The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age
    The Decider's picture

I had something funny to say

It involved the fact that first and second amendment solutions weren't working out so well so maybe we should invoke a third amendment solution (take it to another level) and start quartering soldiers in the homes of liberals. But some things are just so rotten that even humor can't help us to deal with them. The shooting of Rep. Giffords and the other victims in Arizona is one of those. It being Monday, the merchants of hate are back on the air, and their outrage is not directed at the shooter. No, it's directed at the Arizona sheriff who dared to speak the truth.

Could you be more specific about who is attacking Dupnick?

Right-wing radio host Jon Justice, who is on KQTH FM 104.1 in Arizona, has called for Dupnik's resignation and taken issue with the sheriff's singling-out of talk radio.

"To say, as Dupnik did, that comments made on the airwaves essentially motivated this person to commit this crime is exactly what he blamed talk radio of doing, inciting through pure rhetoric," Justice said in a statement to Tucson Weekly. "It was complete misuse of his power and he owes the media in town, TV and radio, an apology for his horrible comments in the middle of such a tragic day. He should step down immediately from his position as Pima County Sheriff."

Talk Radio never did nuthin, no how, to nobody Decider. You didn't either, why you wouldn't even swat that fly on your chair.

Here's a piece up at TPM on the anti-Dupnick crusaders

i was quite take by that reaction Decider.

    But politicians have constituents.

I feel that it is right and proper that the Republican Party shuts down business today.

The right is already calling the shooter a liberal, for chrissakes.

    Oh well.

You are right as always, Dick.  We couldn't say much meaner about him than that...

The Merchants of Hate may have to ask for an apology from one of the heroes of the tragedy, the elderly woman who grabbed the 30 round clip as the killer tried to change it said this on Fox News in an interview:

PATRICIA MAISCH: I don't think so...I think...mmm...that Sheriff Dupnik said it best, that the extreme right, reporters, radio and TV have added to this problem, and I'm just hoping that that will change because of this. That's my hope, is that the Republicans will stop naming bills in very hateful things like the "job-killing" whatever the rest of that bill is. I think they've just gone over the top. I think the extreme right has gone too far.

Nice of you to drop by.  Your humor has been missed.

Of coarse the right wing is going to try to blame everyone that is not on their side.   Will their spinn work?  Maybe with a very small group but the rest of us is fed up with the code words, hate speach and vitriol.
