Compassion:  (from Latin: "co-suffering") is a virtue --one in which the emotional capacities of empathy and sympathy (for the suffering of others) are regarded as a cornerstone of greater social interconnectedness and humanism --equivalent to the highest principles in philosophy, society, and personhood  (Wiki)

Compassion is defined not by how many people are on the government dole but by how many people no longer need government assistance." - rushlimbaugh

It's all right Ma, I'm just not feedin'.

    THE RANT:

You know, one of the benefits of school being out, in addition to your kids losing weight because they're starving to death out there because there's no school meal being provided, one of the benefits of school being out, college campi being vacant this time of year, is that our audience levels go up. I think, you know what we're going to do here, we're going to start a feature on this program: "Where to find food." For young demographics, where to find food. Now that school is out, where to find food. We can have a daily feature on this. And this will take us all the way through the summer. Where to find food. And, of course, the first will be: "Try your house." It's a thing called the refrigerator. You probably already know about it. Try looking there. There are also things in what's called the kitchen of your house called cupboards. And in those cupboards, most likely you're going to find Ding-Dongs, Twinkies, Lays ridgy potato chips, all kinds of dips and maybe a can of corn that you don't want, but it will be there. If that doesn't work, try a Happy Meal at McDonald's. You know where McDonald's is. There's the Dollar Menu at McDonald's and if they don't have Chicken McNuggets, dial 911 and ask for Obama.  http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201006160041

And what was my immediate reaction to all this?

    Matthew 25:40

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Rush, as usual, had further opinions concerning this issue of hunger for the under aged in this country:

There's another place if none of these options work to find food; there's always the neighborhood dumpster. Now, you might find competition with homeless people there, but there are videos that have been produced to show you how to healthfully dine and how to dumpster dive and survive until school kicks back up in August. Can you imagine the benefit we would provide people?  http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201006160041

Where exactly do people like Rush go when they die Mumsy?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxr-fbtV1-8

Nearly 14 million children are served by the Feeding America network of food banks (maybe those kids just like to hang out at food banks for the atmosphere?). The USDA estimates that 16.7 million children live in food insecure households, and 2.3 million households are more than a mile away from a supermarket and do not have access to a vehicle

I know what most of you are thinking out there, leave Rush alone.  I mean when he is not on vacation or waiting for the bail-bondsman, Rush is talking 3 hours a day, five days a week since sometime in 1987 when the fairness doctrine was erased from human consciousness.

I mean talking on the air 1200-1500 hours a year for 23 years and sometimes a guy just slips up. That is 27,600 hours of live radio commentary and does not even include the time he spent on ESPN. I MEAN NOBODY IS PERFECT!!!

For chrissakes, leave the poor guy alone you say!!!

But I recall that only 5 months ago, Rush had this to say about Haitian relief efforts:

Warning that the crisis in Haiti will "play right into Obama's hands," conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh politicized the nationwide humanitarian efforts being made by Americans of all stripes on the heels of a near-unimaginable disaster.

Positing that race relations are a driving factor behind the Obama Administration's support for the stricken Haitians, Limbaugh said, " . . . they'll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community, both the light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country . . . it's made to order for them."

"Besides, we've already donated to Haiti," Limbaugh said later in the program to a caller. "It's called the U.S. income tax.

Which is all well and good and logical and all. I mean Obama has shown time and time again he only wishes to give U. S. Aid to Negroish countries.

I mean how much aid has our country sent to the Netherlands?

A month prior to this Haitian comment, Rush had this to say about health care and the poor:

Limbaugh unbelievably argued that poor people should have no more right to quality healthcare than they have to purchase "a house on the beach", arguing instead that they should have healthcare equivalent to the "bungalow" they would be able to afford

I wondered about the cite Thepeoplechoose gave me that I alluded to yesterday and found this:

Different people prioritize different values over others, of course. And of course, different individuals and different cultures come to different conclusions about the right ethical choice in any particular situation: based on our cultural biases, as well as on our own personal observations and experiences. But according to this research, these basic values -- fairness, harm, loyalty, authority and purity -- exist in all of us, at least to some degree, in every non-sociopathic   human being.

The phrase 'non-sociopathic human being' kind of stuck me in the eye so to speak.

Now there have always been myths about the werewolves:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MRu8N2K0NY

And of course who could forget Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?

These monsters are really monsters less than half the time.  That is, at least most of the time, like when there is no full moon or when there have been no magic elixirs to be had, the victim/perpetrator is a regular guy so to speak!!!

But this is different from your common, everyday sociopath:

      Glibness and Superficial Charm

      Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

      Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

      Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

      Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

Now sociopaths are routinely held for anywhere between 3 and 14 days upon the filing of a certificate by an authorized psychiatrist.  http://www.disabilityrightsca.org/pubs/502401.pdf

Anybody know a good psychiatrist; preferably one who resides in Florida?
