    Tavis, West, and Malcolm

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

    Tavis, West, and Malcolm

While browsing the web this morning I came across an article written by Dr. Boyce Watkins blaring, "Cornel West Says that Sharpton, Dyson are “Up for Sale”: Let’s Talk about That One, Shall We?" My first reaction was, "Hmmmm, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson must have gotten a new job."
    .
The reason that's the first thing that came to mind was because Cornel West is rapidly building a reputation for attacking anyone in the Black community who tends to overshadow him. This tendency, and the reckless and petty way in which he pursues it, has become so pronounced in West that it's beginning to betray his primary agenda as a whole. He's not interested in the Black community at all. All he's interested in is keeping Cornel West in the spotlight.
    .
Look at the facts. First he attacks Barack Obama. He was fine with Barack at first - as long as he could look upon him as subordinate. But once Obama began to get widespread public attention, West started to cool towards him. But when it became clear that Obama could actually become the President of the United States, and he had the audacity to refuse to dance to Tavis and West's music, West went into wild-eyed opposition to everything he represented - only cooling off long enough to become certain that he wasn't going to enjoy the notoriety of a prominent role in an Obama administration, and he wasn't going to be able to strut around with the president on speed dial. Only then, did he see fit to publicly declare that the president was a puppet to plutocrats and afraid of "free Black men." I don't recall him ever being that disrespectful to George W. Bush.
    .
Then, he came out against Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry. But just like with Obama, West was fine with Dr. Perry at first. He recruited her to come to Princeton and they were colleauges. Once it became clear, however, that Dr. Perry had a mind of her own and that she wasn't prone to hero worship, he began to undermine her at Princeton, so she quiet left. But once West found out that she had been given a show on MSNBC, all hell broke loose. Instead of this good brother - who only lives to serve his people - being happy over the prospect that another intelligent Black voice had gained access to the mass media, he saw fit to publicly proclaim that this very impressive Black woman was "a liar and a fraud."
    .
So again, it seems that Cornel West is always prepared to preach a much better sermon on black love and respect than he's willing to live. His comments were extremely disrespectful toward both Black women, and the Black community as a whole. A true brother - a true man - wouldn't even speak to a lady like that in private, much less, badmouth her like that publicly.
    .
Whatever happen to the concept of cherishing our women? No one should have to teach Cornel that. As a so-called Black intellectual, that's exactly what he should be teaching our young people - that it's impossible for them to have any respect for themselves, if they don't respect the very womb of their culture. How can anyone profess to be an intellectual and fail to understand that very fundamental concept? West also betrayed his elitist sense of entitlement, and his disdain for the poor and working class when he complained about a mere baggage handler getting tickets to the Presidential Inauguration while he couldn't.
    .
And it doesn't end there. West has also seen fit to go after Jay-Z. Obviously Jay-Z was getting a little too much publicity over his part ownership of the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclay Center. So West took it upon himself to set the record straight. So in essence, he said, "Wait a minute, world! That pickaninny don't own nothing. TheWhite man owns it! So you see, I'm still the man!" Okay West, but what does fronting off Jay-Z have to do with moving Black people forward?
    .
So Cornel West is not only a demagogue, but he's a demagogue of the very worst kind. Just before he sticks a knife in your back, he starts talking about "how much he loves his brother, however . . ." That may be so, but with "good brothers" like Cornel West, we'd all be better off orphans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E6lS0gLH18
    .
    .
Now he's also badmouthing Rev. Al Sharpton and Dr.Michael Eric Dyson, saying they're "up for sale." What's wrong with this guy? What evidence does he have of that? If he has evidence to substantiate what he's saying, he should produce it. if he doesn't, he should shut up. How does it benefit the Black community by his running all over the country slandering every high-profile Black person who doesn't see things his way. He seems to have something to say about everybody but his buddy, Tavis, who's one of the most prolific corporate shills in the Black community. He also have close associations with several corporations, including Walmart, that are, or have been, member ALEC, an organization that's left no stone unturned to deprive Black people of their right to vote - and we've got evidence of that.
    .
    DO YOU BELIEVE NATIONWIDE
    IS ON YOUR SIDE?
So the fact is, many in the Black community have allowed themselves to be hornswoggled by both the media, and Cornel West. The bottom line is,West is nothing more than a self-absorbed, egomaniacal fraud who hasn’t had an original thought in 35 years, and it looks like the Black community is the last to recognize that.

