Let the speculation as to who will be the next Speaker of the House begin ...

You beat me to it. It came over the radio on my way home from the food pantry. I don't think the House had any idea. Here is another article on it.

The GOP is in a real mess. He was going to retire in 2014 this article said but Cantor was defeated so he didn't. He doesn't want a prolong fight over the speakership. At least we don't have to put up with all the Trump news. We can be entertained by the House having a food fight.

Since leading the GOP House is like herding a mob of scalded rabid cats one wonders what this holds in store for the nation.
We may get the full measure of insane ideology of the Tea Party depending on which of the Party of No takes his place.

I'm wondering about that shutdown. Politico says there will certainly be no shutdown now because Boehner has nothing to lose by relying on Dem votes. But I wonder. It seems to me that the right-wingers also have nothing to lose by prematurely deposing the Speaker before the CR vote.

I doubt even the nutjobs of the GOP would want to be (1) voting out Boehner who is leaving anyway in a month (2) haggling over who would replace him 24/7 x X days/weeks and (3) blathering like anarchists on all the above all while the government goes into shutdown.

Many people have been wondering about the shut down. The food pantry was packed this morning. There was many new clients and I am sure that the threat of a shut down brought them in.
Well lets hope the Speaker pushes through a spending bill.
