You know, Texas is a little different — you go where it’s comfortable,” Reed said. “. . . It would have been one thing if they had named it, but they didn’t. So, it’s basically a figure of speech as far as most people are concerned. No one thought anything about it.
They say don't go on Ni**erhead Mountain
If you're lookin' for a life
'Cause James Rick Perry has a big ole rock there
That he protects with a gun and a knife
His tender lips (his tender lips) are sweeter than honey
And Ni**erhead Mountain protects him there
The bears and the birds tell James Rick Perry
If a Ni**er should enter there
My dreams were lost on Ni**erhead MountainAnd I do fear for my life
The repubs can't wait to climb that mountain
And begin all that underhanded strife
His tender lips (his tender lips) are sweeter than honey
And Ni**erton Mountain protects him there
I'm going up on Ni**erhead Mountain
It's too loathsome down here below
It's just not right to hide his laughter
From the justice I love so
The bears and the birds tell James Rick Perry
If a Ni**gger should enter there
I don't care about James Rick Perry
I'm goin up on Ni**head Mountain
Her tender lips are sweeter than honey
And Wolverton Mountain protects her there
The bears and the birds tell James Rick Perry
If a ni**er should wander there
I don't care about James Rick Perry
I'm gonna climb up on his mountain
I'm gonna break the rock I hate
I don't care about James Rick Perry
I'm gonna climb up on his mountain
I'm gonna break the rock I hate
You gotta read the Washington Post Article. Five pages of real gems, one after another.
Let me just pick out a few of those gems:
He grew up in a segregated era......
Another local relates:.
I thought, ‘This is going to embarrass Rick some day,’ ” said this person, who did not want to be named, fearing negative consequences from speaking on the subject (Page 2)...
It turns out that his 'hunting lodge or camp' was managed by Hendrick Home for Children Trust. ..
I LOVE TEXAS. I mean we come to a camp that is clearly racist for rich White people and the money comes from some children's trust. What the fuck is this?
Mae Lou Yeldell, who is black and has lived in Haskell County for 70 years, recalled a gas station refusing to sell her father fuel when he drove the family through Throckmorton in the 1950s. She said it was not uncommon in the 1950s and ’60s for whites to greet blacks with, “Morning, nigger!”...(p.3)
Then we learn that racial attitudes have shifted slowly?
One asshole from them parts actually says:
Blacks were perfectly happy with what was going on....
And as to the actual name of the mountain and the hunting lodge and the children's trust being Ni**erhead?
“It’s just a name,” said Haskell County Judge David Davis, sitting in his courtroom and looking at a window. “Like those are vertical blinds. It’s just what it was called. There was no significance other than as a hunting deal ….
Hunters and visitors and white Texans would just recall that:
The cowboys, when they were gathering cattle, they’d say they’re going to the Matthews or Niggerhead or the Nail” ...p-5
To sum up, the biggest State in the Union next to Alaska is a little different!
“You know, Texas is a little different — you go where it’s comfortable,” Reed said. “. . . It would have
been one thing if they had named it, but they didn’t. So, it’s basically a figure of speech as far as most people are concerned. No one thought anything about it.”
Comments
Hey, they could have called it Punk Ass Chickenshit Honky MoFo Bluff. That's just a name. But they didn't. They did have white only gasoline pumps, and black only gasoline pumps, and some gas stations only had one type of gas pump so.....it don't really mean nuthin 'bout folks thereabouts.

This five page article--and I admit we need 50 pages to really get into the subject--just underlines everything I ever thought! hahahahaha
Oh, it's just an expression!
Jesus H. Christ!
Let us lull them all into this perspective. I mean the teabaggers!
Damn!
The hypocrisy as well as the uncovering of the basic culture down there...
Oh well

Here's a sample of the culture down there - or in my case - down here. I once asked a man I barely knew not to use what's usually considered most racist word I've never said as it is offensive to me. He sneered and repeated it. I called him an asshole and my cousin got pissed at me. Another time I worked with an old carpenter and I asked him to quit saying "Mescan" in front of me as it offended me and insulted my daughter whose father was a Mexican citizen.. I was extremely polite about it and he came after me with a hammer and called me a crazy bitch.
I have no idea if Perry is a racist or not. I've never met the man. My grandparents certainly were. A lot of my customers still are. You might be surprised at the things they say to me when they don't even know me. Did you guys know Obama is WORSE than Kadafi? Or so I've been told by a customer.

