Jeremy Scahill’s new book and film Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield, is an investigation into the U.S. government’s covert wars which he suggests are drawing the nation deeper into conflict across the globe, setting the world stage for destabilization and blowback. The talk was followed by a conversation with Tom Engelhardt.
This event was part of Lannan's In Pursuit of Cultural Freedom series.

I am impressed by Jeremy Scahill based on what I know of his work and by my impression of him as a person. It is apparent that he, along with a strong team, will have the financial support to be a part of founding a news organization which will give a new and different perspective to our nation's policies and actions than we are used to seeing in the major media outlets.
In this highly recommended video interview I also relate very strongly to his closing statement. While the entire talk leads to that moment, it can be jumped to at the 32;25 mark of this high quality Vimeo presentation. His preceding talk is also on Vimeo at:

It is also recommended.
