The real Yule was Thursday (appropriated for Christmas by the Roman Catholics). Always darkest before this "dawn" in the north, then the light starts coming back.
This USA Today article has an astrologer predicting "worst day of the year" because Saturn lined up with the Sun and both with Capricorn, first time since 1664. Rebellion and such. We made it through.

What happened to those south of the border? Chopped liver, just fall off the edge/bottom if yhe earth? No solace, no justice, no solstice anymore... (solstice delayed is solstice denied)

a continual war over the light, or sharing of it, depending upon your perspective
actually what I think can truly be called unjust is that those closer to the equator always get more light than those father away

South of the equator is like Bizzaro world in the superman comics. Everything is opposite down there. Down there President Trump actually is the greatest president the world has ever seen but he never mentions it cause he's so humble.

That's like a super mondo voodoo pin in your "Southern Hemisphere", I'd say - you might come out feeling rather Southern Cross.
Of course Colón is the Spanish name for that great explorer Columbus, and it's not surprising there's a Colón right at the entrance to our (western hemisphere's) largest canal. Vaya con Dios! You'll need it!
This is the internet age - never too much information.