Perry takes the money from where ever it originates.
This guy would sell his soul for a million bucks and then ask for more!
He is amoral!
If hidden contextual concepts help him with NAZI militia, then that' okay.
He holds prayer meetings with folks who would wish that all Black folks would turn into rabbits. I have written blogs on this subject.
Perry is a racist by deposit! hahahahahaha
Perry believes in whatever will get him elected.
But deep deep down, this man resides in 19th century America with only one aim.
MAKE ME MONEY! HA

All you have to do in Texas is throw out one "aint everything awful" to anyone and there's about a 90% chance they'll come back immediately with an anti-Obama comment. As for the n-word, it is used regularly in rural Texas.

Yep. Being a native is difficult for my kind.

Ta-Nehisi Coates, posting today on Herman Cain's flip flop on the ranch story, talks about the difference between Republican racism and racism in the liberal world:
We'll Tell You When To Be Offended, Herman...
By the way, in that post, among a group of links, is a link to his take on the Michael Moore/Maher joke, written way back on Sept. 15. He finds the joke racist, and explains why.
Clearly though, he sees a big difference, explained in the Herman Cain post.

THEY PAINTED OVER IT! HAHAHAHAHAHA
I have done blogs about painting over documents!
I went to the Recorder of Deeds (The Registrar of Titles) in my county and I have blogged about how some wonderful enlightened person ordered that a black marker--that could be seen through--be used to 'cover-up' our racist past. Especially in the context of suburbia.
I saw it!
I saw the sins committed!
I have blogged on many occasions about St. Jewish Park (St. Louis Park) where Jews like Frankin and Friedman went to school.
That recorder, decided that he would not hide the past sins of our county--not just our county but our country.
There it is for all to see.
Then the 'bundlers' just decided that they were more important than those lowly county recorders. But that is another subject.
The quotes I found at the Washington Post just confirmed quotes I have heard or seen for many decades.
Thank you for the links!

"we'll tell you when to be offended, Herman"--what a great line.
The psychology is tricky here but my take is that the sudden movement toward Cain had more to do with a slap at Perry than anything Cain had going. But now, by happenstance (are there coincidences like this) they have an excuse to drop Cain because regardless of the issue he looks like an inexperienced flake for taking a position he had to change the next day. Wheels within wheels.

Here is what troubles me. As a Roman Catholic we are all supposed to go to confession once in awhile:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSwaGgAjQZk
Do these people Oxa ever look back? Do they ever think; hey I could have done things differently? If I had more time?
There is no remorse, no second guessing, no confession!
It is all so damn sad!

Talking about Republican hypocrisy, news you won't hear on Fox News or Rush. Did everyone see the Bloomberg Financial news report, below? Of course, if Koch Industries trades with terrorist nations like Iran, you can be sure they are real American patriots and only get into politics to protect our freedoms:
"Koch Brothers Flout Law With Secret Iran Sales"
by NCD on Mon, 10/03/2011 - 11:34pm
I did read this and I think several other links on this subject!
Maybe 'we' gottem?
Who knows?
But the enormity of the larceny might be of import!
Who knows?
Bribery, extortion, payoffs....
All we can do is pray. hahahahah
by Richard Day on Mon, 10/03/2011 - 11:36pm
Question for the Supremes, if you make millions from illegal trade with terrorist nations, and then purchase the Republican Party and its gang of lying ass politicians, is the money you do it with still constitutionally protected free speech?

Herman Cain unwittingly has shown himself to be the negative stereotype that has come to represent Black Republicans. The general sense is that Black Republicans will put up with any nonsense that has been agreed upon by the party hierarchy, including voter suppression.
Black Democrats, on the other hand, will voice their discontent with party leadership, including a former President during a heated Primary race. Black Democrats will voice their displeasure with other Democrats freely.
It is always laughable when Republicans, especially Black Republicans, accuse the majority of Black voters to be brainwashed or on a plantation because most Black voters reject Republican policies. Cain may not be brainwashed, but his backbone is made from yellow straw.

Let us examine what Cain has accomplished.
With his 10,000 shops he supplies a lot of minimum wage jobs with no benefits to poor people whilst supplying a nutritionally deficient population with garbage food. hahahaha
Yeah he is the model repubs should just love.
Wattree is on vacation or something but I sure wish he would have weighed in on the four or more blogs discussing this issue.
Brain washed!
The teabaggers are the unwashed brain washed. hahaha
They buy this corporate model lock stock and barrel and do not seem to understand that fascists like the Koch bros are financing their robot calls.
by Richard Day on Tue, 10/04/2011 - 10:13am
In Cain's defense, he belongs to a party that once asked whether making a hamburger at a fast-food restaurant could be classified as a manufacturing job.
