This is a report from Bernie Sanders who is on the Budget Committee. It is 12 pages long with lots of charts and history. It is a must read because we are going to see a real messy fight on this before the end of the 2 years. I would also book mark it and pass it on to others. You will want to refer back too it when the dog fight starts.
On the very first day of the new Congress, House Republicans manufactured a crisis for SSDI by passing a rule that would prevent Congress from rebalancing funds between OASI and SSDI 12 through a point of order. This rule, which was approved by the House of Representatives, requires any rebalancing to improve the combined 75-year actuarial balance of both trust funds. Absent a deal, DI beneficiaries would face an immediate 20 percent cut in benefits, creating unnecessary anxiety and pain for vulnerable Americans.
This will cause a 19-20% cut in benefits to the disabled. This can lead to unnecessary suffering and even loss of life for these Americans. They don't get enough support as it is.
For several years now, some Republicans have looked for opportunities to undermine the Social Security program. Either by complaining that it is unsustainable, that it is too generous or as in the case now, that there isn’t enough money to go around between seniors and the disabled. This is patently untrue. In fact, Social Security has a $2.8 trillion surplus in its trust fund and can pay out all benefits to all beneficiaries for the next 18 years. This is the assessment of the Social Security Administration. There is no debate about it and any attempt to argue otherwise is simply an effort to mislead and confuse.
They have been trying to get rid of this program since 1935. They think they will be able to pit seniors against the disabled by stopping the reallocation and balancing of the trust fund. It looks like the Democratic members of Congress are not going to roll over on this. Sanders is going to lead the charge. He will make this a campaign issue for the 2016 election cycle.

I am angry. I have watched people lose their Meals on Wheels and then struggle to get their bi-monthly food basket. I wish all of you could have seen them yesterday manage to do this like I witnessed. Most of them only get about a $1000 a month if they are lucky. I even saw a person in a full halo frame. I could just see those a$$ hats in the think tanks making these plans and writing all the memos because they know this part of our society is too weak to organize and kick up a fuss. Then turn around a demand that the seniors take a cut to help out these poor souls.
The 1% don't need any more tax breaks. Remove the ceiling on the FICA tax. These people need better care. You would think we are living in a 3rd world country. Actually I do. I live in the Koch Colony of Florida.

Great link. Thanks. I just posted it to my facebook.
This just backs up what I pointed out. This are people who are not well. The Republican Party is now a Fascist Party. They see these people as being unworthy and useless, so they must be discarded like garbage.
They are also lying.
Yes lets put them in jail and drug test them first.

Here Momo . . .
Add this to you information.
There's a chart in my post in the Warren thread at TPM here that may help spread the word.

Thanks Ducky, I added it to face book.
The La Times also mentioned that the new cases in SSDI have dropped.

One of the reasons is that disabled baby boomers are now able to transfer to SSI and receive a larger amount based on retirement credits.

I guess it is necessary for Liberal Dems to appear clueless about how the sausage is produced and the Kabuki maintained in DC. The Repugs start the dance with a flame-thrower attack that no one expects to succeed and then the Dems respond, after apocalyptic pronouncements to the Faithful, with the cooling waters of compromise, then they work together to shaft the rubes.
The final product will reflect the 'necessary reforms' goal of Obama's Catfood Commission and Pete Peterson will smile as Obama's Grand Betrayal becomes the new reality.
