Okay so after my blathering on my thread in response to you, please don't take this the wrong way. I am not posting the following to make a point or serve an agenda, It's just that it kind of surprised me to see this from him and I thought you might like to know about it if you missed it:

If you haven't been following Doonesbury over the years:
Here's background on the female character in this strip, Alex: http://doonesbury.com/strip/cast/member/4
Curiously, there is no BG on Toggle, her BF, at the site. He's a working class vet, who suffered a serious head wound in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan which left him with a speech impediment. Toggle has an almost insufferably unjaded, positive attitude about people and life. He works in a music studio as well as being enrolled in college. As portrayed he is almost too good to believe. Part of Trudeau's attempts, going back many years now, to show his sympathy, respect and admiration for veterans of the recent and ongoing US wars. Apparently much like Wolfrum at dag based on his latest, he seems to view these folks as largely forgotten heroes and heroines not because they are flawless human beings but because they serve and are sacrificing and sometimes dying in those conflicts. I have found some of the strips that feature Toggle's very rough-around-the-edges mom, and Alex, hilarious.
Alex and Toggle have kind of an unlikely thing going, for awhile now.
