CHICAGO (Reuters) - Ohio lawmakers Wednesday passed a bill allowing gun owners in the state to carry concealed weapons into bars and other establishments where alcohol is served.
...Opponents said mixing guns and alcohol would endanger public safety
Oh really. Mixing alcohol with guns might be dangerous. Who'd a thunk?
What a great idea mixing alcohol with guns!
It is such a good idea, Virginia got into the act.
Arizona and Wyoming lawmakers are considering nearly a half dozen pro-gun measures, including one that would allow residents to carry concealed weapons without a permit. And lawmakers in Montana and Tennessee passed measures last year — the first of their kind — to exempt their states from federal regulation of firearms and ammunition that are made, sold and used in state. Similar bills have been proposed in at least three other states.
Wisconsin wishes to get into the game.
Minnesota is trying its best.
Arizona almost does away with permits of any kind.
Oh, and for a nice review of Federal Laws do not feel degraded to review wiki's contributions to the subject!
Now just focussing on Ohio for a second, one might infer that gun laws are not an easy subject, even for repub legislators or capitalists that own those legislators.
Ohio's law will let you go into a bar with a concealed weapon; it is just against the law for you to enter the establishment in an intoxicated condition. Oh, and you cannot order a drink. Ahhhhahahahahahah
Just by the wayside here, the human condition and not liberals is the reason for all our regulatory legislation.
Ford found a way to not only manufacture automobiles but to pay his workers enough to purchase one of those contraptions.
And following a ten hour day of putting cars together on a Friday, those workers might hit a drinking establishment prior to going home in order to let off a little steam. A lot of steam in those old manufacturing plants!
So naturally, these folks at the turn of the last century ran into a little trouble as they say. That is they had their fill of brew, got into their cars and drove them into trees and street lights and other people.
So states had to deal with this new problem created by our new technology.
And you might recall that George w. was lucky in that he hit the tree rather than a person. ha
Minnesota currently arrests and convicts approximately 33,000 folks who are found to be legally drunk while driving their horseless carriages!
People die as a result of drunk driving.
Now we have problems resulting from our contstiutional protections of course. I mean you cannot operate your pc or your ipod or your phone without the Feds cutting in from time to time!
I mean, just saunter down to our local mainstreet (the old mainstreet that is dying, that is dying all over this frickin country) and on any week end night, you will find drunks outside their favorite bar, smoking with a beer in their hands and ready to get into their cars within an hour or so in order to get to their abode somewhere within the next twenty miles.
The cops, who are stationed one block from this celebratory area, are supposedly forbidden from sitting somewhere on mainstreeet with their computers and such; and arresting everyone who comes out of a bar and into their car—at least the driver side. Hahahahah
So they don't.
Anyway, back to the main point!
WHY WOULD ANYONE DRIVE TO A BAR WITH A CONCEALED WEAPON AND PURCHASE A NONALCOHOLIC DRINK FOR FIVE BUCKS?
I don't get it.
Why do people visit bars?
I mean there are excuses.
People go to bars to get high and get rid of their sexual inhibitions laugh with their friends.
So lets all go out and get high, and get rid of our sexual inhibitions and laugh with our friends—just so that we are protected with a 357 Magnum—just in case.
Are these people nuts?
I forgot the link, but some state is allowing concealed weapons as long as they are not loaded. Hahahaha
That is like finding a less than stellar woman for bedtime without Viagra. Don't yell at me I heard this epiphany on Rush. Hahahahah
This huge issue reached its zenith with the recent Supreme Court decisions.
When the United States Supreme Court farts, the odor is smelled around the world!
You know the right wished to impeach Earl Warren because he believed in Equal Rights.
Well I say: IMPEACH CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS AND JUSTICE ALITO AND JUSTICE SCALIA AND JUSTICE THOMAS TOMORROW!
I already alluded to the Federal Statutes at Wiki and such.
Here is an example of a moron who had a question concerning his right to purchase tomatoes while holding an M16:
Does any one know if grocery stores in Ohio with liquor licenses are "class D" licenses or not?
The only info I can find from the state says
"Premises that dispense liquor. Concealed firearms are also banned
in a room or arena in which liquor is dispensed for which a class D
permit has been issued. A class D permit is generally issued to an
establishment that sells alcohol for consumption on the premises. Be
certain of the type of permit and whether liquor is being dispensed
before you enter with a concealed handgun." (emphasis mine)
I asked a local store owner about why he posted a no fire arms sign and he was not even aware that it had been posted. He assumed that his manager posted it because it was sent with their liquor license.
He personally said "You're welcome to carry in my store" but I want to make sure that he is not mandated by ATF to post. His is the only grocery store in the area posted. (all sell beer and wine, most sell liquor)
We had a rather long conversation about the pros and cons of CCW.
He is pro 2nd amendment and believes that crime rates decrease when private citizens are armed.
To sum up, most of these laws permit the capitalist to ban guns in his/her establishment.
I recall strolling down the Main Street of Minneapolis or St. Paul and signs would be posted saying:
NO GUNS ALLOWED
What does that mean?
If I am a cop can I go into the establishment?
And what if my gun is not loaded—you know I left the Viagra in the car.
And who would discover that I had a concealed weapon?
I bet you that if you strolled into some Wall Street firm, there would be a huge sign and some contraption that made you feel you were entering an airport checking to see if you have a gun!
So if you decide that you would like to be erect, and manly, and ready for business and you decided to stroll down some down town biz district with your powerful gunpowder armed penis inside of your jacket coat; I would guess that you could not pick and choose which establishment you could enter.
And I guarantee, and you can take this to the bank, that every serious biz owner is going to have to install an scanner at his place of business. Ha
the end
Oh and check out these links. I mean how does a cop, off duty or on duty transport his firearm?

