You probably already know I'm a big fan of my hybrid, but what I don't think I've mentioned before is that my wife isn't. She's talking about how she's considering not having a hybrid for our next car (although I hope to convince her that the minor bugs we've had to put up with should be fixed by then).

Yeah, my wife isn't a big fan of me biking in traffic. I was thinking that not buying another hybrid might be due to the owners becoming parents, wanting family cars, then finding that larger hybrids are much more expensive than their ICE stablemates. That would explain the Prius v.

That's part of it for us, as well. We're considering having a child, and for some reason my wife thinks that our Civic Hybrid might not be big enough for a 3-person (and one cat) household. (?!?!?)

I asked the remaining Prius owner in our office (the other one retired last year). He loves his three-year-old model, but complains that he has to go to dealers for repairs and routine maintenance, and they charge a fortune. He is envious of the new eco mode that lets you stay on battery, because whenever he accelerates from a stop it switches to gas mode.