    .
Some of us have allowed ourselves to be bedazzled by two words - Harvard and Princeton. The establishment has effectively used those two words to convince many of us to accept, without examination, that Cornel West has more sense than we do. That's what accounts for the rabid defense of him in some quarters. These people need to step out of their media-constructed bubble, open their eyes, ears, and minds, and stop letting others dictate who they listen to.
    .
The White establishment has been propping West up with their very special kind of hype for all of his 35 years in the public eye. Yet, I have never met one person who can tell me one profound sentence he’s uttered in the three-and-a-half decades that he’s been on the public stage - and a stage is exactly what it's been, because West is more of an entertainer than an intellectual.
    .
Tavis and West are exactly like Herman Cain, but with one exception - at least Herman Cain is honest about supporting the GOP. But Tavis and West are using a technique used by the FBI during COINTELPRO, when J. Edgar Hoover was trying to bring down the civil rights movement in the sixties. During that time Hoover sent in a bunch of "undercover brothers" just like Tavis and West. They were so radically militant that they turned off the American people, and they were so divisive that they caused the movement to turn on itself. That’s exactly what Tavis and West are doing today.
    .
These two turncoats are trying to place Obama in an untenable position. They’re using militant rhetoric to insist that President Obama play Blackjack at a poker table, knowing damn well that he can’t do that. If he tries, he'll turn the American people against him - in which case, he becomes impotent and can't get anything done for anyone. But if he doesn’t, Tavis and West are going to try to turn Black people against him, which would also serve to destroy his presidency.
    .
That’s exactly the same thing the FBI did in the sixties. In the end, they had young Black people (who supported the harder line of Malcolm) calling Martin Luther King, "Martin Luther Coon" - including myself, I’m ashamed to admit. That’s exactly what Tavis and West are doing today. I saw the parallel immediately, and that’s why I’m dead on their asses. Maybe I can make up, just a little bit, for the stupidity of my youth.
    .
Malcolm saw through the problem back in the sixties and tried to instruct his followers not to allow the establishment to divide us among ourselves. He’s said that it didn’t matter whether or not we saw eye-to-eye with Martin's approach on every issue. Our goal was the same, therefore, we were allies. He then made it a point to join with Martin, but they took him out before he could complete the process.
    .
So while Tavis and West are always talking about, "Brother Malcolm," Malcolm would have long since seen through their game, and he would be absolutely disgusted with both of them.

Religious bigotry: It's not that I hate everyone who doesn't look, think, and act like me - it's just that God does.

    Comments

So is Jay-Z just fronting for Mikhail Prokhorov, or does he own real percentage?

And what are your thoughts on Cenk Uyghur's claim that he was replaced by Sharpton because Sharpton's friendlier to Washington?

And now that the election's over, how about a black jobs program before we get on to the Grand Bargain and start cutting "entitlements"?

    Peracles,

I have no intention of following you through these back alleys of unfocused thought. I don't care what Jay-Z own. What does what Jay-Z own have to do with me? That was exactly my point in the article - how is what Jay-Z own any of Cornel West’s business?

And what about Cenk's claim? What evidence do you have that it's true, and not just sour grapes? Personally, I like Cenk, but if I ran the station I might have chosen Sharpton as well. He has more name recognition, and he comes with his own following - and if the network really wanted Cenk, they could have found a spot for him.

There's no such thing as "Black jobs." There are just jobs, and jobs don’t come in racial designations. So the president's job is to create opportunities for all, and it's the Black community's job to see to it that we prepare ourselves to take advantage of those opportunities.

You're doing exactly the same thing that Tavis and West are trying to do  - trying to play Black people against one another. On the other hand, I'm trying to warn them to beware of that tactic.  A good rule of thumb for all Black people is, whenever a conservative feigns concern for their "best interest," they'd better look out.

If Jay-Z is a sign of black entrepreneurship success by owning the Nets, and he's really just a shill/empty sock puppet for a Russian's money, well, that's misleading the black public. Whether that's Cornel West's business, frankly, I thought these guys were paid to mouth off about any issue affecting blacks, no? In any case, I don't follow the Nets, Jay-Z or West, so not my big ticket item.

Cenk made his own evaluation - I trust him based on hard-hitting journalism he's done before. Sure, it can be for name recognition, but media outlets whether papers or news channels are famous for having pseudo-hard-hitting pundits & anchors to pretend fair-and-balanced or tough journalism, while they're selling more diet coke and sneakers.

