All these folks on the webs have ideas for the State of the Union Address tonight.
I had so much fun two years ago during the election year with debates and such that I thought, what the hell.
How bored are you?
But what if some right winger screams from the bleachers?
http://www.salon.com/2014/01/28/willie_robertson_of_duck_dynasty_will_attend_the_state_of_the_union/
And what about the ding nuts who are going to RESPOND?
There are three 'official' responses, one official response from the GOP!
Anyway, we have less than an hour to go.
Of course we have the pundits all punditing; like they have all the live long day!
Those in the Central Time Zone and the Eastern Time Zone will probably have already eaten their dinners.
So grab some popcorn and a beer or cake and ice cream? and join my attempt at meaningless or meaning? whilst our Leader instructs us regarding the coming election year!

ALL RIGHTY THEN!
This is going to be more exciting than Civic's class right after lunch in the seventh grade.

by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 9:49pm
Richard, there was some trouble with the site for a few hours today. That's probably why you had a problem, too.
by Ramona on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:04pm

by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 9:52pm
I had to laugh at MYRA, too. He stumbled over it, as if he wasn't sure how to pronounce it. But seeing it in writing here, my first thought was "Breckenridge".
by Ramona on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 9:54pm
Oh my goodness. Somebody is following along.
Thank you Ramona.
by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 9:56pm

Individual dreams and America as a Family!
by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 9:58pm
My daughter finally signed up for health insurance last week. She is low income so she got help via a subsidy. She pays just under $15 a month and gets excellent coverage. Without the subsidy it would be around $225 a month. Even that isn't scary.
Honestly, why isn't everyone signed up by now?
by wabby on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:04pm
Good, that is a gooooood story.
I shall come back to this.
by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:06pm
Hi Flower, love to hear those good news stories about ACA. I'm sure there are some who won't benefit as much, but overall it's a start. It'll get better as long as enough people support it and use it.
by Ramona on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:16pm
Yeah, but.... when is he gonna talk about Justin Beiber? That's what America really wants to hear about!
by wabby on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:00pm
I noticed he didn't acknowledge the Duck Dynasty guy, either. Hell to pay tomorrow. . .

In the olden days we negotiated with the commies.

Permanent war footing.
Repub clap again up for discussion.
by Richard Day on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:28pm
So did I, but I would have liked to have heard a little more honesty about what's not working yet. A positive spin only works for so long and then we have to hear some harsh truths about our failures. Because they're still there.
by Ramona on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:25pm
I know Ramona.
Just like GTMO.
But we are talking about closing it down, AGAIN.

Anyway, the dems are keeping people sick, sore and disabled and the Prez is just hurting everybody all the time and he should bathe more often and....
OH WHO CARES?
BULLSHITE!

Richard, I like your style. Thanks again. Good night.
by Ramona on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 10:58pm
I wanted to tell you, I checked to see if there was a live thread here but didn't find one and went on to Kos to follow. I would have rather followed here. I did watch it twice because I had a diary go up on Kos that was a back up for a daily group after midnight so I ended hosting it for a while. The weather has been a factor here in the deep south and some one that was scheduled was not able to post.
I enjoy great oratory. I even liked the speech better the second time. I like a speech that build up to being on fire. There was parts that our president was really on fire. I think the Mad Men comment is going to be around for a long time.
He was really kicking off the 2014 election cycle. I think he learned his lesson in 2010 and will give campaign like speeches all this year. He needs and wants a better congress. Women are going to be key this cycle. Also I am glad that he brought up voter suppression. The financial barriers set me back this month a pretty penny to get a driver license. It is hard when you have a limited income to meet all the BS they want.
I watched the response the republicans made. All I could see was that flag in that triangle frame, that had to of been from a funeral. I kept wondering where it was from or was it just a prop. She didn't say anything that stuck with me so my mind wandered all through it.
I liked Chris Hayes statements the best last night. He really is talented. I try to watch him everyday. You could tell he was really inspired and excited after the speech. That tells me many young people who watched had to have been effected by the speech.
Like you always say, that is all I got.
by trkingmomoe on Wed, 01/29/2014 - 1:54pm
Oh one more thing. The Speaker of the House looked like he was "eleven sheets into the wind." I kept waiting for him to pass out. What a sad guy, in the real world he would of been fired for being drunk. I think the VP looked like he was enjoying the speech and likes his job. He is for the most part a happy man. I am sure he would of propped the Speaker back up. I think he nudged him once or twice.
by trkingmomoe on Wed, 01/29/2014 - 2:03pm
Oh I just found this comment, momoe.
As Ramona noted, I did not get this blog out on time, as it were.
For five hours, I could not get to the link and then, I posted and there was a further forty minute delay?
Anyway, as to Boner.
Yeah, he was most probably 3 sheets to the wind as they say. hahahahah
I kind of like the guy, I think our Prez and his VP kind of like the guy. hahahahah
If I had to deal with the pricks that control the GOP, I might need a few boilermakers. hahahaha
I will tell you this.
Boner has some health issues involving his skin if not his lungs. (recall that I suffer from cig addiction for over fifty years)
We do find ourselves with a new ten year plan regarding agriculture that will certainly erase my silly $15.00 allowance with regard to food stamps.
That fifteen bucks should have gone to single mothers or grandmas or dads with kids.
We have or live in a democracy so to speak.
The monied class keeps on attempting to close the polls for the poorest among us.
Anyway, Uncle Joe just LOVES HIS JOB.
Boner hates his life.
My Prez really really likes his life and he loves his presidency and following his second election; President Obama is happy to serve!
I still love this country. hahahahah. I cannot help it. How in the hell Barack Hussein Obama ever got elected twice in this new century will always confound me.
There must be something special about this nation.
I am confounded.
I went on and on much too long.
THE END
by Richard Day on Wed, 01/29/2014 - 11:13pm
I just wanted to let you know I did look.
I am optimistic about 2014.
The over reach of the GOP is great even in the south. It is the things like having to tell some young clerk about your life and have all the wedding and divorce documents scanned into the DMV records when men are not required to do that. Or the mess that is in Ga and Al. because the politicians didn't want to have everyone fussing at them if they closed the schools down and waited too late. That was very painful for families. It does chip away at the voter support with who is in charge.
The President and Vice-president seemed relaxed and happy at the State of the Union Address. That is a good sign.
