White Men Stockpile Guns Because of Racial Anxiety
By rmrd0000 on Thu, 03/15/2018 - 11:37am |A new study in the Scientific American adds to data suggesting white men stockpile guns because they fear a takeover of the country by racial minorities. Stockpilers tend to be undereducated and in financial distress. As a group, they tend to be Republican but not very religious. As noted before, 3% of gun owners possess 50% of the weapons.

Interestingly, Black people are more likely to have had a gun pointed at them or been shot than whites, but whites express a higher need to own a gun, according to a Pew study.
Racial fear plays a significant role in the resistance to gun control.

King sought a concealed carry permit after his home was bombed. King had an arsenal in his home. It was later that had became an complete adherent of nonviolence.

After the assassinations of King, JFK, and RFK, LBJ was able to pass the Gun Control Act of 1968. The law limited access to guns of ex-convicts, the mentally ill, and those under 21.

On the bombing front, there are bombings of blacks in Austin, Texas. The initial bombing was dismissed as a “suicide”.

Still, even if something is a polemic, or is polemical, that doesn't mean its arguments are, therefore, off base. Which you already knew.

It is hard not have a biased view on how guns are treated. Trayvon Martin was killed within seconds carrying a toy gun in an open carry state. Philando Castile was killed despite having a gun permit. The NRA was nowhere to be found when it came to defending gun right for these black people. In fact, the NRA targets blacks as potential threats.
An interesting thing happened during the 17-minute student walkout yesterday. The younger sister of the Charleston terrorist Dylan Roof send out a Snapchat hoping that the students participating in the walkout got shot. She expected that only black students would walkout. The young woman was arrested after authorities became aware of the post. She was found to have a knife and marijuana. (Or should I say she had a weapon and drugs?}

When there is talk of more police in schools or arming teachers, Black parents see active threats to the lives of their children. Black parents worry about handguns, Whites appear to be focused on assault weapons. Race colors how we view threats from guns.

I believe that all Travon has was a bunch of Skittles. The kid with the toy gun was shot by a cop in a car at point blank range just as his partner drove the car right up to the kid. All on tape, too.
