1954 TO 2014; GOOD NIGHT & GOOD LUCK!

    Joseph McCarthy.jpg

    TED CRUZ

    I just viewed Good Night & Good_Luck

    Just a great flick.

It took me back to when I was four years of age watching the B&W, and of course to buttress that memory I have seen videos going back to that day and age many times.

Clooney's movie of course just uses all this old video that is part of the public domain anyway; interlacing the it with his script.

The fact is that 1954 was a great year for the Left.

Sixty years represents a time span to recognize, like all these blogs and essays taking us back to 1864.

THE WORLD HAS NOT CHANGED THAT MUCH FROM 1864 TO 1954 TO 2014!

    Good Ole Erick Erikson

    Erick Erickson by Gage Skidmore.jpg

Erickson’s post, titled “Fat Lesbians Got All the Ebola Dollars, But Blame the GOP,” cites an NIH-funded study examining why lesbians confront higher rates of obesity; the research is in line with other demographic studies examining public health challenges, but Erickson seized on the study to wage a demagogic attack on the agency for frivolously “studying the propensity of lesbians to be fat.” He also attacked CDC research on gun violence and smoking cessation.

Erickson ranks among the most obnoxiously homophobic conservative commentators. The Fox News contributor has asserted that gay people are on the “road to hell” and accused businesses that serve LGBT consumers of “aiding and abetting” sin.

    Erick is truly a pig.

My persona has changed from decade to decade but once again we have a big fat white guy calling someone ugly and fat and lazy.

Erick has never thought an original thought in his entire goddamn life.

You have to grasp the logic here:

    1. Ebola is a real threat to the good ole U S of A.

    2. We need money and leadership to work with this plague.

    3. Because of fat Lesbians, we do not have the money and we cannot find the money to deal with this new plague. And we are all going to die.

    SOME GUY NAMED VAILLANCOURT

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Vaillancourt

The New Hampshire blog Miscellany Blue first reported that New Hampshire state Rep. Steve Vaillancourt (R) compared Kuster to a "drag queen" in his lengthy post and said she will probably lose to Republican challenger Marilinda Garcia, who is "truly attractive." He writes that his blog post is politically relevant because he "seem[s] to recall" some new polling that shows "an attractive candidate can have as much as a seven to ten point advantage over a less attractive (or even an unattractive) candidate."...

"Let's be honest," Vaillancourt writes. "Does anyone not believe that Congressman Annie Kuster is as ugly as sin? And I hope I haven't offended sin. If looks really matter and if this race is at all close, give a decided edge to Marilinda Garcia."

    Here is the logic:

    1. Beauty Queens always take the prize.

    2. If one is not a beauty queen, she loses, whether she is fat or not.

    3. Americans do not like ugly women.

Who decides who is 'ugly', who decides who is beautiful? Well ugly pundits like Erick I suppose?

I already have written several blogs attacking rush for doing the same exact thing.

Rush is a man who is white and fat and ugly (in body, mind and soul) who attacks my First Lady, a woman of great beauty and great soul and great mind!

And Rush and Erick both get to publish?

    I had to add this.

I personally feel that the greatest and most beautiful First Lady I have ever seen (obviously I never met her) was Eleanor Roosevelt.

This woman wrote the single greatest set  of 'hopes' that this world has ever read or seen or heard.

    People are entitled to:

    LOOK IT UP.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Roosevelt_Award_for_Human_Rights

I love this  woman more than any other woman I have ever read or listened to or viewed from video.

And Eleanor had a terrible voice (according to the tech then available) and  she wore terrible hats and she is the perfect example of privilege, but damn I loved and still love that woman.

In all humility, from the pix I have viewed over the decades, Lincoln was no beauty queen and he probably was the greatest President we ever had.

    1954

Connecting concepts like beauty and sexuality and politics is nothing new.

"In Congress, there was little doubt that homosexuals did not belong in sensitive government positions."[41] Since the late 1940s, the government had been dismissing about five homosexuals a month from civilian posts; by 1954, the number had grown twelve-fold.[42] "Mixed in with the hysterics were some logic, though: homosexuals faced condemnation and discrimination, and most of them--wishing to conceal their orientation--were vulnerable to blackmail."[43] DCI Roscoe Hillenkoetter was called to Congress to testify on homosexuals being employed at the CIA. He said, "The use of homosexuals as a control mechanism over individuals recruited for espionage is a generally accepted technique which has been used at least on a limited basis for many years." As soon as the DCI said these words, his aide signaled to take the remainder of the DCI's testimony off the record. Political Historian, David Barrett, uncovered Hillenkoetter's notes, which reveal the remainder of the statement: "While this agency will never employ homosexuals on its rolls, it might conceivably be necessary, and in the past has actually been valuable, to use known homosexuals as agents in the field. I am certain that if Josef Stalin or a member of the Politburo or a high satellite official were known to be a homosexual, no member of this committee or of the Congress would balk against our use of any technique to penetrate their operations...after all, intelligence and espionage is, at best, an extremely dirty business."[44] The Senators reluctantly agreed the CIA had to be flexible.[45]

