The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

    HERMAN CAIN IS AN EMBARRASSMENT

    Herman Cain

Barney Frank: Conservatives,” he quipped, “believe that, from the standpoint of the federal government, life begins at conception and ends at birth.” And: “The problem with the war in Iraq is not so much the intelligence as the stupidity.” And: “I’m used to being in the minority. I’m a left-handed, gay Jew.” But in the end, Frank’s legacy is more that of an entertainer’s than a legislator's

I got drunk watching THE HANGOVER that finally hit basic cable with hemorrhoid commercials.

It was very apropos or interesting or....oh who cares?

I made the biggest mistake of my life watching Herman Cain sober as he dropped the curtain on his colossal failure as a human being let alone his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States of America.

I mean I watched that jive turkey give his Last_Hurrah on national TV and I wondered:

HOW IN THE FUCK COULD AMERICANS, (albeit 30 % of repubs who give one goddamn about primaries) EVEN ENTERTAIN THE POSSIBILITY OF A MAN WITH THE BRAIN OF A BILLY GOAT BECOMING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I was talking with one of my two kids a week or so ago, really before viewing the highlights of this jackass's proclivity for pussy became public. And I noted that this moron's candidacy would make African-Americans look like the dumbest segment of the World's population if it were not for the fact that a Black Man was President of the United States.

I shall never forget the attacks on President Obama that he had to experience with regard to his insistence of taking his family to church services.

I mean FOX news made it look like Reverend Wright was a member of the top management in al Qaeda.

    GODDAMN AMERICA!

    SHITE!!!!!

This pizza magnet had to be one of the dumbest human beings I have ever witnessed as a member of a repub debating team seeking a repub nomination. And that says something about Herman Cain.

You win the frickin lottery and all of a sudden you are reckoned as a genius!

At least The_Hangover was based upon a true story.

If you have no job, it is your fault, not the fault of America, not the fault of the government, and not the fault of the banking insitutions, and not the fault of capitalism.

    FUCK YOU CAIN.

Now I really believe that half of Cain's support can be attributed to the fact that half of the repubs who demonstrated some faith in him (per Pudge Luntz's polling) can be attributed to the fact that most repubs thought he was McCain!

But Herman Cain has proved something to me.

I had thought that O'Donnell and Palin and Bachmann and...(whatever) had already proved this point.

But Cain, an idiot, could simply be raised to the level of a real repub candidate for the Chief Executive of this Nation by MSM.

WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH THIS COUNTRY?

Thank you. Thank you my friends. Well you’ll are great. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I love y’all too. (Crowd chants Gloria, Gloria, Gloria…).

Well let me first say that as usual Cain supporters are not warm weather supporters and I can’t thank all of you enough for what you’ve done, how far we have come, the things that we have done. The things that we have been able to achieve. You know I chose to run for President because the politicians in Washington DC wouldn’t do their jobs. That’s why I chose to run.

They failed to provide economic growth, they have failed to get spending under control, they have failed to make us less dependent on foreign oil. These are some of the reasons that inspired me to run for President. And if you look, if you look at the last twenty years, we’ve seen that same kind of failure. It’s just that the mess has just gotten bigger.

You were frustrated, I was frustrated, millions of other people were frustrated, and it was out of that frustration that I made the decision to run because the people in Washington DC are either playing the blame game or pointing fingers or throwing crumbs to the American people., rather than bold solutions to fix the problems

Cain goes on and on about all the lies told about him! And the entire time he is lying.

Oh I do not run for pussy, he says! Shite!

Then he just goes on to form his own 'action committee'.

These 'lies' disseminated by Cain cannot match the lies he has told Americans over the last year.

    Lies?

I don't have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe  that these demonstrations (Occupy Together) are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don't blame Wall Street. Don't blame the big banks. If  you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself!

African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view. I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative. So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple.

And I'm here to tell you, the reaction that I'm getting around the country, people are sick and tired of this word in Washington, compromise. This is why nothing ever gets done.

I am an American. Black. Conservative. I don't use African-American, because I'm American, I'm black and I'm conservative. I don't like people trying to label me. African- American is socially acceptable for some people, but I am not some people.

I can go on and on.

His speech made me run to the outhouse and empty my stomach of all things good and bad in one fell swoop. (Can you really empty your stomach in one fell swoop? Mixed metaphors are a sign of the decline of the English language for sure!)

I can diss Newt and I can diss Mitt and I can diss Michele and I can diss Ron and I can diss Ricky.

    It is all too easy.

But this Cain is a sonofabitch who deserves no honors for anything he as ever done or ever will do.

