    Oh I just spent 75 bucks on a word perfect deal with Microsoft.

    At least I can write again.

    The free officespace or whateverthehelltheycall it, just sent virus after virus into my pc and

    notepad would not work and...

    WHO CARES?

    I can write again! And link again.

    I am glad you are up and running again.  I haven't had any problem with Apache Open Office.  It is a little different then Word/works.  I have had problems with some of the apps from google chrome. 

    Microsoft is going to offer Windows 10 for free for a year but I don't see any need for having everything in the clouds. They are wanting to convert us all to their cloud service or some such. It took me too long to learn windows 8.  I guess they are skipping the number 9.

    If you have a link to the Microsoft deal, please share.

    The GOP primary is going to be a real zoo that is for sure.  They are trying to hide all their in house fighting that has broke out since they took the Senate. It will be very very interesting to see what comes of the crazies.

    I just went to Microsoft store and then I end up in some sort of chat thingy and then I demanded a telephone number and after ten minutes of waiting, a young man talked me through the maze.

    A nice kid from NYC actually.

    It took almost half an hour and I got through.

    But it cost me 75 bucks, even though it was advertised as 70 bucks.

    Anyway, I have no other place to write this.

    My daughter-in-law sends me this picture of my Precious looking through her door and with feet about two inches long....hahahahah

    The quote was:

    You no worry about me Mom, I need my privacy.

    It killed me.

    Mama's primary purpose in life of course is to monitor the 32 month old every moment of every hour of every day....and so it is my son's job when he gets home from work.

    As a grandmama, you know this. hahahahah

    If there is one thing a 32month old does not need, it is privacy.

    I thought you would like this story.

    Don't get me started about Microsoft and Windows 8.  I had a Windows XP for 13 or 14 years.  It wasn't perfect, and by the end it was running very slowly, but at least I could find my way around it and everything made sense.   This new PC with Windows 8 or whatever they call it, is much newer and faster, but I can't find anything and nothing makes sense.  I was able to upload all the files from my hard drive of my old computer, but now nothing works with the new operating system.  Grrr.  And this computer came with no software programs ... WTF is that all about?    And Apple doesn't put directions in any of their products either or when they do, they put them in artsy 8 pt. font size so only scientists with electron microscopes can read the damned things.  Otherwise, you just have to figure things out for yourself.   Now Microsoft has decided to sell PC operating systems with no directions and no way to access anything except through clairvoyance.   Bring back Windows XP!    That's all I got.   hahahaha   The End.

    Oh Mr. Smith, I need to call some number at HP, and then 'they' tell me after they can offer no help to call Microsoft and then Microsoft tells me that it is not their problem call my 'provider' (great word huh? provider? what the hell are they talking about, some rich uncle?) and so I call mediacom and they tell me it is HP's fault and then I think about throwing the machine out the window and...

    hahahahahah

    I dunno.

    It cost me 75 bucks today, but I get to write on a screen.

    Sometimes I think that Alex Jones has a point. hahahahah

    But then I recall that Alex is a NAZI.

    All Righty Then.

    But damn it all, you have me laughing.

    Better laugh than cry, is what I say.

    Their next big step is to move us to a cloud service that they can charge us every month to use. So take good care of that Windows 8 and make it last as long as you can. It took me months to figure out Windows 8.  I had to do an update to 8.1 because the first version was faulty.

    I have also spent hours staring at you tube videos on how to use this new software.  I also previewed some freeware that I use now by watching you tube.  You can now down load Word that is the 2013 updated version for around $70 that was not being offered when I got this laptop 18 months ago.  I had to go with freeware at the time and learn how to use that. I haven't used note pad since XP.  I know I have it but just don't bother with it. I guess we all get in habits.  

    I have had to learn there is different kinds of formats that files are saved into.  Your files may have to be converted into a format that your computer can read.  There is software for it but I don't know the name of it.  Everyone here is sleeping and we do have it on one of the computers. I just hand over a thumb drive with a file to one of the kids and it comes back in the right format.  I sometimes screw up with open office and save in a file that will not work for Joey on the school equipment. There is a few pirates here that get stuff from outside the country in weird formats that they convert. 

    It is not fair to the average user that we are left on our own to sink or swim.

    I enjoy hearing about your grand daughters. I also enjoy all the pictures of Mike M's little boy on face book.  You need to get back on face book.  We have a pretty nice group thing going on there. Some of the stuff that gets passed around is pretty funny.  It is a nice place to go when I feel down.  I always leave feeling better. Lot of the old cafe is there. Mike W. posted some really nice pics of New York snow. Romona has a fan page she just started and lots of good political cartoons comes through her.  I got to see Elisb sing in a show from her face book post. She has a real sultry voice when she sings and she was good.  It has become user friendly.
