Attorney John Dowd said in a statement that the investigation, now led by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, was fatally flawed early on and “corrupted” by political bias. He called on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees that probe, to shut it down.

Here is the story Maggie mentions:
Trump Lawyer Says F.B.I. Should End Russia Inquiry
By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MAGGIE HABERMAN 9:28 PM ET @ NYTimes.com
The lawyer, John Dowd, said he was speaking on behalf of President Trump, only to backtrack shortly afterward and say he was speaking only for himself.
Note that the Times also has put this link below that on the home page as related:
Mueller Wants Trump’s Business Records. What’s the Russia Connection?
and here is the latest tweet from Maggie's co-author in response to hers:

After just now seeing this piece @ Axios on Congressional Dem reaction, concluding with: Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.): "Every member of Congress, Republican and Democrat, needs to speak up in defense of the Special Counsel. Now." I got an inkling that this attorney statement may have been timed partly for the Sunday morning political talk shows. If that's the case, another article I just read comes to mind, about Trump's favorite, Fox News, @ The Hill, Shepard Smith announces 'previously planned' vacation amid Hannity, Ingraham spat where it was reported that Sunday host Chris Wallace was yucking it up with Smith over the non-professional "entertainment" crew of Fox pundits and basically continuing to dis them. Then I saw, also @ The Hill this afternoon. that Hannity was making a big deal of inviting Comey to come on the show.
Suffice it to say: there may be some fireworks on Chris Wallace's Fox Sunday show tomorrow? At the very least some faux fireworks. Suspect Wallace might decide to play big shot serious journalist, especially as he has the experience/background for CBS and NBC on the White House beat.

I suggest you stock up on tinfoil, you're going to be wearing out a lot of hats waiting for that narrative to play out. It's like this: the "CIA killed JKF" people are ahead of you and quite a few others.

Do you know who Vicki Newland is? According to Google she has more identities than Sybil.
by barefooted on Sat, 03/17/2018 - 11:28pm
You so funny. Got to admit I did the same search but the Sybil thing didn't jump to mind, nice twist.

40 & "By the Book" - I get it, Peter, you're going all Biblical on our collective ass, ratcheting it up, jawboning it down - hope we ain't got to Jules quoting Ezekiel yet and we still got time... BTW, the new quantum computers are measured in "qubits" - wonder how Noah'd feel about that, though at the moment 50 qubits is all IBM can muster, and in a single dimension. When we get to Ark size in 3-dimensions, Holy Synchronicity, that'll be enough compute power to re-enact Creation all over again (and maybe even do it rigjt the first time yick yuck yuck)

Snowflake Trump, aka David Dennison, needs a roomful of NY lawyers to fend off a porn queen. Taking on the FBI and the CIA may be a bridge too far.

Trump accuses Andrew McCabe of producing 'fake memos' of meetings

Note that Trump basically live tweeted Fox & Friends two hours ago in 3 tweets; the "Comey lied under oath" one links to the show's Twitter feed to "watch", and then there's that the Mueller team is made up of "13 hardened Democrats, some big Hillary supporters and Zero Republicans".

No one but the principals know the results of the FBI investigation into McCabe just as no one but the principals know the results of the Mueller investigation. Virtually nothing has been released to the public from either investigation so it's all speculation. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that is simply pushing an ideological agenda. Because of his 25 years of work with the CIA and his 4 years as director of the CIA Brennen probably knows all the players well and might have a bit more information about how the FBI conducts it's business than the average American but it's not likely he know all the details of the FBI's inner workings. Brennen's opinions are most likely based on what he knows and feels about the integrity of the players. Peter's speculations are based solely on the agenda he wants to push here.

Now, Peter, we all know you like to have your facts straight, so I suggest you reconsider this statement:
McCabe got the boot for lack of candor apparently lacking enough for them to also strip him of his retirement fund
There were a few issues cited by the AG for his firing, "lack of candor" was but a piece. And as I'm sure you know, but failed to express correctly, "his retirement fund" is not a thing and he wasn't stripped of the thing it actually is - but perhaps you aren't trying to be correct, after all.
Afterthought ...throwing Chris Wray's name in the mix really doesn't help your cause. Just so ya know.
And a really serious postscript, Peter - which Vicki Newland did you choose for your earlier post and why?

For a sec I thought you meant you put a URL up, but no, you just spin the news as you want while insulting others' perception. #LOSER

Yez, it's a wannabe Kellyanne. It's a real bad side effect that the whole blogosphere thing wrought: everyone can be a spinmeister, who needs war rooms, I gotch yur war room right here on my blog. (Way back when, in the early days, I remember that when Sean Paul K. would do Where's the Outrage?! and then rant about what how he would spin this or that bit of the news if he was king of the world, I would think: I really don't like it when he does that, but I couldn't figure out why. Now I know.Political spin sucks. It's like a pep rally in high school, which I also hated.)

So you start off calling what we post "snowflake", whatever that means, and you want me to respond? Go piss up a rope. It's the first step to being a snake charmer, though charm is a long way off - focus on being a snake first, a talent that seems near at hand.

This is propaganda, spin, rumor and gossip mixed with some fake news used to energise the true believers.
A much better description of Fox News than "fair and balanced" ... thanks!

Third time's the charm? It's Victoria (her nickname is Toria) Nuland, and I'll leave it to you to correct the rest of your comment, Peter.

You saw this,I presume? Trouble for Trump if Mueller meets Stormy @ CNN, March 18: Stormy Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, has a talent for stirring the publicity pot relating to his controversial porn star client. He dropped his latest morsels Friday during a drive-by of CNN and MSNBC's morning shows....
by artappraiser on Mon, 03/19/2018 - 2:35am
What ever peter. What I posted was the facts. You have never seen me speculate here on either the McCabe or Mueller investigation. I have not accused Trump or any person of collusion or crimes, except those who have already pled guilty as part of a plea deal. I don't have a problem with those who want to speculate but I don't do it. I have some thoughts as to what the most likely scenario is but I haven't posted them. Josh at TPM has what I consider the most astute analysis. I'm content to wait until the investigation is done to see how it plays out. I do have a problem when people claim speculation is fact as you did.

Your link is to the TPM homepage, so I'm not sure what specific article you meant. Can you pin it down?
by barefooted on Mon, 03/19/2018 - 1:47pm
There's no one single article that summarizes the whole story but a couple of dozen over the last year as each new revelation came out. I just thought I'd give tpm a little plug as I think a very good site to check regularly for news analysis.
