For some reason, this tidbit of info from National Geographic got to me.
Japan has played with the moon and private companies are offering trips into space.
I find this just amazing.

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, good for them! I'm a big space nerd, and I love that we have more members in the space exploration club. On the other hand, given the extreme poverty in India, part of me questions if this is the best use of their money. That said, this is a low-cost mission and ends up being only 6.5 cents per Indian (using the more conservative $80 million figure from NPR, whereas India Times puts it at $73 million).
