I wrote about the possibility that a woman would become President of the United States of America.
http://dagblog.com/reader-blogs/big-deal-20755
I mean we broke all the rules as Americans when we elected a Black Guy as President of the United States of America eight years ago.
I forgot about all this history that we experience in the face of fascist bastards who attack our very foundation as a nation.
I forgot about how much I really love this country, with all its faults and such.
But we are all living what would have been a dream fifty, a hundred, hell five hundred years.
Look at this.
The First Lady of the 90's is the Democratic Nominee for President of the United States of America.
I never saw any of this coming as a child or when I really was a contributing member of society.
I never saw this coming.
But there she is.
And Hillary has been attacked many decades ago when she was just an adjunct to a Watergate panel of Congress.
AND YET WE EXPERIENCE HISTORY
Well she should have trashed her IPhone.
Well she should have dissed trade deals twenty five years ago.
Well she should have married a nicer guy.
Well she should have divorced this less than nicer guy.
Well she should have....
FUCK YOU
All the sins I have committed in my life. Are you all enlightened about your own sins?
And T-Rump has screwed more folks than most people could in seven life-times.
My PC works a lot better lately.
Let us really examine the night time Convention
Yeah I know I am early but last night I was late.
I just reminded myself that tonite is special.
And we should not ignore this.
Politics just got so damn rotten as far as I am concerned and now, partially due to Biden of all people, this all means a lot to me.
Anyway, I will appreciate all Dagblogger comments.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
THIS IS REAL HISTORY HAPPENING, RIGHT NOW.
Comments
Oh I wish to add to my thoughts last night about Vice President Biden. Here is a nice note from Washpo:

You've said it all about Hillary. I can only add something about the Republicans. With the exception of Nixon everyone of their candidates that I can remember had some redeeming qualities. . Trump's only one is that he's not as bad as Nixon.
On to tonight and then to freeing the Republicans of the shame of watching the memory of their past decent candidates: The Bushes, Reagan, Ike ,Lincoln! being sullied by this disgraceful interloper,
I think of Cromwell's dismissal of the " Long Parliament" :
That seems about right
Corrected for a grammatical error.

Probably wasting time, but the right got rid of Nixon, they hated him. Noam Chomsky called Nixon 'our last liberal president'.
He created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Office of Minority Business Enterprise.
He promoted the Legacy of Parks program.
He appointed four Supreme Court Justices. Three of them voted with the majority in Roe v. Wade.
He indexed Social Security and initiated Supplemental Security Income
His Dept. Labor ruled for minority quotas in unions, a first.
Passed the Clean Water Act to cut pollution waterways. link
Deep throat the anonymous Watergate leaker and all American 'hero' was J Edgar Hoover's #2 who was passed over by Nixon when Hoover died as FBI head, appointing Patrick Gray instead. He was not a hero, he had a score to settle with Nixon, as did the right, which served Nixon up to grandstanding Democrats and a compliant press.
The hypocrisy of Deep Throat, Mark Felt, and Woodward at WaPo, was he saw more violations of the law and Constitutional rights in one week under Hoover than a hundred Watergates.

Digby had a good writeup about Leon Panetta sucker punching Democrats, Republicans, whoever...
http://www.salon.com/2014/10/14/leon_panettas_self_righteous_fury_the_tr...
Only topped in self-serving betrayal by Daniel Moynihan. Will Hillary put Panetta on her team, or have they learned their lesson?

I have had my own thoughts about Nixon. Looking back, we could have done worse! ha
And your list is nohow falsified. That is for sure.
It is just that through the transcripts alone, tricky dicky was certainly a prick.
It is just that in this day and age, it seems clear that we did better under Nixon than we could ever do under Trump.
by Richard Day on Thu, 07/28/2016 - 4:43pm
He was a prick, but most of them were, the point is he did a lot of liberal things and the right hated him, and the right got rid of him.
Reagan and GWB did far worse things and got away with it. The Dems were only allowed to get Nixon because the GOP Ok'd it and hung him out to dry. It didn't prove executive power is held to account, it proved the right detetmined who would be held to account.

He was a crook.
More specfically as the tapes how he was a racist liar. Among the things that are irrelevant are
o the bills he passed .LBJ passed more , that didn't make him a good human being
o the human weaknesses of Woodward etc. They revealed things lllegal things Nixon had done. Those things were illegal . End of story
o That Noam thinks he was "liberal". What matters is that he was a crook. Being a "liberal" crook doesn't make that go away.

I was right, waste of time.
Whenever you get a Social Security cost of living increase, thank Nixon.
The right didn't get rid of him because he was a crook, liar or a prick, which he was, like many politicians.
They got rid of him because of his liberal policies. Only some of which are listed above.
And our wonderful right leaning corporate media cashed in on Watergate ratings, claiming 'democracy works and we and Congress are doing our job'.
Repubs GWB and Reagan had far more and bigger scandals than Nixon. And thanks to compliant Dems, and obedient corporate TV and press, got away with them.

Nixon wound down Vietnam pretty damn fast, considering a peak of 500k+ troops when he took office, down to basically 0 by end of 1st term; much faster than our tepid departure from Iraq or Afghanistan. Probably the right wasn't happy with caving to hippies' demands, but I guess strangely he isn't remembered as much of a peacenik by the left either (just today a writer at Daily Beast notes that by voting Cleaver instead of Humphrey, "I know now that I abdicated and am personally responsible for the expansion of the Vietnam War". No good deed goes unpunished. And no good journalist knows how to read graphs, apparently.

As we begin to pay homage, let's include a graven image of the craven bastard and his undead sidekick and maybe note, just in passing, that our country would have been out of Vietnam on the same terms years earlier and and less hundreds of thousands of deaths except for their actions.

Oh I found Bill Maher's take on last night's convention.
Unless I have really missed the moment, these are the good old days. ha

Kareem's on!
He's tracing the 'modern' Freedom of Religion statutes that have nothing to do with Freedom at all.
by Richard Day on Thu, 07/28/2016 - 9:10pm
Hillary is doing a pretty good job of it so far.
Basically no one person can 'fix' this nation; Americans must work together.
