And here is a view regarding the possibility/likelihood of such a clash.

What the fuck? Why are you peddling this jingoist pro-Russia propaganda here? I should unpublish it, but fuck it, no one's going to take this shit seriously. Russia as equal partner? Fuck them - or at least Putin - try holding free elections, not stealing Crimea & the Azov Sea, not assisting chemical weapons attacks against Syrian civilians, not assassinating journalists and dissidents at home and abroad, noy aking a national practivce of money laundering abroad, try not assisting the hijacking of US, UK, Catalonian, and numerous other elections through massive trollbot and psy-ops operations and feeding stolen data to Wikileaks.
Get a life, Lulu. A non-Russian one.

It might be a good idea by your lights to un-publish the article in question and then require any submission to be pre-approved by either you or Arta. In that way dagblog could continue to have amiable discussions that are 99% patting on the back of each other by you and arta but have been largely abandoned by almost everyone else who once made this an interesting place to interact and discuss various viewpoints. I see that there are still many individual readers [apparently] by the view count.

Well hey, I could go to Russia Today or Spartacus Youth League and pull up pro-Russian propaganda myself. If we don't care about quality and believability, we could engage Flat-earthians, pastafarians and various Wiccan orders. Arguing with you for the billionth time over whether Putin actually sent in those "little green men" into Crimea (yes, he did) is probably as responsible as anything else for sucking the energy out of this site. Yeah, Wattree et al also formed a basis - only the loony debates would gain much traction. Peter unregistered tossing the latest conservative spin in with abandon... what else do you miss?
So really, dude, let's discuss - after Putin knocked off Skripal with poison and imprisoned Pussy Riot and helped Assad attack his population with chemical weapons, do you really want to engage Russia sa "equals"? I mean, we tried that by making them part of the G-8, and where did that go? Sincw when did you become so entranced with leaders who'd cling onto power for 20+ years stealing much of the country's wealth for his oligarch friends? Seems like you'd love the shit out of sum Latin tinhorn dictators then - miss Somoza?

2011 - Lulu complining about the circle jerk of like opinion - seems the good 'ol days weren't so good after all. Who knew? (you remember Resistance?)
2013 - PP *defending* Lulu against ArtAppraiser and NCD (and sticking up for Greenwald and what I thought unwarranted accusations against Snowden, vs documented Congressional runarounds of FISA & other protections). But then over time, facts change - as did Greenwald, what we knew about Snowden, our relationship to Russia & their behavior in Ukraine & in hacking elections/poisoning dissidents, the humanitarian disaster in Syria, etc... www.dagblog.com/comment/185434
[PS - PP & AA disagree on things like Hillary, Avenatti, impeachment, etc. - oddly enough we can disagree yet back up our arguments solid enough where we don't feel the other's pulling sleight of hand - just opinion & difference in analysis.]
(2013 - off-topic PP bitching about Biden... - hadn't realized it was that early)
2015 - PP complaining about Lulu invoking the "World War 3 could start at any moment" card over and over
2013 - Lulu noting HIllary's age & heath will be relevant issue no matter what & complaining about lack of new blood
2016 - Lulu cheering on Tulsi's endorsement of a guy 6 years older than Hillary
2016 - PP slamming Lulu for supporting Tulsi who praises Putin on Fox for doing things Lulu slammed Obama for doing, including praising Putin's over-the-top bombing in Syria, while she complains about the nuclear peace pact with Iran. Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, supposedly... guess I'm small-minded.

This is a silly comment. Why include Arta when she's not on the masthead and has no power to control anything here? Just because she's a prolific poster who often disagrees with you? I took PP's comment about unpublishing your link as hyperbole for dramatic effect, not as a serious threat. Even if he was serious I'm sure that Wolraich would never allow it. And finally your link was worthless. There's not a single piece of evidence to support any of the assertions made in it. It's pure propaganda. Why would you offer it here when everyone of us can see through it's empty claims? It's by far the worst stupidest link you've ever posted here.
by ocean-kat on Sun, 04/21/2019 - 2:52pm
More than silly, it's basically the argument that if there were fewer links on the tiny little "In The News" section of this website, more people would participate on this site. Really? I haven't yet found anywhere on the net where that theory works.
Especially as the "Blog Now" link is still right at the top of the page for people who are logged in. Just sitting and waiting for someone to click it...
by artappraiser on Sun, 04/21/2019 - 4:37pm
Your primary link is based on report from Center on New American Security, led by a Kurt Campbell and Ms Flournoy. Both were in the Obama administration. I assume they are not Bolton type crackpots.
Why they wargame this stuff ...."who knows"..... as Hair Furor says. I thought war was now on the internet and with political bs, anarchy stoking, and disinformation.
by NCD on Sun, 04/21/2019 - 1:35pm
Military leaders war game everything. They even war game conflicts caused and affected by climate change.

Re: Your primary link is based on report from Center on New American Security
Whole thread is crazy, comments like alternative universe.
Because what Lulu actually posted is a Business Insider news article by Ryan Picknell rounding up some analysis of recent war games by hawkish military guys, as is their wont. The site must pay for a Business Insider subscription.
I looked up the quoted Robert O. Work, he was Deputy Secretary of Defense under Obama and one year under Trump, 2014-2017 before that Under Secretary for Navy, 2009-2013. A Marine colonel before that. He was only running CNAS from 2013-14.
Clear to me what this article is: these guys are pitching a story to the media in order to promote more funds for military development in order to be more competitive (because they believe Russia and China are currently eating our lunch.) Probably sent out a press release saying: all interviews welcome. Seems to me very John McCain wing, maybe with a sprinkling of Obama/Hillary. Mainly pushing the message: our military needs more toys and "smarter" strategery.

The war with Russia we're in vs. the Russian war games someone wants us to fret over...

I have only been interested in the "more toys" argument in the past when the toys would help save lives in combat. Otherwise I would always think they already have plenty enough toys. But you are right to point out that it's a whole new ballgame now.
by artappraiser on Mon, 04/22/2019 - 7:17pm
Yes, your "more money for toys" comment was apt - China did something on the moon so we must respond (a port? another train?-I can't wait... Misson to Mars calling)
