FUNNIEST LINE
On January 23, 1979, Mays was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He garnered 409 of the 432 ballots cast (roughly 95 percent);[45]referring to the other 23 voters, acerbic New York Daily News columnist Dick Young wrote, "If Jesus Christ were to show up with his old baseball glove, some guys wouldn't vote for him. He dropped the cross three times, didn't he?"[24]

OH AND TAKE A LOOK AT THIS:
What Mr. Mays went through as one of the first Black ballplayers (1951 Majors) must have been incredible.
He still would have to stay in 'colored hotels' and certainly had been verbally attacked by MJB 'fans' just like Robinson and Aaron and a host of others for decades.
Oh an Mr. Mays made his home in Harlem for chrissakes. This man would never eschew his own kind.
How could I ever stand in his shoes?
Mays had better knees than Mantle of course and he never stopped keepin on!
The Beast's essay is wonderful. And I certainly wish to read the book.
HE DROPPED THE CROSS THREE TIMES, DIDN'T HE?
What a line!
I was thinking about Mr. Mays because of course he has been celebrated again as an octogenarian veteran during openers in MLB recently.
What a guy.
The NL had longer fences and he began in a period where many many whites just hated him. And he managed to hit 660 homers during his career and is remembered as one of the best outfielders of all time and...
I was thinking also about folks like Peewee Reese who embraced Jackie on the field in front of a racist audience and I think about courage. The extreme courage of Mr. Robinson but the courage of a Southern ballplayer defending his teammate.
Mr. Mays' persona as some happy go lucky outfielder did not exactly match his real feelings as a human being, but what an actor!
I think I am wandering now...

I stay away more from Rush and Beck and the rest because it helps my problem with headaches. Hahahah
But this Beck rant really got to me. And anyone who reads the normal liberal sites knows all about this rant.
"This guy," Beck said of Obama, "you put him in a military uniform, I'm not kidding you, you put him on a balcony in a military uniform, this guy is a full-fledged dictator."
"He's a sociopath!," Beck proclaimed, later in the broadcast. "He's sociopathic!."
Then, after an hour of ranting about Obama and the press and the Republicans, Beck finally snapped and declared that he is "not going to pay attention to these people any more, I am not going to waste my life," screaming that "I have a right to pursue my happiness, I have a right to do what I was born to do!":

I originally read this rant on Huffpo and probably The Beast and....
Beckerhead is screaming about the new figures regarding Obamacare and I think it is fair to ask:
WHAT IN THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT!
As KO's and many other sites have discerned, people in stone houses should not throw glasses!
Like this never happened before.
What have military uniforms to do with health care?
Beckerhead takes it so personally and all I can think is that he is mad because 'he thinks' that he personally has to pay more money for his employees.
I wrote not so long ago about these right wing nuts praying for an end to helping sick people receive some sort of health care.
Well Rush and Beck and all these right wing pricks are mad because Obama and the dems beat their initial goal of 'signing up' 7.1 million folks on the newly established ACA.

The Vikings were defeated in some last minute championship game by the Dallas Cowboys and fans threw beer bottles on the field. Why? I never figured it out since even when we got to the Super Bowl we lost anyway. hahahaha
Krauthammer (in his inimitable passive-agressive manner) attacks the numbers; that is the CBO and then Rush does the same and the WSJ does the same and....

You know what I think (as if I know anything)?
I think that mamas and papas and grandmas and grampas and aunts and uncles wish very much that the little children receive proper health care.
And I think that mamas and papas hope that they might have access to real health care (instead of ER like Helen Hunt) so that they might care for their children.
And I think the Right finally figured out that they have lost a 4 year argument.

CONCLUSION.
Look, Mr. Mays kept this persona. A happy, nonjudgmental persona.
In public the man never threw stones.
Hank became a little more vociferous as far as attacking his enemies.
Jackie went ahead and entered political discussion.
But none of these heroes used the F word or screamed for violent revenge/justice or lost their cool.
They won.
And everyone knows they won against all odds.
And I admire all of these heroes.
The enemy will always be with us.
How best to approach the wrong?
That's all I got.

They don't know what to make of all the sign ups. They are not used to failing. The far right has had a pretty good run for the last 30 years but things are changing. SCOTUS is doing their best to slow down the change but even that won't prevent the tide.
Open enrollment will start again in October and there will be many more new policies sold. I expect there will be some GOP governors that will go down in flames in November over this. People need Medicaid and are dying because of the lack of it.
I am glad to see the media start talking about the plutocrats and the danger in letting them buy elections. I am not looking forward to the air war here in Florida.
