Six white armed plainclothes NYC cops tackled 35 year old James Blake former world top 10 tennis pro in front of his Manhattan hotel as he tried to go to the US Open. Relying on an instagram photo of a 'near twin' of Blake who turned out to be the wrong guy also. Blake was slammed into a pole and tackled to the ground without being asked for ID. To top it off the 6 cops involved didn't even file a report. Spineless wonder Mayor DeBlasio and his Gestapo Chief Bratton heard about it on the news.
Comments
The idea that pulling your pants up or not wearing a hoodie will keep you safe as a black man is bogus. Neither the person in the picture said to look like Blake's twin brother or Blake himself was actually involved in the suspected crime.
None of the police officers involved made out an official report about the incident. They were undercover so the rule about police cameras would not have applied to them. They would have hidden the crime if Blake had not been someone "important".
This summer has been the safest summer in NYC in decades, despite the blather about police protests encouraging crime

Once in awhile, THEY get caught.
I was struck by this news.

But usually it doesn't matter when they get caught.
Some years ago I happened to be visiting my mother and as we watched the news there was the video of Rodney King playing. My mother, who tries to be modern but is still a bit racist, was shocked and said, "How could they think they could get away with that!"
I didn't say that they've been doing it for years but since there was no video everyone believed what ever story the cops told. There was no point. My mother would never accept any explanation except a one time episode by a few "bad apple" cops.
But in the end THEY got caught. It didn't matter. They still got away with it

Look, they got caught because they did not see that they were attacking the wrong guy,
If this had been a Joe citizen, the news would have never published it.
We have 320 million folks in this country.
And the wrong guys are attacked every goddamn day.
THEY aint gettin away with it this time.
That is all I am sayin.

Christie's firing a bunch of cops in Camden sounds like a plan however.
Maybe spineless wonder DeBlasio could start with Bratton and these 6 but I doubt it.
Six cops (six as in more than 5, less than 7) working undercover with a bogus photo with a cooperating suspect and they don't even identify themselves?
Just beat him to the ground? And take off without even an apology... and do not file a report?
SOP for NYC's Finest it appears.
The union will back them up of course, they would back them up even if Blake had a couple vertebrae broken. Cop unions, giving a bad name to unions.
