A federal judge issued a nationwide injunction Thursday, temporarily blocking the Trump administration from imposing new antiabortion restrictions on the use of federal family planning funds designed to assist 4 million low-income women.
The rule, promulgated in March by the Department of Health and Human Services, would have barred programs receiving the money from saying or doing anything to advise or assist a patient about securing an abortion. Critics called it a “gag rule.”
Groups receiving money under the Title X program, about $286 million annually, already were prohibited from performing abortions with those funds. But under the new rule, they could no longer refer a patient for an abortion and would also have to maintain a “clear physical and financial separation” between services funded by the government and abortion services or referrals [....]

Abortion is a reproductive right. Politics and reproductive rights should not be combined. Women should be allowed to decide with what they do with their pregnancies and these issues should not be used to win votes or for popularity purposes.
Abortion is a very serious issue for women who are pregnant. It is something they give a serious thought. It should be a scientific thing and not political issue. All decisions about abortion should be based on facts and not feelings.

Abortion is a political issue. You repeating over and over that abortion's a "right" and not a "political issue" doesn't make it any less political. Many "rights" started out as simply "political issues" - some revert to being "political issues" despite years as "rights".
But thanks for stopping by.
PS - the "facts" about an 8-week old embryo aren't entirely objective, as much as we'd like to leave "feelings" out of it, whereas out "feelings" towards the pregnant mother/girl are generally or what often what abortion rights proponents try to push to the front in the discussions/arguments. Hard to have your cake and eat it too.

The is the right ruling. Every woman knows what is right for her now and in the future. Putting restrictive laws on them means their have no thinking capacity and therefore the state has to think for them.
No one tells another what to do with his or her life. Women like men should be allowed free will to decide. Otherwise, men should also be barred from sleeping with women just in case they impregnate them.
Fascism should not be allowed to creep into the free world.
The right to decide to keep or terminate a pregnancy should be kept at an individual basis.

So where do you stand on vaccines and hate speech laws and mandatory schooling to 16/18 and alcohol abuse by pregnant women? How are you with abortion at 8 months? At 10 months? ;-)
Many/most people I know are partly confused about what is right for them now and in the future.
And I'm pretty sure people are running around all the time twlling othwrs what to do with their lives, sometimes with the authority to make them listen.
A bit of nuance to these issues goes a long way. Pulling out the "fascism" card 2nd comment is heading into Godwin territory at light speed.
