Why Russia’s Facebook ads were less important to Trump’s victory than his own Facebook ads.
Noticed lots of positive buzz about this story on Twitter from people who should know, I'll post some of it in comments. One paragraph excerpt for a taste:
During the run-up to the election, the Trump and Clinton campaigns bid ruthlessly for the same online real estate in front of the same swing-state voters. But because Trump used provocative content to stoke social media buzz, and he was better able to drive likes, comments, and shares than Clinton, his bids received a boost from Facebook’s click model, effectively winning him more media for less money. In essence, Clinton was paying Manhattan prices for the square footage on your smartphone’s screen, while Trump was paying Detroit prices. Facebook users in swing states who felt Trump had taken over their news feeds may not have been hallucinating.

Perhaps - I've always had the feeling that Parscale was a beard on something more sinister. Maybe he really believes what he says.

Tooting my own horn: .....Facebook for now, be there or be square, something else will eventually take it place on HSG's Feb.18 news thread: HOW MUCH DID RUSSIA ACTUALLY HELP TRUMP?

And why was Trump dispatched to Michigan and Wisconsin the last days - a Facebook algorithm or something quite a bit more nefarious?
Were those hidden Alfa Bank and Spectrum servers tied to actual voting rolls and Facebook accounts and Russian-generated ads? How much chaos-per-post-per-ad-buy did Trump ads generate vs Russian ads money, and how much supporting meat world activity was taking place to support it? People who don't work in Silicon Valley are surprised by the power of algirithms, but people who don't work in politics are surprised by the reach of a climber like Manafort. This article is a lot if coulda-mighta without a lot of did-a. I'll keep looking elsewhere as well.

they are having a tough time controlling the viral part of the equation:

Sounds great - except Parscale sux. Pretty successful company there, eh? what will Brad do the next 2 1/2 years, aside from cashing Russian checks?