Re: "Black jobs", yes, there are - they are jobs that blacks once held in large numbers that went away in 2008-2010. No, they don't have "black" written on them, but they were posts that black job contenders would have a chance of holding. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the President's job is to create equal opportunity for all. When Hurricane Sandy hit, Obama didn't rush aid to Texas as well. You're such an apologist for inaction and lack of results. Hispanics wouldn't roll over for this - if the President screwed them on a jobs program or immigration or some other key issue, they'd turn around and vote the other party, stick it back in his eye.

However you are right in one regard - the President is colorless to me. So I don't expect him to screw blacks and leave problems unsolved just because he can't be seen to be showing favoritism. And in this regard, I'm not playing black against black, because the President's just a colorless politician - it's his or her job to get something done, and that's where the buck stops. So 2nd term? Let's see some action, fewer excuses. 14.3% black unemployment doesn't sit right to me when blacks were making a lot of progress in the 90's moving up the ladder and finding productive, well paying jobs that let them buy into stable housing in safe and vibrant neighborhoods. Do you for some reason have an issue with that?

[To answer your column's lede: no, Obama's not the reason black unemployment is so high. He's a lack of a reason why black unemployment should be lower. And to respond to your article's content, I don't think of blacks as cool cats a la rap promos - I think of these as the black civil servants I worked next to when employment opportunities opened up in the 90's, many now out of a job when they're bright and capable and hard working, similar to those around the auto industry who got smacked down or out.]

    Sure, Peracles,

I'm sure your heart bleeds for the plight of the black community. Man, give me a break.

You're right, I don't actually care, I"m just a heartless white racist motherfucker who writes all this verbiage uh, I guess because I've nothing better to do than argue with Wattree who never quite argues back.

Yeah, I"ll give you a break. Sorry I bothered.

    Just one note here Eric.

I just watched Professor Dyson again for an hour; he had taken over for Martin Bashir.

I get a kick out of this guy.

He presents hope (like his wife) and he reminds me that there are so many people out there who really work to better the lives of others rather than just sit back and get paid for putting a sour taste in everyone's mouth.

Of course, Dyson is a professor first and I would give anything to personally view his lectures.

Dyson is not 'for sale'. He needs no extra income to promote his message.

    That is all I got.

Dyson is not 'for sale' and people who accuse him of this preponderance toward bribery would never agree to debate him in front of an audience.

    Dyson would 'kill them'. hahahahahah

    Richard,

I agree with you about Dyson. He's a sharp guy, and he did a great job today. But I wrote him a note about a previous video I saw him in. I warned him about performing for the camera, which he clearly was.

When my kids were youngsters, I used to always tell them not to depend exclusively on their character in order to do the right thing. The best way to ensure personal fidelity is to avoid temptation. That's why I avoid most contact with the electronic media, because celebrity is corrupting, and I want to make absolutely sure that I don't start thinking that I'm more important than my message. That's how we become idiots. Before long we find our selves telling the people what they want to hear, instead of what they need to hear. Another way I try to avoid that is by always writing to a generation yet unborn.

    1) It is your *opinion* that Obama can't push harder or America will turn against him. Many progressives white and black disagree with you. They are not "turncoats" for having another opinion.

    2) Bob Somerby notes how the game is played to get a talk show. Rachel Maddow of Air America slammed Chris Matthews hard for his sexist comments. The next week she backed off and talked about how brilliant Chris is, and the sexist stuff was just a misunderstanding, Chris in a heated moment. A week later, Rachel had a show on MSNBC, next to the "brilliant" Chris Matthews. Cenk Uygur has noted this with Sharpton - muted criticism of Obama or other powers that be - and no doubt it applies to Harris-Perry - she's photogenic, she's intelligent, she's witty, she doesn't stray beyond the borders.

    3) You note: "If he has evidence to substantiate what he's saying, he should produce it. if he doesn't, he should shut up.", but then you throw a ton of stuff about the White establishment propping up West for 35 years. The FBI paying blacks behind the scenes to cause trouble, perhaps even assassinating Malcolm - "That’s exactly what Tavis and West are doing today. I saw the parallel immediately, and that’s why I’m dead on their asses." Okay....

    4) While West/Smiley's criticism of Obama may seem petty & personal to you, the message I got was that they were noting few black chairs at the new table, and it went downhill from there. How many blacks lost their homes due to robo-signing mortgage foreclosure fraud, taking away their promised ticket to middle class? It's still amazing 4 years later that while whites can push white-friendly legislation to "bring back the real America", Obama seems barely able to whisper the word "black" or implement a needed black-friendly program. Dream Act? That's for Hispanics, no problem. Gay marriage? "I've evolved on the issue. Black-friendly legislation? "Ssshhhh, I'll get back to you on that".

