    Obama's Resume

Longevity is not the be all and end all on a resume. You can have 10 years experience, where you learn and grow all 10 years, or you can have 1 year, 10 times, where you repeat the 1st year over and over, learning nothing.

I contend that Obama has the former.

People, the number one thing on his resume for CIC should be:

He BEAT the Clinton machine. A relative newcomer, virtually unknown, stepped in and BEAT the Clintons. I don't say that in a derogatory way. Think about it. It is an amazing accomplishment. He put together an organization that beat the very best of the best...the TOP of what the Democrats have to offer.

Did he do it by himself, this Jr. Senator? He absolutely did not. He put together a staff of brilliant, disciplined  people, a TEAM. Then, he lead them to victory.

If that is not a testament to his ability to lead this country, I don't know what it is. Every time someone questions his readiness to lead this country, the argument should be, "He led the team that beat the best political machine in the country in the primaries, He IS ready to lead this country."

That is NOT a slight to the Clintons...it acknowledges that they were the BEST, the VERY BEST, and he and his team figured out how to beat them.

He is smart, but not just book smart. He is street smart, as well...you don't come up outta Chicago politics w/o learning the ropes. He is a true leader in every sense of the word. He is already building a coalition that encompasses left wingers and long-time Republicans like me.

He is going to surround himself with the best and brightest to help him govern this country. I am betting my children's and grandchildren's futures on it.

I'm not suggesting that you relax, sit back, and everything will be okay. I am suggesting that you get engaged. Get away from the computer for a portion of the day and do something constructive. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Speak in front of your civic organizations. Work the phone banks. Put a yard sign up. Don't leave the house w/o wearing your Obama tee shirt or button. Put a bumper sticker on your car. Help register new voters. Make it your mission to convert a McCain voter.

But most importantly, support our Man. Have confidence in him. All the screaming in the world to attack, hit harder, do something different, is not going to change their game plan. Let them unfold that plan in their way, in their time. For God's sake...they BEAT the Clintons, they can beat McSame, McBush, McPOW, McGiggolo, whatever you want to call him.

All you people who are either wringing your hands, or are stubbornly clinging to what might have been, are wasting your energy, spitting into the wind. He his our candidate. You'll have plenty of time to say I Told You So, if I'm wrong.

This is going to be a nail biter. The country is polarized, split nearly down the middle. Some Democrats have their noses out of joint and may vote for the opposition (hacking their noses off to spite their faces) some Republicans are so repulsed by their party, they are siding w/ Obama (me included). The expentancy of a 15 point lead is wishful thinking in today's climate. And if you think Hillary would fare any better, I disagree. The Rovians had a whole arsenal of vicious attacks ready for her which would have been JUST as damaging.

I, for one, want to be able to say at the end of this process that I did everything I could to get Obama elected. In the midst of the nuclear war that President McCain may well get us into, I want to be able to tell my grandchildren that I did everything I could to stop it. In the middle of the depression he may well cause and they are hungry, I want to be able to tell them I tried to keep it from happening.

So are you going to help McCain with all this whining and sniveling? Are you going to give him fresh talking points day after day? Are you going to continue to demoralize the troops that ARE out there fighting for him by carping at everything they do?

Or are you going to get off your butts and HELP US WIN?
God help us if you don't. Either way, we are going to get the President we deserve. I hope you chose wisely.
