The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age
    MrSmith1's picture

Look! Up in the Sky! It's another Friday afternoon at the Haiku-lodeon ...

Here's this week's heap of haikus:

    "Thou and I are too
    wise to woo peaceably." (And
    so, they sparred with words.)

(Happy 448th Birthday this past week, William Shakespeare.)

Note: Laugh if you will, but that haircut was very popular at the time.)

    He had tried so hard
to always do what was right,
    there was nothing left.

    At the Dew Drop Inn,
the dude dropped out; he logged in,
    but then he passed out.

    Under the table
is no place to be when your
    boss takes you to lunch.

    -------------------------------------

haiku re-dux: Deep in the forest,
    patches of stippled sunlight,
    warm a leaf-strewn trail.

    -------------------------------------

    When he needed help,
he knew who to call, and who
    didn't want to know.

    --------------------------------------

    Actor heard praying
    while crossing Shubert Alley;
    "God, the first act sucks."

    ------------------------------------------

tanka haiku: There is a sad fear
    that's buried deep in our hearts;
    that no love will last.

So we pray that Time's not cruel
    and our memories won't fade.

    -----------------------------------------

    Flowery bouquets,
made the room seem less dreary.
    and offset her tears.

    -------------------------------------

    haiku: Hiding in the field,
    he overheard ev'rything,
    then figured things out.

    ----------------------------------------------

    haiku: There are no rainbows
    in a world of absolutes,
    only black or white.

    --------------------------------------------

haiku: Best be kind to him.
While he poses no threat, he
    makes a good ally.

    ----------------------------------------

    We're not bound to earth
when our lives are stuck in mud
    for our hopes still soar.

    ------------------------------------------

    There's a twilight time
    between dusk and eve'ning that
    nurtures reflection.

    ---------------------------------------

haiku re-dux: At the sky's edges,
    mountaintops still pierce the clouds,
    to peek at heaven.

    ----------------------------------------------

    To impress his 'girl',
the young man sent the small stone
    skimming 'cross the lake.

    -------------------------------------------

tanka haiku: You can't hold back Love,
it will gush forth from your heart
    and spurt through your eyes
       like ... adoring laser beams.
(So, be careful where you aim.)

(Note: I know this is a really bad haiku, but its ludicrous images made me laugh.  Unfortunately some of my friends on Facebook didn't get the joke and thought I had lost my mind or at the very least, my ability to write haikus. What can I say? Sometimes stupid things make me laugh.)

    Comments

I will not laugh at your haircut.

I will, however, chuckle at the tights.

    cheeky

Just change the 'will not' to 'won't' and you've answered in haiku form. Brilliant! LOL

    I won't laugh at your
    haircut, I will, however,
    chuckle at the tights.

    The blogger will write

    Words to jangle, joggle, jab

    But the screen is dim

    Good one!

    The point of the heart

spurs words that jingle, joggle ...

    Dim Screen meet Dim Sum.

I know you are going to hit us tomorrow with your poetry.

I just thought it was so nice of Dagblog to acknowledge such.

I dunno, it made me feel goooooooooooooood!