    5) What's the plan, Stan? Obama's now in for the 2nd term, he made it despite Tavis & Smiley (<snark/>). Aside from protecting ACA, which should be easier now, and winding down Afghanistan, which should be inevitable, what will he do and what will you push him to do? The "Grand Bargain" will whack Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, affecting blacks disproportionately. Will you be up in arms disagreeing, or is this just one more thing Obama has to do? Can he finally push a jobs program that will help blacks? (one that recognizes the jobs they lost were overwhelmingly gov jobs at fed & state level).

Your colleague at ThyBlackMan just wrote that black unemployment rose from 13.4% to 14.3% in the September report, with an increase of 1.5% for black women, and with the jobless rate for black teens rising 3 points to 40.5%. She notes that the real black unemployment rate of over 1 in 4. When are you going to jump in and add your voice, rather than a weekly diatribe against Tavis & Smiley for speaking too loudly? Things are getting *worse* for blacks, not better, even as the rest of the economy is showing small improvements. Should we really be worried about black unity instead of getting some actual results?

    Peracles, Please!

Whenever I write anything, immediately after I make an assertion I will either give the facts to substantiate my claim, or connect the dots that support why I've come to a given conclusion. Thereafter, I leave whether or not the reader agrees with me up to the reader.

As for your nitpicking through all of the nation's problems and responding to why Obama hasn't addressed this issue or that, I don't play that game, because it's a rhetorical device that only a fool would engage in. That's why it's one of the favorite games of the GOP.

I can make anyone seem to come up short by playing such a silly game, because it can go on endlessly. If I decided to assess my mother based on what she didn't do instead of what she did do, she would always come up short. So why should I get into a game with some idiot where he's asking questions like the following:

1). Did your mother provide you a mansion to live in as a child?

2). Did she buy you new school clothes every week?

3). Did she provide you with security so you would never get beat up after school?

4). Did she buy you a brand new Escalade after you graduated?

It's stupid to get into that sort of thing, and it's stupid for conservatives to think that I'm dumb enough to engage in it.

I'm not going to assess Obama as a president based on what he didn't do, because since no one can do everything, the list will undoubtedly be endless.  I'm going to assess him on what he HAS done, like the following:

1). He stopped the nation from hemorrhaging 800,000 jobs A MONTH under Bush,

2). He stopped the nation from going into a second Great Depression.

3). He save the America auto industry.

4). He was the first president to successfully passed healthcare reform in 70 years.

5). He created more jobs in 27 months than Bush did in 7 years.

6). And he managed to get Osama Bin Laden in his spare time.

    In addition:

    Obama Initiatives

    - Spur Job Creation: "In addition, to help those most affected by the recession, the Budget will extend emergency assistance to seniors and families with children, Unemployment Insurance benefits, COBRA tax credits, and relief to states and localities to prevent layoffs."

    .

    - Reforming the Job Training System: "The Budget calls for reform of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which supports almost 3,000 One-Stop Career Centers nationwide and a range of other services. With $6 billion for WIA at DOL—and an additional $4 billion in the Department of Education—the Budget calls for reforms to improve WIA." Strengthen Anti-Discrimination Enforcement: "To strengthen civil rights enforcement against racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, religious, and gender discrimination, the Budget includes an 11 percent increase in funding to the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. This investment will help the Division handle implementation of a historic new hate crimes law. The Budget also provides an $18 million, or 5 percent increase, for the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC), which is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee. This increased investment will allow for more staff to reduce the backlog of private sector charges."

