This is a surprising op-ed from someone who is as far from a dilettante on the Afghanistan area as someone from the West can be.

Some of the drone attacks have been war crimes, but Obama's leftist critics seem to consider any drone attacks to be criminal, and I don't think they have the Geneva Convention on their side.

I'd agree - there are valid military uses for drones, and valid surveillance uses for drones. It's just when we get into the latest weapons system man crush (Patriot missile! Save our cities! Tasers! Yum!) we just go bang out lobbying for the arms industry to disperse everywhere, and forget collateral damage, loss of rights, all those niggling details...
