Ava DuVernay, the director of "Selma", edits film for a living. Both she and Ben Norton of the LA Times note that the 52-minute video released by the local police department of the traffic stop involving Sandra Bland has been edited. One glaring clue to the edit is a white car that disappears while traveling down the left lane of the street. This obviously raises questions about the trustworthiness of local law enforcement.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the video was not doctored, but had glitches. The corrected video is due today

Both anomalies happened when the Trooper is speaking with someone (at the station?) on his cell phone.

“I am, I really am,” she replies, “because I feel like it’s crap is what I’m getting a ticket for, I was getting out of your way, you were speeding up, tailing me so I moved over and you stopped me so yeah, I am a little irritated but that doesn’t stop you from giving me a ticket, so.”
Sandra Bland, from video of arrest. The Guardian.
The cop made a U-turn, accelerated up behind her, tailgated her, and then when she moved to the right to get out of the way he stopped her, dragged her out of the car, threatened to 'lite her up', physically assaulted her and then arrested her. Three days in isolated lockup later she is dead.
Not an episode from the Twilight Zone. A vignette of life and 'public service' by uniformed 'professionals' in Waller County, Texas.

We then have this video of an NYPD Lt manhandling an 11-year old girl who did nothing wrong. She saw police pull up for an incident that did not involve her. She ran away not knowing what would happen when told to come towards the police Lt, she complied. She was manhandled, sent to jail, and subsequently released with no charges. The police Lt says that he and the girl slipped on ice. Police lie routinely. They abuse people of color routinely. For the most part they get away with abuse.

I'm glad someone else posted, I'm too upset to write much.
In the meantime, in Denton, Texas, a guy who has been protesting the monument gets confronted by some white dude with a AK 15, probably loaded. When the cop gets there he tells the open carry prick the gun should be put in a sling.
Smoking cigarette in car vs. loaded AK 15. Texas.
When this open carry law for side arms goes into effect here in January, I really don't know if I want to continue living in this state. So far, 7 stores announced a no-carry policy. I'm in a rural county, so don't know how it's going to go down.
I'm thinking of wearing a holster with a dildo hanging out of it. Probably get arrested, or shot, or both. Have gun will travel---old Paladin cartoon.
Sometimes I really miss Vermont.

Besides other things, I have been watching MSNBC.
I think I received five traffic tickets in forty years or more and many parking violation tickets of course.
My son had some Black friends over the years, and he really got the message from those friends.
And they would joke about it.
Up here in Minnesota for Chrissakes!
My son has one ticket for his entire lifetime (I know not about parking violations) but he rode the wave.
This just stinks.
Oh and rmrd, hit the link thingy up top and then put the link in.
It took me long enough to figure it out and I still to this day use the same mechanism in order to wrk with the News site. In the end, it works so that I am covered.
