The family of the inventor of the AR-15 said in a joint statement that the AR-15, the weapon used at Sandy Hook and Orlando, was never intended for civilian use. The weapon was a counter to the AK-47. The inventor was an avid hunter, but never used the AR-15 to hunt. The inventor never personally owned an AR-5

According to the NRA and the gun corporations who make this and knock offs, the inventor is leaving himself defenseless in his own home.
The WW2 M1 Garrand, had only an 8 round clip, and was used to stop Banzai charges.
Capacity to blow off 30, 50 or 100 bullets in 30 seconds is not needed to 'be safe'.
It is all a marketing, fear provoking and gun fetish ploy of, by and for the dollar and for the votes. For the gun industry and the Republican Party.

The fear is so over blown but some people buy into it. I've always owned guns but even when I lived in a poor neighborhood in FL I never kept them loaded and ready to use. Since I wasn't hunting when I lived in FL I kept my guns unloaded and stored deep in the back of my closet. I didn't even have any bullets. I never had an occasion that I needed a gun for protection. Now that I'm hunting regularly again they are more accessable but I still don't keep them loaded even though I live alone. Fear is the mind killer