Archie Bunker had the solution to airplanes and guns 40 years ago. Everyone carries. Terrorist tries to hijack, everyone opens up on him. At 35,000 feet. The end of the terrorist as a giant sucking sound is heard, fire with your seat belt on. No airport security needed, deficit down.
'You carry into a bar because if you leave your gun in your car, it can be stolen' Arizona Republican State Rep. Ron Gould, First Freedom supporter and devoted gun packer.
I notice a concealed carry ad to the right of your post, dagblogers know their rights on this, they know guns are no more dangerous or different than swimming pools or motorcycles. Both can kill. Both are common.

THIS IS NUTS!
But what do I know? ha

A man walks into a bar. buys a beer, takes a sip, sets the beer back down, takes out his gun and shoots it, sending beer and glass flying across the room. The bartender grabs him and asks, "What the hell did you do that for?!" The customer replies, "That beer didn't agree with me."
And remember kiddies, "You can't be packin', if the chamber's lackin'..." (This has been a public service message from the American Bullet Company.)

I think all the people fighting to attend the Casey Anthony trial should bring their guns - and shoot each other.

Now there is an idea!
by Richard Day on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 12:25pm
I was just wondering ...
If it's legal to bring firearms to a bar, is it also okay to drink alcohol at a firing range?
by MrSmith1 on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 12:55pm
There ya go again Smith!
I doooooooooooo not understand this guns in bars phenomina at all. I mean I cannot figure out what these people are thinking.
But why do you need a 45 to buy tomatoes?
There are people, probably a million or so who believe half of our Civil Service employees are aliens--from another planet. But we never used to listen to these folks.
Now they get elected!
by Richard Day on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 1:07pm
You need the 45 when you go to the farmers market, and you see a suspicious fellow with dynamite strapped around his waste, and he appears to be readying to detonate.
RUN! everyman, woman and child for themselves, that man has a bomb......OR .... a hero steps forward and saves hundreds.
One split second between an arse or a hero?
by Resistance on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 3:09pm
Good point! A fool in the right circumstances can find himself the hero!
Of course a fool with a gun can find himself a murderer....
Oh I did not mean to hit the four year old, I was going for the criminal! ha

I understand where you’re coming from Richard,
I am just offering the other view, to the devils advocate. ha LOL
How did Rummy put it?
It happens?
When the Police went to this house they had no idea if children or hostages were in danger.
