This is from today's Washington Post story catching up on Sy Hersh's expose of the $400-million U.S. plan to destabilize Iran:
"Among the opposition groups allegedly receiving cash and other assistance are ethnic Balochi dissidents in southern Iraq as well as established resistance groups such the Mujaheddin-e Khalq."
First, there's the typo (at least I assume it's a typo, and not deliberate misdirection): the Baluchs live in southern Iran.
And for "cash and other assistance," read "cash, guns and explosives."
Then there's the description of the MEK as an "established resistance group."
Charming. Like some respected conservative think-tank.
WaPo, isn't the MEK sorta on the State Dept.'s official list of terrorist organizations? I thought so.
Amazing how much BS the Post can squeeze into a single sentence.
One marginally related question:
With oil above $140 a barrel, how can so many lawmakers -- and so much of the media -- so blithely ignore administration moves designed to lure a major Mideast oil producer into yet another senseless, endless war?
Just asking.

That was sorta my point in asking how "so many lawmakers" could be so obtuse.
In your own post on this issue, you refer to Iran's "paranoid regime."
You do know the adage: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."
Iran has shown astonishing restraint in the face of daily and/or weekly skirmishes, assassinations and bombings.
They clearly don't want war with the U.S.
I fear the White House interprets this as cowardice and weakness, and license to push the envelope some more.
They may well push too far.

GWBThink: fund the terrorists to destroy the axis of evil, which is evil because it funds terrorists.
ut oh. doesn't that make us evil and part of the axis too?

From your viewpoints expressed in your comments on TPM, it is understandable why people would refrain from working with you. Have fun with your get together in canada. I imagine the foil hat nike wearing people will have fun hanging out with their craziness; however it won't change the facts that you have no jurisdiction or mandate to do what you are suggesting.