    .
    - Support Historically Black Colleges and Universities: "The Budget proposes $642 million, an increase of $30 million over the 2010 level, to support Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), including Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In addition to this discretionary funding increase for MSIs, the Administration supports legislation passed by the House of Representatives and pending in the Senate that would provide $2.55 billion in mandatory funding to MSIs over 10 years."
    .
    - Help Families Struggling with Child Care Costs: "The Budget will nearly double the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit for middle-class families making under $85,000 a year by increasing their credit rate from 20 percent to 35 percent of child care expenses. Nearly all eligible families making under $115,000 a year would see a larger credit. The Budget also provides critical support for young children and their families by building on historic increases provided in ARRA. The Budget provides an additional $989 million for Head Start and Early Head Start to continue to serve 64,000 additional children and families funded in ARRA."
    .
    - Reform Elementary and Secondary School Funding: "The Budget supports the Administration’s new vision for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) … The Budget provides a $3 billion increase in funding for K-12 education programs authorized in the ESEA, including $900 million for School Turnaround Grants, and the Administration will request up to $1 billion in additional funding if Congress successfully completes ESEA reauthorization."
    .
    - Increase Pell Grants: "The Recovery Act and 2009 appropriations bill increased the maximum Pell Grant by more than $600 for a total award of $5,350. The Budget proposes to make that increase permanent and put them on a path to grow faster than inflation every year, increasing the maximum grant by $1,000, expanding eligibility, and nearly doubling the total amount of Pell grants since the President took office."

    .
    - Help Relieve Student Loan Debt: "To help graduates overburdened with student loan debt, the Administration will strengthen income-based repayment plans for student loans by reducing monthly payments and shortening the repayment period so that overburdened borrowers will pay only 10 percent of their discretionary income in loan repayments and can have their remaining debt forgiven after 20 years. Those in public service careers will have their debt forgiven after 10 years. The Budget also expands low-cost Perkins student loans."
    .
    - Prevent Hunger and Improve Nutrition: "The President’s Budget provides $8.1 billion for discretionary nutrition program supports, which is a $400 million increase over the 2010 enacted level. Funding supports 10 million participants in the WIC program, which is critical to the health of pregnant women, new mothers, and their infants. The Budget also supports a strong Child Nutrition and WIC reauthorization package that will ensure that school children have access to healthy meals and to help fulfill the President’s pledge to end childhood hunger. The President continues to support the nutrition provisions incorporated in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)."
    .
    - Revitalize Distressed Urban Neighborhoods: "The Budget includes $250 million for HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods program, which will target neighborhoods anchored by distressed public or assisted housing with physical and social revitalization grounded in promising, measurable, and evidence-based strategies."
    .
    - Increase Funding for the Housing Choice Voucher Program: "The President’s Budget requests $19.6 billion for the Housing Choice Voucher program to help more than two million extremely low income families with rental assistance to live in decent housing in neighborhoods of their choice. The Budget continues funding for all existing mainstream vouchers and provides flexibility to support new vouchers that were leased and $85 million in special purpose vouchers for homeless families with children, families at risk of homelessness, and persons with disabilities."
    .
    - Preserve 1.3 Million Affordable Rental Units through Project-Based Rental Assistance Program: "The President’s Budget provides $9.4 billion for the Project-Based Rental Assistance program to preserve approximately 1.3 million affordable rental units through increased funding for contracts with private owners of multifamily properties. This critical investment will help low-income households to obtain or retain decent, safe and sanitary housing. In addition, the Administration requests $350 million to fund the first phase of this multi-year initiative to regionalize the Housing Choice Voucher program and convert Public Housing to project-based vouchers."
    .
    - Promote Affordable Homeownership and Protect Families from Mortgage Fraud: "The Budget requests $88 million for HUD to support homeownership and foreclosure prevention through Housing Counseling and $20 million to combat mortgage fraud. In addition, the Budget requests $250 million for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation’s (NRC) grant and training programs. Of the $250 million, $113 million is requested for foreclosure prevention activities, a $48 million increase (74 percent) over 2010."

    .
    - Fight Gang Violence and Violent Crime: "The Budget provides $112 million for place-based, evidence supported, initiatives to combat violence in local communities, including $25 million for the Community-Based Violence Prevention Initiatives that aim to reduce gun and other violence among youth gangs in cities and towns across the country, and $37 million for the Attorney General’s Children Exposed to Violence Initiative, which targets the youth most affected by violence and most susceptible to propagating it as they grow up."
    .
    - Expand Prisoner Re-entry Programs: "The Budget provides $144 million for Department Justice prisoner re-entry programs, including an additional $100 million for the Office of Justice Programs to administer grant programs authorized by the Second Chance Act and $30 million for residential substance abuse treatment programs in State and local prisons and jails. In addition, the Budget provides $98 million for Department of Labor programs that provide employment-centered services to adult and youth ex-offenders and at-risk youth.."
    .
    - Fully Fund the Community Development Block Grant Program: "The Budget provides $4.4 billion for the Community Development Fund, including $3.99 billion for the Community Development Block Grant Formula Program (CDBG), and $150 million for the creation of a Catalytic Investment Competition Grants program. The new Catalytic Competition Grants program uses the authorities of CDBG, but will provide capital to bring innovative economic development projects to scale to make a measurable impact."

