I just want to write in to express gratitude to the new immigrants from TPM Cafe for all the great material you've contributed over the past few days. Dagblog really came alive this week. I hope that you've enjoyed the experience and that you continue to write and comment here. For those who have just stopped by to check out the scene, I encourage you to crosspost here and see how you like it.
I'm headed to the woods this weekend, but after Labor Day, I'll put together a longer post explaining how reader blogs work at dagblog and what we plan for the future as well as to solicit feedback from you. Dagblog is all about great writing, intelligent debate, freewheeling banter, and unfettered wit.* I look forward to your assistance in extending this environment to facilitate your own writing and participation.
In the meantime, have a great holiday.
Thanks,
Genghis
* Except for Orlando, whose wit requires some fettering.

Thanks, I'm enjoying it.
BTW,I hear there will be big news at TPM tonight.

Thanks Ghengis, and everyone at DAG. It is nice to know we have a friends couch to crash on :)

Good analogy--that's about how I feel.
Watched the "Redneck Woman" youtube vid you linked to at the cafe. Did you link to it because you thought it was funny, or because it was you who performed it? (or none of the above). Ya never know...
I thought it was funny, BTW.
by AmericanDreamer on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 10:16am
I only wish I performed it. Ha! Nah...it was snark. I prefaced it with an intelligent(?) comment followed by a female tribute song glorifying the white trash lifestyle. It seemed Q would dig the context. Glad you liked it too.

I agree with everything Genghis said, except I clearly do not need fettering. I'm also hopeful that we'll finally get some more estrogen up in here!
by Orlando on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 2:12am
Oh I so agree! Guys, cmon the bathroom is a little disgusting. And please put the seat down ok?
by mageduley on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 2:52am
Agree re the estrogen levels. I mean, some guys are actually more or less ok, at least when they're not being, you know, a little too cartoonishly guy-ish. I'm a guy and I like being a guy. But, you know...well, of course you do.
Maybe if you can talk your friend Quinn into migrating...he seems to be an estrogen magnet at the cafe. Or at least he thinks he is. I haven't cleared that thought with management, however. I see Genghis made Quinn's top 100 list at the cafe of people "we" will not miss.
by AmericanDreamer on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 10:22am
Quinn pops in from time to time, mostly to proclaim devotion to Mega Shark. It's weird.
by Orlando on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 1:07pm
Who/What is Mega Shark? I feel that somehow that is something I should know.
by AmericanDreamer on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 2:13pm
The genesis of the Megashark craze.
And the follow up.
by Orlando on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 10:21pm
My OpenSalon followers and my Facebook followers like to read my stuff here better, b/c there are no pop up ads for non-members. So yeah, thanks! But you've been letting me run free for a while and thanks for that too.

As a TPM veteran, I find it quite enjoyable cross posting here and plan to continue.
by David Seaton on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 10:53am
David, just curious, do you plan on living, or see yourself coming back to live, in the US again? Do you vote in Spain, the US, or nowhere? What prompted you to move to Madrid?
You probably answered those questions at the cafe awhile back but I didn't see what you wrote on that.
by AmericanDreamer on Mon, 09/06/2010 - 12:35pm
Just posted my first blog and this is my first comment here. Thanks for the welcome.

Genghis, thanks for the invitation. I get tunnel vision over at TPM and forget to check in with y'all. It was very generous to allow us to take refuge here, and now that we know we can cross post, maybe more of us will.
K, O...my estrogen level is low (old age, you know) but hopefully it will help!
by stillidealistic on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 6:18pm
We're all very glad to have you here. Thanks for reading and posting.

Well, I pulled up on the ejector handle, the canopy blew off and the rockets under my seat fired up and I was blasted out and away from a soon to be fireball wreckage. Now my chute has openned and I'm slowly floating down and see I'm not alone...there are survivors...at least I'll be in good company.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle...Kind of pointless, really. You're already here.
by Orlando on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 8:48am
How's it going, O-cubed one?
by Beetlejuice on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 11:26am
Thank you, Genghis. I'm giving it a try. I like the unstilted discussion I saw here tonight. GFS

Just read David Seaton's blog at TPM about this site, so I mosied on over. So THIS is where you guys are hiding out! Saw something about invites, so did Seaton do a naughty by telling everybody to come over here? If not, I could add a little estrogen. . . .
by Ramona on Tue, 09/07/2010 - 9:16am
Bring on the estrogen. I just posted a piece all about reader blogs.
