The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

    MERRY XMAS DAGBLOGGERS!

I think Moat was writing about philosophy with Peracles. ha

I like to read stuff like that.

I think sometimes about going into the garage, turning on the engine, ensuring that the garage door is secured and then losing my soul. But I have no car or garage.

    ha

My son brought his children to my apartment for the first time.

We usually meet in the community center downstairs, over the last four years....but he insisted that my grandchildren come to my apartment last night.

Sean thought that it was time.

He did his best to childproof the place. hahahhah

Precious thought it was time to cry  as soon as she found herself inside the building. ha

    But that stopped?

And we proceeded upstairs in the elevators that are in repair.

Jolee had no idea what was going on but I was able to pick her up and pick up one bag as we preceded to the goal.

Sean set up the TV with his DVD machine and it would not work.

He had promised the kids that they could watch their favorite ICE Disney film whilst they waylaid with the infidel. hahahhahaah

Well he fixed the damn thing. Thank the Good Lord.

It turned out later that we needed the old remote, but I found it hours later.

I had presents for the children.

The primary present ended up not working. Par for the course.

But, the kids were really nice to me.

    Cheese and crackers.

    There's the thing.

And Kool Ade (subtly watered down!) with ritz and cheese.... well that did the trick.

    Seany never missed a beat.

OH I  had kid-proofed the apartment appropriately...at least in my mind. hahahahah

He did nothing as far as that goes. No, he trusted me having been here overnight the day before.

    Everything was fine.

I made tacos later on. Boy they loved those soft tacos.

I get so lost at times, but babies must be watched and one forgets their lostness. hahhahaah

Precious was always ascared of me. hahahhahh

    We did fine today.

I picked up Jolee five times (at least) and there were no screams. hahahahahhahhahahaha I got to kiss her on those occasions!

We talked and we laughed and we discussed many matters.

(Oh, the greatest point of order,as it were was when Precious went to the bathroom and she noted: Daddy it smells so nice in here!)

I told my son that it is miraculous that he would not only be a father, and that he had to learn how to be a father; but that you cannot ever really teach this stuff. I mean, every baby is an individual in the end. And he learned that what works for Precious, does not necessarily work for Jolee.

Anyway, depression might be lifted by being with children. This surely helped me. Today.

This blog is about nothing and yet it is about everything.

Christmas; with or without religion is real.

I know because families are real.

And I laugh when my son speaks of his sins. hahahahahahha

Oh I yell tooooo much. hahahahahha Daddy says?

I WONDER WHERE HE LEARNED THAT FROM?

These kids are clean and well fed and well clothed and well ......

I lose my Christmas spirit sometimes.

But I get this spirit back as long as I am with children.

MERRY CHRISTMAS DAGBLOGGERS OR HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

    I get so lost.

    And  then I get found.

People are so nice to me here. And I really feel safe here.

    You  are nice peeps. hahahahah

    My favorite commie sings:

    Sometimes there are good times.

    Merry Christmas my friend.

Merry xmas  to you Mr. Smith.

You are a good and talented man!

I thought ABOUT this song lately.

Doctors need to prescribe children as medicine for depression. Maybe that is my secret. The sun came up bright pink this morning and I have never seen that before.  I wonder if that is a good omen.  All the trailers reflected the pink, it was really surreal.

    You have a good Christmas.

    Frozen

    Oh the kids went nuts!

Precious would mouth the words of the songs!

And you are so very right Momoe...it is not that the kids are alright; it is that the kids make me alright.

And my son will join me one more time on Saturday night.

This xmas has been perfect. More perfect than I had anticipated!

Read "Water for Elephants" if you haven't - real beauty, and the family visit reminded me of yours. Join a circus, buddy - better than carbon monoxide - elephant methane.

    You know Peracles?

Join a circus has got to be the funniest line I read all year. hhahahahahhahahaha

    It is so perfect!

Forget awards for a minute. hahhahahahahah

I have no idea why this line gets to me. hahahahah

And yet, there is this song that is constantly on tv on a show I refuse to watch but it seems apt at midnight tonight. hahahahha

Merry Christmas and the best of everything, dear, dear Richard.  I can't imagine Dagblog without you.  Stay well, let the music play.

