In the Daily Beast, Matt Jones argues that abortion keeps Republicans and Evangelicals in Roy Moore’s corner. Lewis argues that Democrats have to take “reasonable” stances on abortion to win over Roy Moore supporters. Doug Jonessays that the woman should be the final decided on when a woman gets an abortion. Matt Lewis wants clearly defined restrictions. The problem is that Roy Moore supporters want very limited to no access for abortion.
Republicans have used abortion as a club to pound Democrats for lacking a moral code. The Republican abortion stance allows them to feel superior despite politicians who race-bait, are misogynists, and collude with Russians. All voters vote their values. Voters in Alabama will vote for a politician who will take away their healthcare and raise their taxes as long as that politician is anti- abortion. A voter in NYC will vote for a polituwho will raise their taxes if the politician is willing to push for healthcare for the poor, better schools, etc. Liberals and Progressives vote according to their moral code.
i do not accept Republican anti-abortion platforms as morally superior to my vote in favor of the poor and the middle class. If you can ca a vote for a liar and a pedophile in the name of being anti-abortion, you are not morally superior.
Evangelicals are willing to punish women for having abortions, the vote to starve and imprison these children after they are born. They will support executions. They are not morally superior.