All I can say after watching each and every repub candidate for the Presidency of these United States of America is:

    GODDAMN AMERICA.

If this is your America, I want no part of it!

If I had never heard of Noam_Chomsky

    I would come this conclusion.

As Alan Garner says in the Hangover:

I did not know they gave out rings in the Holocaust.

Our nation is so fucked up right now, I have no idea how to react.

MSNBC, the only real source of news on cable I can find, attempts to make some sense about Cain's last curtain call!

    There is no sense.

There is no sense in what Michele has to say.

There is no sense in what Ricky has to say.

There is no sense in what Ron has to say.

There is no sense in what Newt has to say.

There is no consistency let alone sense in what the Mitt has to say.

And there never was any sense as to what a pizza magnate (who relied upon the blood sweat and tears of minimum wagers his entire life) had to say about anything.

    I finish with this warning.

DO NOT WATCH A HERMAN CAIN SPEECH WHILST ONE IS SOBER!

    Comments

Republican candidates and their campaign is very exhausting and at the same time scarry. What kind of ego do they have that makes them think they are presidential material? What a sorry bunch the Republican party has to choose from.

All I know is that a week after the 2012 election; the campaign will start all over again!

    There is no sense....

Exactly.  LOL  Fine post - I enjoyed it and I hope you feel better after writing it because I feel better after reading it. My sister and I sat at the edge of my bed and were yelling at the TV the whole time.

"Why are you standing back there behind him trying to somehow bolster his lies?" to Gloria. (Sorry, but she can't believe he's being honest, so she's being dishonest as well and as a woman that just pisses me off.)

When the flimsy cloth from atop "The Cain Solutions" banner came down behind Herman, kind of slowly and messily, like the end of his actual campaign played out, I had to watch the rest from behind my hands over my eyes.

But when he, again, quoted the theme song to Pokemon, I threw myself back onto the bed, covered my face, and hoped the rest of the world chose to spend their day doing anything but watching the shame of absurd American politics play out in HD.

You're spot on about something, too.  Thank God we have Obama in the White House while this freak show was playing out, otherwise Herman Cain could have done far more damage to African Americans in this country than he did to his own personal life and to the dignity of his own party.

    Good read, Richard. Thanks!

Obviously Cain identified strongly with Brock, who despite that permanent squint, falls in love with every girl he meets.

I was never that familiar with Pokemon. Ironically Wiki tells me it is a shortened form of pocket monster.

The irony is that the only thing that could get this idiot out of the race--was his pocket monster. hahahaha

Thank you for the kind words.

I suppose it shows but I did not spend much time on this post. Like you note, I was so damned angry about it all that I just went on a rant.

This prick admits nothing! And he is not just a bald faced lying hypocrite; he is a bad lying hypocrite.

Oh well, I am glad I got it all out of my system. hahahha

Great rant, Mr. Day. Makes one feel kind of dirty watching that crap on T.V. This entire Republican primary process seems to be one big Reality Show. Murdock knows how to bring an entire culture to heel.

But there are human interest aspects. How many times have we watched the disillusioned faces of the wives.  The worst was Spitzer's wife, complete devastation. But then later, she blamed herself, which was also disgusting to watch.

I will admit I was intrigued by O'Donnell's interview of Ginger White. It was the pure banality of the relationship---what seemed to be a loveless transaction, sex for trips, a few laughs and some help with the rent---all of which she realized was ultimately injurious to her kids.  In terms of people leading lives of quiet desperation, hoping for a few good times, trying to raise kids on a single parent's salary, being caught up in something they never thought would become public--Ginger White is the poster person.

As for Gloria, she had to suspect something over the years. But again---denial, family, the benefits of income. Who really wants to rock the boat, even when their inner self well knows the truth?

My own mother's name is Gloria. ha

I feel bad for Gloria. She seems like a really nice woman. A pretty woman. Nice smile.

And this type of behavior goes on regardless of party politics.

It is when these hypocritical bastards with 'family values' get caught and then deny, deny, deny...

    Oh well.

Herman Cain is just the latest in a line of Black republicans who have been "an embarrassment to the race. You can read that is the entire human race or other Black Americans in particular. Black Republicans have told the majority of Black American voters that the majority was trapped on the "Democratic plantation". Cain's remarks about Blacks being "brainwashed" followed the same trend. The idea is that the Republican message is not harmful to the economic position of voting Blacks is not seen as a problem. The tax burden on most Blacks would increase under the GOP, but Blacks are "brainwashed"

Cain comes after the buffoon Michael Steele ran the RNC. Steele shows up with a backwards baseball cap and a pseudo-hip-hop demeanor. Steele rose through the ranks to reach the GOP hierarchy. No one would consider Steele to have done a competent job as the head of the RNC.