So don't try to play these games with me. I gave up playing in the sandbox as a kid. And by the way, send a copy of this to Tavis and West (Mutt and Jethro) - you seem to be a fan.

"As for your nitpicking through all of the nation's problems and responding to why Obama hasn't addressed this issue or that" - get real - I talked about black unemployment and illegal mortgage foreclosures, 2 issues that greatly affect the black community, not, as you absurdly put it, 'nitpicking through all the nation's problems'.

California passed Prop 36 reducing unjust penalties under 3 strikes, which should also help the black community incarcerated for pot busts as #3. But this is all nitpicky to you - isn't this fighting back against the war on drugs something blacks hoped Obama would handle?

Instead you toss out the standard press release / policy position as if it says something. An extra $100 million to help prisoners readapt - wow, that's $100 per black prisoner. More education doesn't solve the cut in federal and state government jobs that blacks used to possess. Blacks have some of the highest educated folks in the unemployment line - that helps how?

So as you say, "don't try to play these games with me"- if you give a shit, show it. If you don't, write another 3 or 5 articles on West & Smiley. Otherwise, which are the gaps in Obama's program, and what do you suggest doing to pressure government action - whether Congress or the White House or both. You're the one who says Cornel West is all talk, no action - maybe that's what's getting your goat.

    Peracles,

You've just demonstrated why I really don't like to waste time trying to engage in discussions with people like yourself. You may not be racist, but you're so caught up in your White supremacist mindset that you're unable to view the world in any other way. Thus, before we can even try to have a rational discussion it'll be necessary to educate you, and trying to educate people of your ilk is like trying to teach a goldfish to ride a skateboard.

Let me give you an example of what I mean.  You said, "So as you say, "don't try to play these games with me"- if you give a shit, show it. If you don't, write another 3 or 5 articles on West & Smiley."

The implication is, writing articles on Tavis Smiley and Cornel West is a frivolous activity because, obviously, they're unimportant, at least, in the way that you view the world. On the other hand, I could have written two years worth of articles on Mitt Romney and you wouldn't have said a word. That's because through your tainted view of the world, he's significant, and therefore, worth writing about.

So you're obviously under the impression that your view of the world is the only view of the world that has any significance. But the fact is, the Tavis/West phenomenon is extremely significant in the Black community, because they're engaged in a mode of behavior that's dragged Black people down, and has served to keep us down, for the past 400 years. Thus, for us, the importance of Mitt Romney pales in comparison.

Therefore, your attitude, at least on this subject, clearly shows that while you may or may not be a bigot, your outlook on the world is without a doubt racially tainted. We discussed this subject with respect to your comments to my last article. At that time I asked you to explain to me how you justified associating dogs and pimps with black people - which you still haven't answered, by the way.

But again, that's why I don't like to be bothered with you, or people of your ilk in discussions such as this. You tend to be so far out of touch with reality that I become impatient with you.  While you may be a great guy to sit up, drink beer, and fart around, in order for you to engage me in any kind of meaningful political dialogue, we'd have to go out and find you a cultural interpreter. Many Americans tend to have that shortcoming on a macro level as well. We're the Beverly Hillbillies of the world.

Might be a good time to go take a walk, Wattree.

    "White supremacist?"

As so often, Q, you beat me to the punch-line.

I'm a "White Supremacist" for worrying about black unemployment and mortgage theft, while Tavis/West are just part and parcel of the worst things that happened to blacks over the last 400 years. Who knew?

The way I throw out slurs like "pickaninny"..... oh wait, that was Wattree who did.

No trace of hyperbole or parody or sarcasm to smooth the edges - just straight up accusatory reporting with the purported blessing of Malcolm & MLK at every step. Guess it's time to bury this thread, Ionesco would feel disoriented.

    Qnonymous,

No I think you need to go take a walk. Then maybe you won't feed the need to twist words and phrases out of context in an attempt to make them mean what you want them to mean.

I think I was very careful in trying to make sure that the phrase wasn't misinterpreted to mean overtly racist, but arrogantly out of touch with with anything other than the White point of view. I said, "You may not be racist, but you're so caught up in your White supremacist mindset that you're unable to view the world in any other way."  Yet . . .

You're so out of touch you thinking "caught up in your White supremacist mindset" is a normal reaction to what we've discussed. Hasta luego.
