This is the reason I believe Gorsuch should be denied a vote now. Does anyone believe that an Obama appointment would have gone through if the FBI had announced that his administration was under investigation for colluding with Russia to help his campaign?
The Merrick Garland issue is also worth going to the mat over. Gorsuch's evasions are not that different from our own nominees, but then there is his plagiarism, and his general oiliness.
But the ultimate issue for me is that the person who appointed him is UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE FBI! Can you imagine McConnell dealing with that for a Dem President?

BTW, I dont get what the drama is about the nuclear option, The fiilibuster would always be used in the future because of the toxicity that is not going away. So if they didnt do it for this nominee then would do it for the next, so the end game is the same. If somehow no one on the Supreme Court dies or retires before this great national embarrassment is over, the next SC nominee will have no greater hurdle than Gorsuch.

There seems to be a growing group on the left that's saying, "fight god damn it. If we lose we lose but let us go down fighting." I've always been there but the dem politicians are responding to something. It seems there are more of us. Yes filibuster, even if it's just a symbol that's says we are going to fight. I hope that hardening spine doesn't dissolve away in the next couple of years

Part of it was Harry Reid (I sometimes wondered if they had a ton of Kompromat on him), part is game theory. The GOP overplayed - we just saw we would never win aside from a hollow no-nuclear-but-lost-anyway result
