according to Martin Wolf.
In the Aug 18 FT.Where he encapsulates Plan Ryan this way
The Ryan plan is (an) example...of the Republican policy (of) cutting taxes in order to increase deficits and so justify cuts in spending
Then goes on to do what any self-respecting economist could ,and ought to , do ;actually read Ryan's plan and add up the numbers to see whether it does what Ryan claims.
It doesn't.
It's similar to a New Yorker cartoon I've mentioned before:scientist pointing at a black board crammed with equations says "here's where a miracle occurs"
But read it for yourself

Interesting election so far. The Dems have no ideas and the Republicans have a bunch of bad ideas. Obama's people are betting no ideas beats bad ideas.

The Republican idea is to pretend they are against deficits while what they are really against is poor people.

Don't deficits lead to inflation and inflation hurts the poor?
All because some senator wanted a bridge to nowhere, a loaf of bread will cost $5.00 a loaf?

Not necessarily. It depends on the slack in the economy. But you know that. " "and inflation hurts the poor?"

Not necessarily? We have a huge deficit and we have no jobs.
It doesn't take a high school student or a rocket scientist to figure out, we got a problem with this model.
Maybe you didn't know it, Money doesn't grow on trees.
At the first sign of troubling inflation the FED will raise interest rates.
Now tell me that won't affect the poor.
Maybe you should go back to High School?

More of the same.
Pity.

I thought that Obama released a plan last year. Tax increases were a core of the proposal.
