J.P. MORGAN GUILTY OF CHINESE NEPOTISM!

Federal authorities have opened a bribery investigation into whether JPMorgan Chase hired the children of powerful Chinese officials to help the bank win lucrative business in the booming nation, according to a confidential United States government document.

    This is news?

Let us put this all in the proper context!

That won't happen, however. Almost guaranteed, these investigations will end with huge cash settlements. We'll keep the jails filled with food-stamp thieves, while the bank execs who knowingly hawked doomed mortgage bonds to "widows and orphans" all over the world will almost certainly get off. At worst, their shareholders will cough up another billion or two in settlement money.

Who does Barack talk about all the time?” Santorum asked a group of Republicans recently in Lyon County, Iowa. ”The middle class. Since when in America do we have classes? Since when in America are people stuck in areas, or defined places called a class? That’s Marxism talk. When Republicans get up and talk about middle class we’re buying into their rhetoric of dividing America. Stop it."

You ever read something that seems so obvious and yet so very very strange?

This JPM item is just hilarious to me; for many reasons.

Forget the laws for a moment and forget all of the reported sins (let alone those sins that we shant ever know) of this capitalistic fascistic monstrosity that almost sent the entire Western World into nothingness!

OF COURSE JPM WENT AHEAD AND HIRED RELATIVES OF POWERFUL CHINESE OFFICIALS FOR CHRISSAKES!

You know we have these genetic tree blogs or sites and you can discover wonderful things about your own ancestors; like when your great great grandpa stole the horse and killed his second wife; or like when your great uncle was imprisoned for 'alleged' bestiality; or like when your mother attempted to abandon you at the Mexican Border. Wonderful facts available to us all.

I am just too lazy to do this but I would bet that you could use these sites to discover the children and grandchildren and in-laws of our current politicians and cross reference that information to find out where all these relatives work or have worked over the last couple of decades; hell the last two hundred years.

The repubs would tell us that we live in a meritocracy. What a bunch of horseshit.

There are the lottery winners (those who actually hit the lottery and those who fell into some market or some stock market offering or whatever); there are those related to elites who receive 7 or 8 chances in life; there are the grifters who have not been caught or bribed their way out of the legal system; there are those who worked hard all their lives and were not laid off and did not find their niche in life erased and....

And there are those who were laid off by some money grubbing corporation or by chance in a changing tech world; and there are those who discovered that they had MS or that their child had some affliction that prevented them from moving to a new corporate locale; and there are those who just bet on the wrong damn horse....

Louie CK has a scene where his youngest daughter comes home after school and sees here elder sister sucking on a Dreamsicle. She runs to her father and demands her Dreamsicle.

    No, says Dad.

    But that's not fair!

    Well life is not fair.

Any adult who has not found himself in a straight jacket already knows that life is unfair.

Look, if my business had taken off and my son was having problems, I would pull all strings available to get him into rehab or whatever and I would see that he was employed somewhere that did not dispense burgers and fries.

And if I were doing business in China, I sure the hell would not deny relatives of important governmental operatives employment positions.

I just recalled the time when Ms. Lewinski ended up with a position under the auspices of Vernon Jordan. My vague recollection tells me that all reported 'facts' were denied. HAHAHAHAH.

    Who the hell cares?

These corporate directors okay hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to the corporate elites.

And that is probably because corporate directors like getting paid for doing next to nothing and are paid enough to make it worth their while.

The Supreme Court denies access to the courts by shareholders so who the hell has standing to bitch?

George W. Bush and thousands of other entrants into our 'best' universities do not 'earn' their entrance for heavens sake! We all know this!

It is only when the repubs begin screaming about 'Affirmative Action' that I ponder these matters.

    IT JUST PISSES ME OFF!

    That's all I got!

    Damn.

It is interesting how corporations think these days.  I am loosing my local JoAnn Fabric Store because they opened a new store last year in a new shopping area in the middle of a cluster of gated subdivisions.  The contractors actually built a new city in the rural part of the county during the housing boom.  The new store didn't do as well as they thought it would.  So they are closing the store in the near by town because they think we will drive out there.  The manager never saw it coming because the store was doing better then the new store.  The new store is in a charming, lovely, upper middle class retirement community with a great big shopping area off the interstate.  The only problem is upper middle class don't sew that much.  Talk about betting on the wrong horse.  We in this town don't have the transportation to go there.  My store had a large Hispanic customer base that did a lot of garment sewing and less crafting.  Many of the elderly and minorities ride buses in this town.  There is no bus service going out there.  We have another fabric store in our town that will benefit from this closing.   The great grand kids of the original owner sold their controlling shares to a mega retail corporation that has mostly food stores a few years ago.  So the smart rich CEO types from top private schools can now run the chain with out a clue to who sews in this country and why.  They think we are all Martha Steward crafters.  The new store is almost all crafts and a smaller section of fabric.

I suspect that the items being sold at the new JoAnn's have a higher markup, which might have been part of the reason for closing your JoAnn's. I suspect the hope is that the higher markup make up for the loss in quantity of sales.

Actually the prices are in a regional data base and everything is scanned.  Corporate sets the prices except for the clearance stuff and that is done by districts.  I can shop anywhere in the south and pay the same prices at JoAnn's for same items.   Corporate came here to figure out the problem and instead spent their time at the Tiki bar looking over the Gulf and listing to steal drums.  They didn't do their homework.  The new store will not get much of a bump from this because customers have other choices closer.

I guess I should remember Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can adequately explained by stupidity." In this case, however, I should substitute greed (my assumption) for malice.