    Merry Christmas to you Ramona.

If one might escape the pundits and the politicians, things are not that bad after all!

Merry Christmas, Mr. Day. It hardly seems like December here in N. Texas and elsewhere. The birds are flying into windows like it was springtime. Red wasps are winging about in total confusion and then hiding---I was stung as I put my hand down reaching for a wood rasp and my palm swelled up like a golf ball and itched like hell. There is a ladybug infestation in my house---they can bite, decide to fly at odd times, or crawl across a computer screen. I hope no one is offended when I say "ladybug". (::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I'm going down to the barn and survey the cypress wood that we planed and milled yesterday. I had air dried some slabs of this wood for a while but was surprised by its characteristics--very light and not sturdy, yet impervious to water. It's trying to tell me what it wants to become and I'm trying to listen and it's sounding like a kitchen counter top with just a wax finish.

Have a good day, and think good thoughts. Remember my motto for this stage of life---a good day is when you want to give up but decide not to.

    Oh Oxy!

You are too good for Texas!

    hahahahahahaha

With Momoe and Mr. Smith and Missy along with that idiot Peracles?....and many  others, I would never have survived this year! hahahahahha

You have a good  day Oxy!

Is that a Gurdjieff idiot or a Lars von Trier idiot or just a run-of-the-mill idiot or an Iggy Pop kind of idiot? Where I come from, we spelled it idjit and acted much the same.

    S

    See, you cannot help yourself.

    hahahhahahahahaha

You almost always make me laugh. hahahahahah

I was having a personal communique with this fine woman. hahhahahahah

Here is a song for you!

My favorite idiot is the one Dostoyevsky described. He had a life and people were attracted to him. What's not to like?

Ooh, how did I miss Fedor? You go to battle with the Idiots you have, not the Idiots you'd like to have. In Russian, "idiöt idiot" means "the idiot goes", oddly enough. Accent on the 2nd syllable 1St word, 1St syllable second word.

    Merry Christmas, Mr. Day!

    Thank you Mike!

    Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas...

You know I went to the liquor store with Seany this week and the proprietor wished me a Happy Christmas. I recall that that is the English sobriquet. hahahah

In the end we acknowledge the Solstice of course.

Anyway, thank you for this blog site.

    I appreciate it.

    Feliz Navidad

    Hey LULU!

    Same to you!

Thanks Richard for putting things in perspective.  I'm putting down my laptop for a couple of days to avoid sending negative vibes to those good people here who don't share my views.  Instead, I wish all here the best for the holiday season and beyond!

Hell Hal (sorry, I always wished to say thathahahahha) you win the ratings race every time you post.

If people did not think you were worth reading....well, they would never read you in the first place. hahahahahh

I do not understand why some of my friends get so damn mad.

But you awaken things in my mind, at least.

And you help keep this blog site alive.

    Good for you.

    And, Happy Holidays!

I saw the lights on from the sidewalk and when I went inside, I realized the people who showed up have been here for some time so I stopped fighting me or them for a moment and was simply glad they are still around.
I see LisB and Another Trope in the room even if they are working the corners.
    Where is AA?

And where's the wetbar? Gotta make a toast and me throat is dry. If Q or Larry were here, prolly finished it off...

Thanks Dick... You made my night. . .

This alone that you wrote is priceless.

Christmas; with or without religion is real.

I know because families are real.

And I thank my lucky stars I have Donna Jean, my forever love and forever friend (who has put up with my crazy crap all these years).

Today's tree with our first ornament from 1969.

    Have a Merry Christmas Day.

You are sounding so happy today!

    Happy Holidays Ducky!

    For sure!

Merry, Merry Christmas to you, Mr. Day.

My own family is expanding. By next Christmas, Mr. flower and I will have our house child-proofed and decorated for the season. It's time to put up a tree again so we can start to build memories for our first grandchild.

    Congratulations, Flower!  And Merry Christmas.

    That is just wonderful!

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year! HA

Thanks for this, Dick ... Merry Christmas All!

    Merry Christmas to you Missy.

You are one of my best friends over these years.

This is getting on to eight years for heaven's sake!

You take care and remember: be happy!
