Two explosions have been reported near the Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street as thousands of people gathered for the race, and there are reports of injuries.

Two people were killed and at least 23 people were injured when two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday.
A senior U.S. intelligence official said two more explosive devices were found near the area, and they were being dismantled.
The first blasts happened at about 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets. Bloody spectators were carried away from the area, and witnesses said several victims lost limbs.
A Rhode Island state trooper who had just finished the race ran to help the victims.
"We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs," he said. "At least 25 to 30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle missing, or two legs missing."
"People started throwing down the barricade and running over one another. I literally saw the garbage barrel explode, and I ran as fast as I could," said one runner.
Boston police said two people died, and at least 22 were injured. Many tired and scared runners were seen wandering around the area, desperate to find loved ones.
A doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital said the injured looked as if they "were in a war zone." [.....]

This is a terrible situation indeed.
NYT keeps looping, I am checking all cable channels and all on-air channels are covering this--except FOX on-air.
MSNBC IS NOW SAYING TWO DEAD AND 23 INJURED.
THIS IS A BIGGER DEAL THAN I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT.
This cannot be coincidental!
The Boston Marathon is an international event since 1897.

Now FOX is saying they have discovered two more bombs that are being 'dismantled'.
Which means to me anyway that there is terrorist human error here. Otherwise, why the delay.

I just updated my original post from Boston TV, WCVB.
Also, there was just a police news conference I had in the background on CNN that said there was a 3rd explosion at the JFK library, with no injuries. They said the next conference would be @ 7 pm.
As well as what you are checking, I would recommend my original link, as they seem to be updating it quite often. The local TV news is often best at this stage of the game, since they are trying inform the population but not to panic them. The news conference updates will probably be included at the WCVB link shortly. Note right now they have the same info. about 2 more devices that you heard on FOX: A senior U.S. intelligence official said two more explosive devices were found near the area, and they were being dismantled.

..and the JFK library is 5 MILES from the bombing at the marathon finish line. 6 of the injured are reported to be critical.
Of course the Oklahoma City bombing and the Waco incident were both in mid-April, CNN. It seems to be an important month for the so-called 'Patriot' movement.

both in mid-April
April 15, IRS day. I had local NYC news on in the background when I heard the breaking report of this story, which the anchor said was on the AP wire. Before that, they were doing "rush to the Post Office to get the postmark" interviews.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of abandoned bags, plus, runners had personal bags, backpacks, whatever, waiting at the finish line. They must all look pretty scary.

I for one have never been against the institution of random search of bags on the NYC subway. When that was started, on the forum I frequented back then, you would have thought from the outrage that it was the end of the civil rights. I thought: nobody is forcing you to use the subway. Likewise, the reaction to Iraq stories about frisking people waiting in lines back then, there was outrage for all the supposedly offended modest Islamic people. Well, I'd be happy for my Mom to have to wear a bathing suit to wait in line for cooking oil if it meant a lesser chance she'd be blown to bits doing so.

Wow, pretty startling comment.
No one forces you to take the most economic & direct way to work - let them take chauffeur-driven limos if it offends them.
Of course none of this would have led to stop-and-frisk overreach and racial profiling of various ethnic groups.
Well, looks like in the end no one was blown to bits, but I'm sure some suffered years of torment with the increased chance of being so.
(I read an interchange with Salman Rushdie yesterday, and one of the complaints lobbed at him was he was putting young storeclerks in dangers' way by not backing off and shit-canning his "insult" [what he typically referred to as a "novel"]. What his attacker didn't seem to grasp is that these dainty things handling his books were determined to, and not scared off by high-pitched religious threats. But easy to toss our freedoms out for some thin gruel on a cold night)
Meanwhile, as you posted, well planned explosions continue around Iraq, a little memento we left behind from our misadventure. I don't think they've implicated any women yet who refuse to wear swimsuits.

After watching the events unfold yesterday, I am reminded of the drone strikes we use against other peoples, in other lands, who have gathered to celebrate.. I hope Obama will bring to Washington, some of the victims of yesterdays assault, to demand an end these indiscriminate weapons? What a cowardly act, one example for reflection; ....what the heck did .....Martin Richard, ......the 8 year old vicitm ever do, to fall prey to such malice? What ever could justify this murderer? I grieve for the loss and hope we can find out answers quickly; not only who caused this to happen, but why?

People trying to reach friends and family in Boston should note (from the current WCVB article): Cellphone service has been shut down in the Boston area to prevent any potential remote detonations of explosives, a law enforcement source said.

A Murdoch rag, the NY Post has already headlined a Saudi man wounded from the bomb as a suspect. TPM reports the police say it's not true.
