Contrary to the usual groundless Republican race-baiting, the huge Wallow fire was caused by two reckless local Arizona residents camping out. John McCain had said that "there is substantial evidence these fires are caused by people who cross the border illegally" while the fires were raging out of control. There was 'no evidence' of that, there was evidence even before McCain opened his piehole that the fire was caused by irresponsible local Arizona campers. The involvement of two was found almost immediately, as they were picked up by Forest Service personnel and sheriffs the next day. They were wandering around roads in the area as they couldn't return to their campsite due to flames and smoke. One of their chained dogs died at the campsite.

I'm sure John McCain will apologize for the mistake real soon...

Republicans lose interest in an issue pretty fast once they've stirred up the base with inflammatory lies, there is always another issue to exploit with partisan posturing and falsehoods.
