Retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North, a central figure of the Iran-contra affair in the 1980s, has been named president of the National Rifle Association. The NRA’s board of directors chose North to be the organization’s president Monday morning, after NRA president Pete Brownell decided not to seek a second term.
“This is the most exciting news for our members since Charlton Heston became President of our Association,” said NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre. “Oliver North is a legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator and skilled leader. In these times, I can think of no one better suited to serve as our President." [....]

How about, “Disgraced, former marine and member of the Reagan Administration to take the helm of the NRA.”
Now the NRA is really hyped about this...they have a real (republican - type) celebrity in charge.

yeah, it's a "great" pick, just the kinda guy to rile up the worst crazies who own guns more than they already are:
Conspiracy theorists think she’s a Parkland ‘crisis actor.’ She’s a Brooklyn chef — and she’s scared.
Another Emma Gonzalez’s life has been turned upside down by a tragedy 1,250 miles away from her home. At first she tried to shrug off the social-media onslaught, but then she realized: “They could definitely find me if they wanted to.”
No mild mannered sensible gun rights for the NRA, no way, they're gonna fan the flames, going all out. To sell more guns, to get more money. Rinse and repeat. As fast as they can, because days are numbered. And once they are out there, but no more are coming down the pipeline, they can always support the black market or something.
