Can't raise a sober law abiding son but can run a country? Does the kid rob liquor stores too?
LEXINGTON, Ky., April 22 (UPI) -- William Paul, the 22-year-old son of 2016 presidential hopeful Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol Sunday. Police in Lexington said William was in the driver's seat of a 2006 Honda Ridgeline that struck the back of a parked vehicle.....He's had other run-ins with the law in the past, including an October 2013 citation for possession of alcohol by a minor and a January 2013 arrest for alleged simple assault of a flight attendant, consuming alcohol while underage, disorderly conduct, and being intoxicated and disruptive. He was arrested when his US Airways flight reached the gate at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

LOL...The kid is spoiled. JEB's kids couldn't stay out of trouble either. One of them holds office now in Texas.

Possibly spoiled.
A lot of these families also have no communication with their kids, they don't even go in their rooms. They don't discuss problems and concerns, choice of friends, issues at school. Don't ask the kid ever how they are doing, what goals they have, what frustrations they face, some parents know little or nothing about the lives of kids that live in their house.
Sarah Palin and Jeb come to mind. Jeb didn't even know his wife committed a crime when she tried to sneak $40 grand of clothes into the US from France, and he didn't even show up in court when his daughter faced prison sentencing for drug abuse.
The bottom line is if they can't resolve, or possibly even care, about and 'run' their own family, they are hardly going to care about yours, or be effective in running the nation.

The family members never face the harsh sentencing that most people face when doing similar crimes and get caught.

There was some law in Minnesota enacted in the Nineties.
Yeah and some person precious to me was arrested under this new law.
Anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 with any alcohol in their blood or breath would be convicted of DUI.
It was a strange law.
Most folks have alcohol in their system even if they never drink!
I had a lawyer friend who took over the case,
He just fell down, the bastard.
The charge just went away at a later date.
I bring this up because we should not give a damn what the children of some candidate might do.

Dick about this...
Yup! But I'm sure they'll be framing that in the ol' Biblical babble of...

OGD - God has already forgiven Rand for any failings of his as the conceited self centered parent of a very troubled youth. He Forgives all Republicans and they know He always will.....
And if Obama girls were 22 years ofd and had been arrested numerous times and driven drunk into parked cars and been kicked off airliners the GOP would......quote the Bible? Pray for them?

Yeah but if a guy like Rand can't send a kid off into the world, age 22, without having him assault airline hostesses, get arrested over and over, and have numerous instances of alcoholism at that tender age, you have to wonder what kind of a father he is, how self indulgent and self centered he is, how ignorant or uncaring of the problems and mental state of his own family he may have been, and if he can't straighten ot his own young adult son, how is he going to handle much bigger problems and personalities as President?
I wouldn't even let my kid get close to Rand or in his home, for fear of drugs, loaded guns lying around etc the stuff frankly typical of Republican families I have known. And I sure as hell wouldn't want this Rand running the country.

In light of your comment on another thread I decided to do something I rarely do. Maybe I should do it more.
When I read through this thread yesterday your comment was the only one I thought made any sense. I 100% agree with you. I didn't see any reason to comment on a thread about some politician's kid since you already said everything that needed to be said.
I see that PP is taking a similar tack down below.

"Simple assault of a flight attendant" in post-9/11 days probably means talking back to the attendant, perhaps using a curse word.
"Possession of alcohol by a minor" - at 20 years old!!! Christ, I was drinking at 13, finished college at 20. Would have had a couple DUIs except for nice cops in a college town.
I suggest we get a life or some sense of proportion to our outrage (didn't we just have a thread talking about the good old days when we survived - or some didn't - all kinds of crazy shit not allowed today? At least Rand Jr. isn't stuck behind a mobile phone clicking away - he's out drinking like real men used to do - go re-watch The Thin Man if you haven't seen it lately).
Digby addresses 2 sides of journalist malpractice here and here (the 2nd being how internet rumor mill turns into "stories" or "investigative journalism").
