Police in Miami Gardens, Florida have searched Earl Sampson 258 times in four years. He has been searched and arrested for loitering multiple times. Sampson works as a clerk in a local store. The police harassment continues despite Sampson being where he has a legal right to be. The police state is alive and well in the United States. Minorities are the canaries in the coal mine when it comes to government surveillance.
Florida is the "Stand Your Ground State" that makes privileged citizens capable of asking those without privilege to "show their papers" South African style. Any citizen can approach a darker hued citizen and demand that he prove that he or she "belongs" in a public place. The police are setting the tone for citizens to follow.
Police overreach leads to citizen intrusion on privacy and civil rights. The police state needs to be stopped in its tracks. The Florida legislature is working overtime to make sure that the portion of the citizenry being abused cannot "vote the bums out" by using voter suppression. The war on freedom is already here.

Simple solution in cases where corrupt cops harass a business owner. Payoffs for the cops. It works. The long term solution to drown all corruption in Florida is that global warming 33 meter sea level rise.

The latter solution may be the only one that works.

The problem is at the top and when the community gets rid of the commissioner, then all this will stop. We had this problem here about 10 years ago. The police commissioner then retired after being in office 20 years and a new one was elected. With in a year he stopped the harassment and cleaned up the gangs.