    JOSEPH MCCARTHY & ROY COHN

The Rosenberg trial brought the 24-year-old Cohn to the attention of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director J. Edgar Hoover, who recommended him to Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy hired Cohn as his chief counsel, choosing him over Robert Kennedy, reportedly in part to avoid accusations of an anti-Semitic motivation for the investigations. Cohn assisted McCarthy's work for the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, becoming known for his aggressive questioning of suspected Communists. Cohn preferred not to hold hearings in open forums. This mixed well with McCarthy's preference for holding "executive sessions" and "off-the-record" sessions away from the Capitol in order to minimize public scrutiny and to question witnesses with relative impunity. Cohn was given free rein in pursuit of many investigations, with McCarthy joining in only for the more publicized sessions.

When he brought on G. David Schine as chief consultant, speculation arose that Schine and Cohn had a sexual relationship, although some historians have more recently concluded the friendship wasplatonic.[18][19][20] During the Army–McCarthy hearings, Cohn denied having any "special interest" in Schine or being bound to him "closer than to the ordinary friend".[18] Joseph Welch, the Army's attorney in the hearings, made an apparent reference to Cohn's homosexuality. After asking a witness if a photo entered as evidence "came from a pixie", he defined "pixie" for McCarthy as "a close relative of a fairy". Fairy was, and is, a derogatory term for a gay man. Pixie was also a brand name for a line of cheap cameras.[21] The people at the hearing recognized the allusion and found it amusing; Cohn later called the remark "malicious", "wicked", and "indecent".[18] Cohn and McCarthy targeted many government officials and cultural figures not only for suspected Communist sympathies, but also for alleged homosexuality.[22]

What in God's name did being a 'homosexual' have to do with communism for chrissakes?

And I have to add this comment concerning irony.

Who refers Cohn to McCarthy? Most probably a closet gay guy who happened to head the FBI.

And, I believe anyway, Cohn was not only a thug and a front for the Mafia and other nefarious organizations, Cohn was a closet gay guy!

    HUCKLEBERRY

Days after an interview in which Huckabee threatened to leave the GOP if it softened its positions on reproductive rights and marriage equality, he kept up his criticism on his Fox News program this weekend. Huckabee assailed the Supreme Court’s decision last week to let stand a series of lower court rulings in favor of marriage equality, saying he was “utterly disgusted with fellow Republicans who want to walk away from the issue of judicial supremacy just because it’s politically volatile.”...

In a not-so-thinly veiled jab at Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker – who, like Huckabee, is thought to be considering a 2016 presidential run – Huckabee lambasted elected officials who refused to defy the Supreme Court’s decision.

Huckabee, who insists that he is “not homophobic,” has previously cited “the ick factor” as a key reason he opposes marriage equality.

    EL PAPA

Sometimes though, we see real progress in the Human Community.

We do, we just do and every single time I see hints of progress, I am overwhelmed. Cause I nevver saw the progress coming.

“Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community,” the document, known as a “relatio,” states. “Are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?”

Of course a lot of repubs think that Francis is a commie.

    hahahahaah

    Comments

I believe that women are going to be the deciding factor in current politics because of stupid old white men.  The country it moving on and they are not going to be able to hold back the tide.

Damn, I hope you are right Momoe.

    I really do.

    I lose hope sometimes!

I, too, hope you are right, but I know enough "stupid old white [women]" to know that we men* don't hold an enforceable patent on the concept of stupidity. I hope they represent a small enough percentage of the female demographic to not affect your assumptions.

*Although I'll admit to being white and male, I'm not yet ready to concede being "old". In fact, and I'm sure it's due to my exercise and healthy eating, I've been aging backwards so effectively that some of the hair on my head is turning platinum blond, just like when I was a tiny tot.

I just talked with my kids again tonight.

    No kidding.

These folks don't talk about race. They just work hard to keep the  viruses down.

These folks just work real hard to keep the kids alive and as happy as possible.

These folks are just keepin on, keepin on.

Oh and Precious always yells into the new IPOD, Hi Pops.

My son calls me Pop so his eldest calls me Pops. ahhhhahhaha

He used to correct her but I really really love POPS!

    She never shuts up!

Noela has these parents who love her and care for her and consciousness is right around the corner.

What the  hell was the question?

Senility is right around the  corner  for me, anyway!

LOL...it is probably around the corner for me too.

This election feels different.  I watched Grimes debate McTurtle tonight. This was a easy debate to call the winner.  She was really on her game and did not back down. I read when she walked out of the debate through the front door when it was done, the people out side waiting cheered for her.  It was all over the twitter feed. The Senator slipped in and out the back door. There was no audience for this debate but people stood outside  the studio and listened to it.

You could see in his body language that he knew he was spouting lies about Kynect.  It was the same body language that kids use when caught lying but don't want to admit to it. If you get a chance to watch it on C-span watch his body language when ACA come up.  He mostly just did a bunch of mumbling and ramblings and she was vibrant.

He is in trouble and he knows it.
