When Rumsfeld was serving as Gerald Ford’s White House chief of staff, he asked his friend Dick Cheney to serve as his top assistant. Cheney “reminded me about a couple of arrests he had had for drinking and driving after he got out of college and was working on power lines in Wyoming.” Rumsfeld briefed the new president. “Do you think this is the guy you need for the job?” Ford asked. Rumsfeld said he did. “Then bring him aboard.” The rest, as they say, is history.
(Okay, that's not funny.)
This is a shortened version because I only just thought about it this morning, but watch next Friday for another installment of FF. I'll be on the lookout for the best of the week, and I'll put them here. If you have any ideas for this, send them on. It's the least you can do. (There's a smile in there.)

Michiko Kakutani reviewing Rummy's book, short version:
The tedious, self-serving volume is filled with efforts to blame others.

Tedious, self-serving, blaming others. Why am I not surprised? (I am surprised that Michiko chose to review it. Total waste of time.)

It turns out that the drinking and driving, meh...the drinking and shooting is what makes him a danger to himself and others...

Hi, Ramona...I know this is supposed to be a lighthearted blog entry, but after reading the Bradblog link a memory bell rang so I looked up this CPJ site and sure enough, they are on top of the plight of the journalists in Egypt.
4 journalists killed in 2011
849 journalists killed sing 1992
545 journalists murdered with impunity since 1992
145 journalists in prison worldwide
The Committee to Protect Journalists has been around for 30 years or so, so it isn't a result of current events.

Astonishing numbers. And still they clamor to go out there and do what they do.
I've been so afraid for the journalists I've been watching these past days. They're out there in the crowds, still trying to get the story. I saw Christiane Amanpour out there today telling the people what Mubarak told her. That's gutsy. But without them, we couldn't possibly know the truth. Salutes to all of them.

Thanks for the link, by the way. I've added them to my blogroll.

Forget war criminal Rumsfeld and don’t enrich that wealthy SOB by buying his book "Known and Unknown", instead read a BANNED book like "America Deceived II" by a real rebel and the "World’s Most Hated Author", E.A. Blayre III.
Last link (before Google Books bans it also]:

It's at Amazon. Maybe it's not being banned. Maybe it's being pulled because it's such a stinker. (Eight reviews, each hating it more than the last. Doesn't sound promising.)

Here's what one reviewer had to say: Someone is deceiving Americans, and it might be the author., August 11, 2007
I am constantly running into spam on political web sites, all either written by the same person, or by a group of people who are using the same boilerplate. Every one of them claims that Amazon and other sites have banned this book. Obviously Amazon hasn't, so why the lies? Why the spam? I would venture to guess that it is a sleazy campaign to drum up sales for a book which cannot stand on its own merits.
Need I say more?
