Yes, they mention one of the most brilliant most un-PC 1-liners in the history of comedy.

Silverman is making a valiant effort to talk to the deplorables. Has this technique ever worked. Have deplorables ever changed without confrontation? Ida B. Wells confronted the travesty of lynching directly. W.E.B. DuBois formed the NAACP in direct opposition to the deplorables of his time. Martin Luther King Jr. directly confronted the deplorables of his day. Wells, DuBois and King were all accused of being too aggressive.
Evangelicals stood in support of Roy Moore. Liberal pastors who merely follow Jesus directly confronted the Evangelicals. If Liberal pastors tried to break bread with they Evangelicals, they Liberal pastors would be accused of appeasement. Liberal pastors would be accused of being hypocrites.
Wins in Virginia and New Jersey were all about confrontation. It was about getting out the black vote to counter the votes of the deplorables. The only way Doug Jones can win in Alabama is if black turnout is high enough that along with about 30-35% of the white vote and 70% of the Latino and Asian vote. The deplorables are not voting Doug Jones.

At some point, the deplorable fever will break and they will realize that the Republicans are taking away their healthcare. raising their taxes, and decreasing their access to a quality education. That lowering of temperature will take time.

She is how culture change happens.
I don't think we'd have gay marriage in this country without things like Ellen and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. That change happened relatively quickly, too. I remember back in like 2005 on the news site I participated on, long threads about how it would never happen.
Of course, looking big picture scenario, we're experiencing the blowback now from all of the liberal wins, a black president, gay marriage, etc. But that's the way radical culture change works historically, it takes a generation or two to really sink in, there's the residual skirmishes to work out.
P.S. Being humorously un-P.C. is really important sometimes. People laugh in such a situation because it makes them nervous. It breaks boundaries. But it has to be done well to have good effect I think we had a discussion in the past along these lines about Andrew Dice Clay? I didn't think he has the genius level needed to be effective.

Clay was a moron with 1 good joke, and way over-the-top attitude shtick. Here's Courtney Love owning a crowd. With a song totally about shitheads like Weinstein - "Celebrity Skin". It's the Camilia Paglia thing - not everyone or even many can pull it off for sure, but those who can can crush them some balls when needed. (Note: she rocks as a performer and songwriter as well - rather key).
Does anyone remember the totally juvenile asshat "I saw your boobies" at the Oscars 1 or 2 years ago? *That* was gagworthy.

Chrissie Hynde wanted a kid by Ray Davies, and went and had a kid by Ray Davies. She didn't marry him. Vwry different times.
