Donald Trump, following weeks of gnawing agitation over his advisers’ attempts to temper his style, moved late Tuesday to overhaul his struggling campaign by rebuffing those efforts and elevating two longtime associates who have encouraged his combative populism.
Stephen Bannon, a former banker who runs the influential conservative outlet Breitbart News and is known for his fiercely anti-establishment politics, has been named the Trump campaign’s chief executive. Kellyanne Conway, a veteran Republican pollster who has been close to Trump for years, will assume the role of campaign manager.
“Buckle up,” wrote a Trump strategist in a text message Wednesday to The Washington Post.

Trump crowds throw punches at protesters and yell for locking up Hillary. Trump talks about menstrual periods and shooting Hillary, and we are waiting for things to " get" nasty?

Ok, nastier. A lot nastier, I predict.

I think this tactic will make Trump look even more desperate. Last night, Trump used a forum in the whitest county in Wisconsin to reach out to African-Americans. He said that economic problems facing blacks in Milwaukee were due to Democratic Mayors. Trump said that Hillary was a bigot. He ignores the admiration that he receives from David Duke.
The problem with Trump's analysis is that Scott Walker has made Wisconsin an economic basket case. Walker presided over mass voter suppression in Wisconsin. Earlier this month, a federal judge struck down Walkers voter suppression law. Trump will change few minds with this new tactic. His hard core supporters will double down, back in the minds of many, Trump is simply unstable.

This will be the most offensive campaign we've ever witnessed. It will be deep in white resentment politics. I guess it ends the modern Republican Party and morphs into a postmodern populist BircherMovement.
The one question remaining is, when does Mike Pence jump ship to save the tattered remains of his once promising career?

Pence represents the other Republican problem, the Christianists, the fire and brimstone people who feel that their flawed interpretation of the Bible is the moral guidepost for everyone. Pence is a homophobe and anti- women's who hides behind religion to justify his unpopular political positions.

Even Indiana Republicans want Pence gone.

Pence is probably down on his knees praying for Trump to stroke out, and for him (Pence) to move up by acclamation. Then he can pick Jeb to be VP and even the base can't complain.

Upon hearing about the Trump campaign shakeup, a former Breitbart editor noted that Bannon likes kissing Trump's behind. During a live interview on CNN, the former editor referred to Trump as a "turd tornado".

Edit to add:
In a documentary on the controversies surrounding Clinton and Trump set to air in September, Omarosa Manigault, an African-American surrogate for Trump, predicts that Trump' opponents will have to "bow down" to him after the election.

The PBS thing appears to be another 'both sides', 'both candidates' reading of the Beltway Temple Holy Words of Both Siderism by MSM.

When Trump made his "outreach" to the black community yesterday, Don Lemon of CNN had a multi-segment panel discussing the "meaning" of Trump's speech. This was a total waste of time. The MSM is so dumbed down that nonsense is elevated to worthy of rational debate.
The question is repeatedly asked what can Democrats do to attract racists, bigots, homophobes, misogynists, etc to the Democratic Party. If you don't accept climate change, find common ground with David Duke, and believe that ACORN is rigging the election, no Democratic Party member is going to connect with you. The question is not what is wrong with Hillary, the question is what is wrong with a segment of the voting public.

Running for president? Me? Don't you people understand sarcasm?

I'm more curious where his next gig takes him - with Elon Musk to Mars? (backing out at last minute, of course - no towers or women there)

I don't buy this idea that he's self sabotaging his campaign. This is who he is. This is who he was when he was on The Apprentice. This is who he was when he gave the interviews with Stern. He may not want to be president. He may not have expected to win. But this idea that he's deliberately sabotaging his campaign by acting the way he's always acted and being who he has always been doesn't make sense to me.
by ocean-kat on Fri, 08/19/2016 - 9:40am
Well, if he didn't expect to win but somehow he became more popular & serious than his reality show expectations, it might make sense for him to make sure he doesn't win. But it's a bit like a reverse Turing Test - how do we tell if the unintelligent behavior is natural or artificial?
