Keith Olbermann Keith Olbermann - small.jpg

I just watched Olbermann resign. No repeats on MSNBC on Fridays.

    This is a bummer.

This guy single handedly took on w bush when no one would.

THIS IS THE END OF AN ERA.

Resigned DD?  I don't think so.  I think he got the ax.  I was watching too and I'm absolutely horrified.  Maddow is next.  It won't be long.  You watch.  Then Ed.  Pretty soon we'll have three Fox networks and the predator class will be doing all it can to convince us there never was a time when someone like Olbermann even existed.

I do not think so Oleeb. There is some k dispute here.

At least I hope you are not right.

    DD,

I have a relative who works for Turner Broadcasting out of New York and is very well connected in the media world generally speaking but particularly at MSNBC who reports unequivocally it was Comcast and had only this to say about it:  "We're doomed!"

Wolfie put it up, too.  I was watching but couldn't believe what he was saying.  He was so calm about it--and I read that he just found out this afternoon.

This is a big deal. Huffpo put up a paragraph after i did.

You know here is more to this story. I only hope we eventually find out the real details. From what I've read of him, Phil Griffin sounds like a pompous jerk.  If, however, it's Comcast the new owners, then it's time to circle the wagons and fight for the other Progressive hosts and/or band together and stop watching MSNBC entirely and let their rating plummet to zero.  Screw Comcast. Their buying NBC should never have been approved. And it wouldn't have been if we had a real FCC instead of the puppet commission we have now. I hope CNN cancels the Spitzer show and hires Olbermann. (Although with a standard no-compete contract, it probably won't be able to happen for at least 6 months.)  Damn this is upsetting.

I love the guy Smith. I really do.

And for those who think he is simply the left's O'Reilly, bullshit.

    Keith could read and write!

Yup. Me too. I couldn't agree more.

And notice that Obama just made the head of GE (MSNBC's owner) his chief financial advisor. Along with this Comcast thing, they just took over a huge chunk of power.

    This is stunning news, DD.

For those who missed it, Crooks and Liars has his final farewell (with transcript).

    I'm floored. Just floored.

I watched the whole thing Seashell.

    I was floored.

I started watching Keith O after my family had discovered he was on MSNBC. They were fans of his when he was on ESPN. I didn't think much of Mathews so I didn't watch MSNBC. CNN had dumped Judy Woodruff so I was starved for some good political news. I haven't watched CNN for a long time. I turn on MSNBC in the day time for a quick check of the news. This was all because of Keith. I saw it tonight and very sadden by it. I will probably not turn on MSNBC until 9pm for Maddow and Ed Shults.

This is a sad day in cable news for sure.

Like I said before, he was the ONLY VOICE for me anyway for almost 8 years.

Rachel and Ed and Lawrence will continue to do fine jobs telling us what is really going on.

Sorry, dude. I know you like him.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm totally bummed to lose Cenk Uygur as an independent broadcaster. I imagine going corporate will bring an end to the guy we used to know as The Young Turk - today was probably his last real broadcast.

Just let me respond as thus:

I have basic cable. Eight years ago I had no internet.

And I come across this guy throwing bunched up paper at the camera, and I wonder who in the frick is this?

And he and Matthews end up on the same telecast as w stands on this aircraft carrier after pretending he just went and dropped bombs on Iraq and it was all taken from the movie Independence Day, and Matthews is almost talking about electricity up his frickin leg and Keith says, wait just a goddamn second here Chris.

And Matthews, to this day is pissed about that moment. And Chris goes on and on about how he was lied to by w and cheney all the neocons.

And there was Keith. No one would believe him.

Keith was my voice for about 4 years.

At any rate, thanks for chiming in.

I can't believe it. I am not a conspiracy theorist, or at least I haven't been up until now...there are BAAAAAD things happening in this country. This is one of them...

    This is bad news Stilli.

    I am speechless!!

We are at war  a disagreement, and it appears they may have air supremacy. Not good for our America

Here's another take on his departure.  Interesting. . .
