Most of us, by now, are familiar with the (spine tingling) "Trackdown" episode that, beyond al plausible explanation, foretold the coming of our misery.
Somehow, several millenia prior, King David (h/t Michaeel Moore...) seems also to have foreseen and cursed the usurper...
"His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity."
It is worth the time to read the whole psalm, even for those of us who despise the persona being petitioned (Yahweh).
Psalm 10 King James Version (KJV)
10 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
How did they know?

It is just a detail in the larger horror, but I am always haunted by the question "how could a slave holder who had just ripped a child from it's parents and sold her into permanent exile wake up the next morning and look them in the eye, proceeding as if nothing had changed among them?"
Trump is that guy. The utter disconnect between reality and inner phenomenology...
by jollyroger on Thu, 08/01/2019 - 1:49pm
Trump replied, “A lot of people,” but offered no names.
I live for the day that some brave kamikazi reporter says "A lot of people say you're a fuckin' liar, Mr. President. Would you like their names, its a long' list.?"
by jollyroger on Thu, 08/01/2019 - 8:59pm
it could be a real kamikaze mission, not just a metaphorical one about career, only because some of the more deranged fans really do seem to take the "enemy of the people" thing to heart...

Or simply, "I'm sorry, but we can't report that unless we have an actual name or two"

I am certain by now that anti-political correctness is the main source of his appeal to his diehard fans. They don't care about his facts nor his policies or positions as long as he continues to say outrageous things that fly against politically correct mores and set up politically correct straw men and women to knock down. And that he knows this, he's always known it. The Art of The Deal and The Apprentice: break the behavior rules, go for getting things done however you can. Politically correct monsters can't even get a skating rink built, I will. Politically correct monsters let wolf packs roam Central Park: lock 'em up! Politically correct monsters let in Muslims that attack our country, I won't. Obama is a multi-culti elite foreigner beholden to political correctness and Hillary is the biggest politically correct monster of them all.
From ‘We’re All Tired of Being Called Racists’
At Donald Trump’s rally in Cincinnati, droves of attendees made it clear that they stood with the president despite his recent comments.

Now these diehard fan voters cannot be won over by the Dem party, no use in trying to get them, they've alreay got in their heads that liberals are the enemy. (The problem is really for the GOP, they don't cotton to establishment GOP mores.) But for the anger and divisiveness in society to end, their numbers need to be lessened by not having this narcissist around feeding the (delusional) sense of empowerment he gives them.
And then, after that, like Obama suggests here, really listening to someone who doesn't think like you rather than name-calling will help some more. The name calling thing (i.e. "racist") works just like it does on the internet: attack the argument, not the person. You may not change minds but you get less hate and anger that way.

see, some of his best friends are black, and he personally helps them out when he can:
Socially, the whole racism accusation is just feeding the troll. This troll does have expertise in how to troll. Politically it might be a different game, depending on how well opponents play it. But socially, it's a real loser to feed him.

Except he's not his way home - he has to wait in Sweden 2 weeks for some verdict, not cleared.
Maybe Ecuadoran embassy's free.
by PeraclesPlease on Fri, 08/02/2019 - 8:01pm
I was wrong, people in the trial can leave Sweden, have to be back in two weeks for the verdict - presumably light.
US pressuring court officials - that's a pretty shitty development. American exceptionalim at its best - U$ Prez A$AP, gangster hip hop in the (White) House

Sour grapes BS - of course Trump is a sinister genius - he's wrapped this country and the world around himself the last 4 years like nobody since Hitler, even though their body count is thankfully very different.
But we've seen this crap meme before - Reagan's not that smart, Bush is just a chimp. They destroy our worlds but we can still feel a bit smug. Maybe that's how they do it - they encourage us to focus on the 3rd grade stuff while they walk away with the important things.

Sen. Mitch McConnell Fractures His Shoulder After A Fall

Don't blame me, blame Yahweh...

Of course he promises to break his arm then he breaks his shoulder. Reminds me of the bishop who was out golfing with an altar boy as caddy. Putting on the first hole he missed by just an inch. "Fuckin' god damn it, I missed again." The altar boy was all upset, "Father please, your language. Bishop apologizes. But the very next hole the putt just misses the hole again. "Fuckin' damn it, I missed again." "Father your language, You promised" Bishop is all apologetic and says, "If I use such language again may god strike me dead." Of course the next hole the ball rings the cup and rolls away. "Fuckin' damn it I missed again." Suddenly the sky darkens and out of a black cloud a bolt of lightning kills the altar boy dead on the spot. Out of the cloud a voice exclaims, "Fuckin' damn it. I missed again."

What to do, what to do, stay tuned, 10 am tomorrow. Another chapter in the saga of projection (mental illness?!) or something else? Are we just going to get teleprompter read talking points or the real deal Donald with a new con or an old one? Enquiring minds want to know....
P.S. Just came to me: he's thinking of a way to blame it on the Dems. Maybe Fox News channel will come up with something he likes tonight.
by artappraiser on Sun, 08/04/2019 - 8:47pm
here's why I am certain he's going to try something: even he knows that the stream of tweets on "here's another example of how America is great again because of me" just isn't going to play well with scores of people being shot at heartland Walmarts and the local pubs every day.
by artappraiser on Sun, 08/04/2019 - 8:53pm
I see I am not alone in my wondering, makes me feel a little less guilty about being interested in this:
No One Knows Trump’s Next Move
Part of a president’s job is to be a unifying figure in times of national crisis. This president could be past the point where he can take on that role.
