' boots, I'd kill for that job. No other reason. (See Harvey Weinstein, for one example.)

CNN exclusive: Russ trolls also used Pokemon Go, YouTube and Tumblr to push racial agitprop & co-opt "Black LIves Matter" in the U.S.:

Putin and Russian “intelligence” comes across as racist as hell in the snippets of their approach to the black community. The attempt to promote marches in Baltimore fell apart when black activists in Baltimore simply contacted the idiots running the Blacktivist site and found the Russian backed folks to be frauds.
Passing off two Nigerians as being from Atlanta on YouTube was more comedy than anything else. You Pokémon was ridiculous.
As noted in Slate
The Pokémon Go promotion included chopped English, likely because English isn’t the native language of the person who wrote it. “We will send a $100 Amazon Gifting Card for the person who will capture the most GYMS,” it read. It’s unclear if anyone fell for the contest.

Russia hasn’t improved its view of black Americans as Sambo since days past. Langston Hughes wrote about how Russians assumed all black people could sing and dance when he participated in a Soviet cultural exchange. Robert Robinson, a black man who wanted to become an engineer, was blocked in the United States. He was lured to Russia where he did become an engineer. He was used as a chip to make political points. He faced racism not surprisingly. He actually had to plot to escape Russia.

The current Russia approach to black Americans is not different from the racist app in the past.

Yes, it is very similar to how the USSR propaganda arms tried to play U.S. race issues. It is interesting history because plenty of lefties fell for the cynical ploys to co-opt struggles of the left in the U.S. Then the irony when McCarthyism reared its head, where many of those targeted were just people falling for Soviet propaganda out of that type, not "moles" trying to destroy our country but simply agreeing with some of the Soviet agitprop. Perfect example of the enemy of your enemy is not always being your friend, motives are important, solidarity not always what it is cracked up to be.