Alan Keys ran against Barack Obama for the Senate seat in Illinois. People realized how absolutely insane Keys was when Keys tried to articulate his positions.Armstrong Williams got caught taking Payola for endorsing "No Child Left Behind".

Try to name a credible Black Republican..... Crickets.

Colin Powell doesn't count because he supported Obama. Limbaugh promptly said that Powell was voting for Obama because he (applies to both Powell and Obama) was Black.

Black Republicans serve merely as "credible sources" to provide words that white Conservatives can use to attack the Black community. "Brainwashed" and "High tech lynching" are current examples.

Democrats can have uncomfortable but vigorous disagreements about race. Note the Democratic Primary race of 2008. At the end of that knock down drag out debate, Hillary Clinton is our Secretary of State with approval of the majority of Black voters.  No Black Republican would dare to challenge the GOP on the issue of racial bias within the Republican Party. Cain rapidly stood down from criticizing the word on the Perry family ranch. Black Republicans know their place.

Cain followed a path that ignorance was okay that had been paved by George W Bush, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann and Michal Steele. Black Democrats do cringe because on most occasions Black republicans who appear on our television screens suffer from a true lack of intelligence. Cain plummeted in GOP polls because of lust. Stupidity was not a criteria for disqualification.

Black Republicans are trapped in a box with little room to object to actions taken by the hierarchy. Critical thinkers need not apply to the GOP.

Oh my head is buzzing from this comment rmrd.

I don't care what party Colin is in. He has earned the respect of all Americans.

He attempted to work some sanity into the Dept of State but w and rummy and dicky just sneered.

He made one big mistake at the UN but he admits it today. And his former chief of staff

is on MSNBC all the time and I really like that guy.

Biden made some real mistakes but over all Uncle Joe is a great man and that is how I feel about Colin.

Steele pisses me off from time to time; but HE KNOWS THE ISSUES; he has his hand on the facts;  He reads and writes and work at gathering info. He makes me scream at the telly, but he is not an idiot.

I worry about inserting my feelings on race in my rants.

I do know one thing for sure, regardless of race Herman could actually make Bachmann seem knowledgeable at times.

And that is no easy feat!

Cain allowed white Republicans to use his "brainwashing and "lynching" as cover for attacks on black voters. For years black Republicans have called said that black Democrats were trapped on a plantation. Black republicans used the attacks knowing how white Conservatives would interpret their words.

Steele was incompetent as RNC chair. Steele had financial issues and factual issue problems as RNC chair. Steele claimed that Obama started the war in Afghanistan. Steele was an idiot. His hip-hop style was offensive (see photo).

Democrats have had, and will continue to have internal conflicts about issues of race, sexual orientation and gender. We fight each other and then come together, that is the modern history of the Democratic Party.

The comment about Powell was an attack on Limbaugh and the GOP "think tank" that tried to usher Colin Powell out of the GOP. Powell was not the target of the criticism.

    I get it.

    My reply seemed accusatory.

    It was not.

I was just attempting to put the breaks on my own internal racism that is unconscious in intent...at least I hope it is unconscious.

I was watching a panel (last weekend?) on which Vernon Jordan appeared. I love that man. He is the type of speaker that makes me proud of America.

My real anger is aimed at repubs who deny the first decade of this new century; denial of the sins of the banks and mortgage institutions; denial of a war mongering executive power; denial of an economic system that favors the very very rich; denial of a political system caught up in bribery and extortion....

No, I never read you as being some irrational racist. ha

It is so easy to spot those bastards. hahahaha

    We are equally pissed.

I'm not normally into rants, but this one definitely connected. Nice whack, DD.

    Thanks Genghis!

    Picks me right up!

Be kind to your blood pressure and let go of American exceptionalism: there are plenty of embarrassing goofballs that run for higher office in lots of other countries, too. Look, we haven't elected a Berlusconi  yet (or Cicciolina for an even better example) though we have had a B actor president, assorted Sony Bono Michelle Bachman type congresspersons, etc. Hahaha.

Yeah I have cooled down and your short list is correct.

I was brought up with this hope in the fifties that the spread of information, free speech with some real publication, FOIA's....these tools would somehow insure that the truth be told.

We have more information available at our fingertips than ever before and the jackasses just keep on getting air time! ha

Just as an aside, Bachmann is really really really promising a round up of ten million people and Santorum backs her up in this crazy idea.

Why not start by making these 'illegals' all wear stars on their outer clothing?
