Looks like the couple will get their freedom from the royals.
They will likely use the Obama model to make ends meet, They will use social media, books, and streaming services for income. They both are already worth millions. Oprah is among the people advising the couple.
Edit to add:
Among the things going on was the couple's baby depicted as an ape.

Princess Michael of Kent showed up wearing a Blackamoore pin when she first met the couple.

Could be consider jokes and minor slights, but why take it if you don't have to? In addition, the couple can set their personal schedules without palace demands. The couple survives and now have their own money. The royals continue being the royals.
The British press will go from "Who do you think you are?" to "Where do you think you're going?".

By delving into these details as if one needs to understand the "outrage", you're subverting the whole point of Malik's op-ed:
Like all things royal family, these are invented "pantomime" or kabuki narratives or culture wars to distract and make money off the distraction.
By the way, Trump is expert at this sort of thing.

Considering the side-by-side praise/sleights of Kate vs Meghan in the press (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/meghan-markle-kate-middl...), I don't know why playing tea leaves with other things that may somehow have insulted Meghan is anything but playing into this article. I doubt if Meghan is running around analyzing people's brooches, much less comments they made 15 years earlier, and babies have been compared to monkeys since infinity - the announcer's comment about a royal circus made total sense, considering there was no reference to either parent as black. Yes, someone calling her mother the N word will upset her. Being told she can't do fashion and that she's always disappointing the queen and that she's not following X protocol close enough, and that she spends too much money and is breaking up Will and Harry... All these are direct criticisms and insults. We don't need to (double?) fantasize about other possibilities to understand her state of mind.

You have your opinion, I link to Black Britons who disagree. Life goes on.
by rmrd0000 on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 1:24pm
Huh? You linked to a UC-Irvine grad and India Today, unless you're claiming to link to the Sudanese London reporter that I posted, who seems to disagree with you.
by PeraclesPlease on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 1:39pm
Nope, I'm on point.
Rinse. Repeat.
Blacks in Britain realize the game. The British press realizes the game, and isn't changing. Blacks will press on to make changes in Britain without the help of the press.

Black Britons wonder what took Harry and Meghan so long to realize that the game was afoot.

The MSM in the U.K. and the US is never going to "get it". Ethnic minorities already know. If you think the media is changing, good luck. They will interview individuals, but the main reporting will still suck. Read your own link to how the British media treated Kate vs. Meghan. There is deep pathology that is not going away.
Take the media reaction to Trump's misadventures in Iran. The MSM is still hauling out Judith Miller and Joe Lieberman to explain things in the Middle East. The media does not inform the discussion. The media is the last to find out the change has occurred. The media is not going to reflect on what they did wrong for any significant period of time.
Or look at Maddow taking on the NYT coverage of Hillary's emails. Nothing found. No NYT apology for promoting the story.

No you're not getting it at all. Meghan & Harry don't want to be pawns of the race narrative pushed by rmrd of the U.S. nor to represent the race narrative of various minority constituencies of the UK, nor to be the pawns of narratives pushed by the UK media to sell stories, nor by the P.R. rules of the royal family narrative. They have the ability to make money as celebrities and therefore have agency to create their own narrative and that's what they are gonna do. And if they fade away like Fergie, and don't please the rmrd's of the U.S. and all those others, so be it. They're going for happy, not angry and they have the monetary potential to do just that.

If you watched Suits, totally integrated NY law firm, senior partner a black woman, later on 2 black men added to the wall, black executive secretary, Rachel's race is never mentioned except when she goes home to a mixed family, with Dad a named partner in another firm. Among all the weekly intrigue over 8 or 9 seasons, race problems have little to do with it except perhaps childhood issues. It's a la-la land that I imagine Meghan takes as normal as among her other circles, where mixed ethnic groups are assumed, - she can go hang watch girlfriend Serena play or do a Beyonce fashion shoot or interview Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez, and it's one big gang. To even mention some of this stuff would mean you simply don't belong, or some reference to "out there".

Speaking of changing stereotypes, now here's an interesting choice of model for this RBC global weatlh management ad I just ran across, think they're trying to signal somethin'?
by artappraiser on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 4:05pm
Yeah, they're signalling they're Canadian
Jeez....

I see this shit all the time given where I collect cookies on my browser. The 1% is VERY eager to be inclusive, they want everyone that's in the 1% in the club, whether alien being, frog robot, royal having an existential crisis, Russian mobster, whatever, you got big money we want you, all one small happy family, zero prejudice, zero.
by artappraiser on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 5:01pm
Hm, I just meant "Canadians are inclusive". I mean, look at that guy - perfectly phrased, or framed.

The drama of the British monarchy is a mildly interesting story about something I don't care about at all. A side story that isn't addressed much, and Mehgan Markle is emblematic of it, is that until I read the stories I thought Mehgan was white. And that is not unusual. So often I see pictures of black people, especially young blacks, that look white to me. Homo sapiens, especially in GB and America, are interbreeding so much that it's becoming quite common to not be able to tell a person's race by appearance alone. Just an observation, I happen to think that's a good thing.
by ocean-kat on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 2:00pm
It's the future, it's a given. The race question will eventually be deleted from the census, and soon, simply because so many will choose "other" as the answer. And then because of that, all the data and news and culture that is sorted via race will simply disappear. Not that tribalism will disappear, but tribalism by race alone will disappear.

on another point, all of us who think royal family stories are silly have to realize a lack of interest is elitist![wink wink](http://cdn.ckeditor.com/4.5.6/full-all/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
This is a current copy and paste off of The Guardian.com, I was looking at PP's posted story about Gywneth Paltrow's vagina candle:
and this is actually the most important point of the story about them breaking from "The Firm": their lives have celebrity monetary value and they feel can do their own P.R. better than "The Firm" can, have more control of their lives and be happier doing it. It's very global capitalist, actually.
by artappraiser on Mon, 01/13/2020 - 2:14pm
Meghan does a vaginal candle and I'm done, Royal Sussex trademark or not. What happens in Westminster stays in Westminster.
(PS - I knew her as Rachel from Suits. Who moved to Seattle with Mike.)

Live queen? Really? I always thought those stories about the queen were like one of those Weekend At Bernie's movies.

Interesting how globalist "Hollywood" is the still the enemy here:
Ironic in fact because seems to me that "Hollywood" overall is cranking out "guy" content more than evah. I.E. superheroes, crash and burn, the thrill of victory & the agony of defeat, bonding buddies doing stupid dangerous stuff, etc. It's all out there, all you got to do is go to the movie theatres, rightie folks, unfortunately you're not and are angry at the sophisticados for going all netflix cause they can't stand the stuff.
by artappraiser on Tue, 01/14/2020 - 3:52pm
Yeah, it's a bit of a quandary overall - would you rather be lugging heavy packs of equipment and sleeping in a pit in the desert in one of the most futile pointless drawn out wars in modern times, or with a nice looking actress in a cherry mansion? It's a toss-up, I really couldn't say. Let's play "Ask an Incel", how about it...

I was expecting something witty from you on that, but you outdid yourself this time, tying it all up with a neat little incel bow!![yes yes](http://cdn.ckeditor.com/4.5.6/full-all/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)

It appears reporter Philip Bump knows about Malkin's complaint:
by artappraiser on Wed, 01/15/2020 - 11:42pm
this "fed up with the royals" rant by a Brit reporter surprisingly includes mention of Gywneth Paltrow's vagina so I felt it would be negligent of me not to share it here:
by artappraiser on Thu, 01/16/2020 - 12:45am
just a followup, looking like they are on their way to making the anti-royal types less angry, off the dole and repaying $3M:
