    CONSPIRACY THEORIES

President-Elect Barack Obama feared the new administration would face a coup if it prosecuted Bush-era war crimes, according to a new report out this morning.

Christopher Edley Jr., law dean at the University of California and a high-ranking member of the Obama transition team, made the revelation during a 9/11 forum at his law school on September 2. Andrew Kreig, director of the D.C.-based Justice Integrity Project, reports that Edley’s comments were in response to questions from Susan Harman, a long-time California peace advocate.

I am not that happy with conspiracy theories..

I mean I have read conspiratorial crap my entire life.

We did land on the moon—in my humble opinion. Six times!

And I do believe that our astronauts saw unidentified flying objects over the next three decades and continuing.

Kennedy was shot dead in November of 1963 and that is all that matters to me.

Lyndon lied about the Gulf of Ton-kin most probably, and we never should have become engaged in Vietnam. In my humble opinion; but without Lyndon, I believe we never would have seen the important Civil Rights legislation of '64 and '65.

Which is why '68 ended up in a real tragedy. An unaccountable war that killed almost 60,000 of my generation for no goddamn reason.

When we speak of conspiracies we are speaking (at least in my mind) of a concerted effort of powerful people to lie and cheat and steal their way to some aim that would not be approved of by the peasants.

It is a broad definition and one incapable of absolute proof (which never exists) since we never are able to read the entire file.

In our statutes, in our case-law opinions, and in our Executive Orders the word reasonable appears all the time.

    Reasonable is incapable of definition.

A jury is supposed to decide if a murderer used reasonable force.

A jury is supposed to decide if a physician used reasonable efforts in order to resuscitate a sick patient.

A jury is supposed to decide if a corporation acted reasonably.

A jury is supposed to decide if a corporate laison acted reasonably.

Whenever you see the word reasonable in any legislative act or judicial opinion beware. What is reasonable to some is not reasonable to others.

And always, always, always remember that you have never read the entire file!

Now with all this in mind, let us think about the article I linked above. And I refer also to other links within the article to other articles.

It is ONE hell of an article.

First, every time some repub says that we should only do what the generals tell us to do is treachery.

The repubs who keep speaking of generals ruling this country, every time repubs speak of generals making decisions as to where and when we go to war, every time repubs speak of generals deciding where and when we shall decide what battlefields we shall retreat from and what battlefields we shall keep on keeping on; those repubs are traitors to every goddamn thing this nation ever meant as far as I am CONCERNED.

    THESE REPUBS ARE TRAITORS.

They are traitors to any idea of democracy.

They are traitors to any idea of civilian control of the military.

They are traitors to the United States Constitution!

McCain is a goddamn traitor to this nation and its principles as sure as Lindsey Graham (the gay quarter of the neo cons) and Lieberman (the dem in repub clothing quarter of the neo cons) are traitors to every single tenet of this country. (in that our Constitution specifies that the freely elected members of our legislative branch and executive branch shall control our military.)

I recently (and several times before) reviewed Seven_Days_in_May

And this article from Firedoglake reminded me of another incident badly reported almost 80 years ago.

The reason I harken back to 80 years ago, is that I felt most uncomfortable reading this most recent link.

I mean elements of the reports reminded me of some inconsistencies relating to President Obama's campaign for the presidency.

Greenwald makes his livelihood by pointing out the inconsistencies of the campaign promises made in '08 and the actions of the present Executive Branch of Government.

We are finally leaving Iraq. Two years late as far as I am concerned.

But Lindsey would keep us there forever.

McCain will claim the end of the American Empire (so what?)

That asshole from Iowa who eats too much grass but refuses to smoke it tells us that we should have entered Libya a month earlier (why, I cannot figure out).

I really feel that the contention that Obama was and is being controlled by the Pentagon is real.

I can feel it, I can touch it, I can hear it, I can see it, I can smell it—and my dick becomes sore over it.

I really feel that the contention that Obama was and is being controlled by Wall Street is real.

I can feel it, I can touch it, I can hear it, I can see it, I can smell it—and my dick becomes sore over it.

This was not an issue of a one term presidency.

This was an issue of a real presidency at all.

I think threats were made and money put in place and arms put in place and our propaganda mechanisms put in place to thwart an attack upon the most miserable, most evil, most powerful conspirators this nation has ever seen.

The conspirators knew it was coming.

They knew the repubs would be shellacked in '08 as they had been in '06.

They knew that Wall Street and the Pentagon were so hated in this nation that something must be done to stem the tide.

If true reformers had been put in place to really ream WALL STREET and the PENTAGON a new one, the people who control this country could find themselves decimated.

So our new President told us we must look forward and not backward.

Our new Attorney General would tell us that he had no intention of punishing the evil doers who almost destroyed our economy whilst making billions in bonuses.

Our new Pinata would not allow real changes to the Pentagon that the world's worst evil doer (Rummy) had installed therein.

I could go on and on but there is no other reasonable explanation for the actions taken by President Obama over the last three years.

Now we are going to be out of Iraq in one or two months.

I think our President was playing chess.

He took the end times written in Jello by the previous fascist president and turned it against the generals. He had to or we would remain in that country for decades more IF he had not remained steadfast in his principles.

Our President in fact took out our Hessian forces as a direct result of this chess game; if the private US (read international corporation pricks) had been given immunity from the Iraqi's we could have seen hundreds of thousands of quasi-American troops in that country for the rest of this new century.)

Why do I believe this conspiracy exists?

The election of Roosevelt was upsetting for many conservative businessmen of the time, his "campaign promise that the government would provide jobs for all the unemployed had the perverse effect of creating a new wave of unemployment by businessmen frightened by fears of socialism and reckless government spending."[11]

The Hoover administration had steadfastly defended the gold standard even when Britain abandoned it in September 1931. With a devalued currency British manufactured goods became cheaper than American counterparts, resulting in more economic hardship for American industry. Roosevelt's campaign had promised to re-evaluate America's commitment to the gold standard, and through a series of actions from March 6 to April 18, 1933 abandoned it.

Conservative businessmen and other supporters of the gold standard were dismayed. Hoover who had championed the standard wrote that its abandonment was the first step toward "communism, fascism, socialism, statism, planned economy."[11] He argued that the standard was needed to stop governments from "confiscating the savings of the people by manipulation of inflation and deflation....We have gold because we cannot trust Governments."[11]

Roosevelt also dissolved any "gold clause" within contracts public or private that guaranteed payment in gold. This clause was part of every government bond and most corporate bonds, "It was a standard feature of mortgage agreements and other contracts. For creditors, it offered protection against inflation or congressional tinkering with the currency." For debtors though it was dangerous as "The gold dollar, before Roosevelt reduced it, was $1.69. This meant that a bank, for example, could suddenly require a farmer to make mortgage payments in gold coin-transferring a $10,000 mortgage into one worth $16,900, raising the farmer's debt burden by nearly 70 percent."[12] Likewise the U.S treasury could be required to pay the bearer of a $10,000 Liberty Bond $16,900 in gold coins.[12] (The constitutionality of this Roosevelt policy was later challenged before the Supreme Court in the Gold Clause Cases.)

With the end of the gold standard "conservative financiers were horrified. They viewed a currency not solidly backed by gold as inflationary, undermining both private and business fortunes and leading to national bankruptcy. Roosevelt was damned as a socialist or Communist out to destroy private enterprise by sapping the gold backing of wealth in order to subsidize the poor."...

The BBC's online précis for its documentary program The White House Coup, said "The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D. Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans."[22] In that documentary, author and conspiracy theorist[52] John Buchanan said, "The investigations mysteriously turned to vapor when it comes time to call them to testify. FDR's main interest was getting the New Deal passed, and so he struck a deal in which it was agreed that the plotters would walk free if Wall Street would back off of their opposition to the New Deal and let FDR do what he wanted".[22] The program connected major companies to the American Liberty League, formed by Al Smith, who, the program asserted, was to be the fascist ruler.[

Document uncovers details of a planned coup in the USA in 1933 by right-wing American businessmen
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/document_20070723.shtml

The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression.

I would only ask that President Obama repeat the message of FDR so long ago.

So I support the hoards who have no unified constitution to continue to protest.

"...it is an article of faith that there are no conspiracies in American life."

Gore Vidal in The Enemy Within.

I can hardly believe I received a comment.

Vidal, there is only one Vidal.

    The article of faith.

I just viewed five more docs that included Noam.

Noam appears passive aggresive but in his last years he makes more sense to me.

It is not that America is soooooooooo very bad.

It is that America is like any world empire; and therefore has to be bad.

We are not that very different from any other empire.

Pat Buchanan knows this and says it aloud.

    The rest just pretend.
